Everyone commenting on me moving away from the mic while I'm in the moment and playing should go listen to some live Trane concerts, namely Mr. PC live in Paris.
Man, it's so cool how Japan has become a second home for Jazz.
Agreed
Totally! This blew me away while visiting Japan: jazz music and culture is so highly regarded and there is such a lively music scene with lots of young people too. It also surprised me to hear so much jazz in public and commercial spaces. Lots of times I felt myself immersed in some awesome fusion piece or something rare from the sixties while waiting for my coffee or even a random elevator. Great video. Amazing musicians. I love the vibe.
First
y'all KILLED that B Section wooi
The altissimo was altissimoing that day 🔥
I don't know if the chords were altered, or if it was just how it was played, but it definitely had a Chick Corea vibe, especially with that guitar melody in the back that was unified at the end. Amazing as always!
This was the best christmas present I could’ve asked for… Pat’s playing is one of my favourite things!
YESSS!
Gotta admit, probably my favorite arrangement of this tune. The band was so crazy with the energy. Patrick was fantastic as always- and the rest of the band had no issue at all keeping up with him. What a fantastic group. The final take on the melody was just full of soul.
COME ON PAT, SPEAK THAT SOUL, LET IT SING 🔥🔥🔥
Gotta love that Kenny Garrett vibe !
Thank you so much for the countless hours that went into getting to a point where you can all blow like this and also for sharing it (for free no less)! Top draw stuff, guys! Makes one wish to live in Japan to be closer to the Bird of our generation. Gorgeous guitar sound. Tasty, seemingly effortless double bass playing, drummer and everyone listening so well. Wow, man!
insane dance moves tho
Wonderful 🔥 to keep me warm during my first White Christmas! ❤️🔥
you know it's good when pat starts bobbing
Felt the heat from your souls, it was like looking at a big colorful fireplace
Wonderfully done guys! Props to the sound engineers as well.
Those back leans tho, i was feelin' em
You Gentlemen sound Absolutely Magnificent. Bravo & Much Applause!
Insane set! My only gripe is we needa mic up Patrick's sax at this point 😭That standing mic can't capture that entire solo well enough, especially when Patrick's really feelin it. Lovely rendition, thank you so much for sharing!
Random question: is Takafumi Suenaga a fan of Kids on the Slope? I'm pretty sure he quoted the school fest solo just a little, and it made me smile.
Also, Merry Christmas!
probably but could be random
well it IS a pretty popular recording of MFT so
This Patrick may be my new fave. What tonal character!
This is so beautiful! (I love how in recordings like this you can hear the other players go "whoaaahah!" at a cool moment, too)
Love the arrangement! and how you add (just) a few blue notes into your solo! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
The solos, the feelings, that final section where everyone went all out. Wow, just wow. Probably my favorite arrangement of this piece.
Absolute perfection for Christmas 👌🏻
Glad I found your channel through AvoidingThePuddles Stream .
Merry Christmas
So AWESOME!!!
dope asf
Amazing!!
Amazing! Y’all killed it! Merry Christmas everyone
Wonderful!
Thank you for this! What an offering!
This is wonderful!
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Awesome!!! Thank you so much for this video! You guys are amazing!
Love it!! You never fail to impress 👍
hot fire
exactly what I needed to hear today
I could listen to this every day!
Thank you for the excitement!
such an incredibly cool transition at the end omg
WOWZER WOWZER WOWZER! Thanks Patrick and HO Jazz!
nice!
Oh wow, holy sh... thank you so much for that.
HI Patrick, I really enjoyed this version of the tune. Exquisite taste in all solos and the intensity at the end was amazing. Thanks for this video!!
I like this recording. Made with heart 🙂
Wow man ...... I just stumbled on this and it blew me away....!
I heard some Coltrane, some Pharoah Sanders and you in there man .... Loved it...!
Sounds amazing man....! Play'on my Brother.....!
That was one of the most beatiful sax solos ive ever heard it made me cry hard thank you for the music
サックスソロの名探偵コナンっぽいフレーズとかケニーギャレットぽい抜け感のあるところかっこよすぎる。
にしてもドラム気持ちよさそうに叩くなぁ。かっこいい。
I always thought you needed a tenor to do this song justice but I was so incredibly wrong, great playing!
Jumbalaya is one of my favorite things too! Especially when spicy like this!
Intro was giving Motown vibes 🔥🔥
THE LOST IN THOUGHTS ALL ALONE QUOTE
Saudações do Brasil-Rj
Yo, Nice.
Nice! Guys. Quality.
Sax at the end was killing it. Wow nice.
Pat I love you bro and the jazz cat in me is loving how you express yourself during your solos but the sound engineer in me is BEGGING you to play into the mic 😭
I rather play with a clip on or no mic at all. Trane does the same things in his live recordings. Sometimes you just lose track of where you are, I'm not in this physical space anymore.
@@PatrickBartleyMusic it's for that reason alone that when I record jam sessions I just put one or two mics up on either side of the band
if the players are good they can balance
unfortunately when you're recording something and it's reliant on what the mic is hearing and not the room it doesn't really work that way
@@SC4RRL3TTIt's not that deep, bro.
Guitar was way cool!
GANGSTER
Wow what a way to jazz up a classic song!! I found your videos while looking for new Saxophone music ( for myself to Play my Alto Saxophone) and came across your videos!! Thank You so much! You guys are solid!! Kudos! Can you please tell me your set up please Sax , mouthpiece and strength of reed you use if not to much asking!! Looking for to your next music
Hi. Listening from India. It is sounding very soothing n feels like listening again and again. Patrick sir may i know what reed are you using.
Omg that C∆#11 instead of A when the major comes!
SOMEONE PLEASE GIVE PAT A CLIP ON MIC 😭😭🙏🏾🙏🏾 Wonderful performance tho
コルトレーンへの挨拶
wait was that a quote from "Lost in Thoughts all Alone" from Fire Emblem?? even if it's not, it sounds awesome as a whole :0
Wouldn't be surprised - Pat certainly knows his way around vgm!
what mouthpiece are you using-great sound
Someone get this man a clip-on microphone.
なんてベースライン...
Awesome arrangement Patrick! Thanks for being a huge inspiration. Here's an arrangement I did of "My Favorite Things" a couple years ago: ruclips.net/video/LW2sXxrRQhY/видео.html&ab_channel=JordanChung
Chinatown meets Coltrane¡,
Not sure I understand the reference - they are in Japan
Playing is good . Tone is way different with the new setup/horn . 🤷🏾♂
