- It takes weeks, even years, to write a song. NPR Music's Project Song challenges musicians to do it in just two days. Moby and collaborator Kelli Scarr finished so quickly, they wound up recording three different versions of their new song "Gone to Sleep." I found the song deeply affecting. It's probably among my top 10 Moby tracks.
I'm a technician by trade and when people are misusing technology, there is really no nice way to say they are screwing up, so Moby correcting someone bluntly is not out of line when there is a deadline. Every one is a professional, so they don't take it personally and they move forward...

Beautiful sentiment with 2 beautiful voices! One has to respect an artist because their creativity produces many jobs for others and their creativity is art in its purest form. So cool to see a song take form shape and final outcome in a day. Total respect to the artists!

Moby is a singular musician, so I can understand his "douchiness". He writes all of his music, plays all the instruments, generally works in solitude. I felt kinda bad for Kelli Scarr though, who likely thought she was participating in a collaboration, but ended up just being a vocalist. As for his bitching at the engineer, the engineer is a professional and has probably worked with much bigger assholes. Moby is clearly a control "enthusiast" who knows exactly what's in his head and finds it hard to find the patience to explain his vision to others, which is why he prefers to work alone. I can relate to that. I'm not trying to justify or forgive him; I'm merely saying I understand him. I work part time as an engineer, and I love the challenge of working with professionals who know what they want.

This almost seems like a sketch parodying the pretentious....but really it's just actual footage of pretentious people being pretentious.

Simple piece to write. Good, but nothing special.
The chorus and her voice is great! Mobys instrument playing is unfortunately pretty bad... also if he was a good instrumentalist he wouldnt react on someone tweaking something in the middle of a take, thats actually a beginner kind of reaction...
With such criticism, you must be an accomplished musician. Please post a song you produced within one day. I would love to see your process.
@@osdias A couple of questions. Is university educated and licensed music teacher with 7,5 years full time studies in music and 8 years of teaching enough to call oneself a accomplished musician with your measurements? Why would you want me to post a production process video when my comment is about bad instrument playing and acting like a whining beginner? There is of course no logic in that. I could post a video of me not whining like a beginner if you want that. I would like to see a video of Moby not loosing his tempo because he has bad timing and can't feel the pulse in his body. He has bad timing even when the click hasn't changed. He also has bad tone, involuntary different tone on different notes. He also tries to blame his bad timing on the sound guy, acting like a whining, rude, grumpy, teenage beginner who can't see his own faults, and that is what's annoys me the most. It's ok to have bad timing, and bad tone, but it's not ok to be rude and act lika a beginner when your sopposed to be a professional.
