    Such an awesome project. I really need to start adding interior lighting to my rolling stock. If only they were not all microtrains 3x axle trucks.

      Three axle cars are more prone to wheel/rail separation. However, with the addition of SuperCaps it's now possible to have better performance. Instead of trying to connect all three axles, two are adequate and allow the car to glide more smoothly.

    Really interesting video. Out of interest how thick is the brass sheet that these axel connectors are made from?

    Wow thank you for sharing. I have N scale Athearn bay windows I want to do this with. I am sure this will fit. But I want to put red working frog lights on top. Can you do a video on how to do that?

    Has the Supercap been used for sound? I have an N scale Athearn reefer car with sound and the sound keeps dropping from what I assume is poor electrical contact. I wanted to try adding a capacitor to remedy the problem. Thanks.

      Our SuperCap boards can only be used with our light boards. They will not work with any other DCC system.

    Sorry if this is a stupid question. Is the copper taking current from the axel or the wheel?

    • @ModelTrainTechnology
      @ModelTrainTechnology  Год назад

      From the axle but only one wheel is electrically connected to the axle. This is called an "insulated" axle. Some axles are insulated form both wheel, so in that case you would need to replace the wheel/axle.

    Do You Sell the Kit Fully installed in the Caboose for Me I have the Athearn Southern Pacific Caboose but I don't have much for a Bench to do projects I have a solder Iron but not an adjustable Bench Solder Station.. The Santa Fe Caboose would be perfect for me.. what's the cost for the Kit and if installed for the customer how much is that cost I also really like the Tailight thats Awesome the interior lighting could BE tamed down A bit more as it's way" to bright it looked like it was showing through the plastic sides of the Caboose,
    My DCC is a NCE Powercab when setting up the car how do you set the decoder do you use option like switching the Turnouts or Entering a Loco Address...
    Thanks Allen RDA N Scale..

      Short answer: Yes! The caboose board kit is $22 (Board, Floating Brass and One (N) Lantern). For N Scale I highly recommend getting one SuperCap pack (+$12). All installations are $15 of which $10 is shipping back to you.(The floating brass and lantern are included in the installation cost; and replacement wheels if needed)
      1. Board with installation (including floating brass and lantern). $37.00
      2. Same as above with 1 SuperCap Board $49.00
      3. Caboose kit (no installation) and lantern . $32.00
      You can adjust the lighting level to you liking using your NCE system - it functions like an engine. You can also choose the "color" of the white LEDs.

      Yes, we do installs almost everyday. The price ranges but about $20 for the kit $15 for install which includes the shipping back to you. Everything (brightness) is adjustable to your liking. The decoder acts like an engine decoder. Pick an address and then use the functions keys to control and adjust.

      @ModelTrainTechnology  3 года назад +1

      Yes. The Caboose board will easily support two lanterns/ fiber dongles or LEDs.

    • @ModelTrainTechnology
      @ModelTrainTechnology  3 года назад +2

      The AUX pads support two lanterns/LED and they are separately controllable from the DCC controller. Yo can use LEds or our fiber dongle (Red or Warm White). Contact us at Support@modeltrainman.com for more information.
