okay you see that tease at the start? That was how you should do it. Good job. Don't spoil the games, just leave us in the dark about just how bad something might go.
Bless you Seth, Your videos are the only way my husband can get my 1 and a half year old to sleep when I step out. She finds your voice soothing and it puts her to sleep everytime 😌
I disagree, if he had negated the Aria instead of drawing a card, he would have won as opp had only grizzly bear beats. As Seth said "the whole game is in this decision" and he chose very wrong.
@@SilverBordered What are you disagreeing with? That it was a brutal loss? That such a loss was highly unlikely to be repeated? I'm afraid your entire comment follows as a complete non sequitur. My man, English exam is next week lol. I was also disagreeing with your entire statement - the whole thing. With Mill, you get to see a lot of your opponent's deck; sometimes you get to see their entire deck. Seth had a lot of information to work with during the decision that was "more or less the entire game." The opponent drew 23 cards the entire game while also scrying seven cards and digging five deep then adding two cards to their hand. It is not unreasonable that the deck that plays eight rituals has five in their hand after seeing that many cards. Seth knew about one from Pieces of the Puzzle and only saw a few more exiled. Statistically, this is not a one in a thousand games loss, as you said. More over, I disagree that it was an unthinkably brutal loss. A hefty punish for sure, but not to the extent you claim. Seth acknowledged that Aria of Flame could kill him and chose not to Negate it. Other than opponent's Grizzly Bear beats, a Negated Aria of Flame would leave opponent no good win condition, thus making the game deterministic. Seth made a choice and chose wrong. Seth does this all the time - not that I'm dunking on him, he never claimed to be the best! Therefore, the loss was brutal but thinkable when considering the pilot. By and large, it was entertaining to watch, both of our comments are unreasonably long, and it's just Seth doing Seth things at the end of the day. Cheers!
@@SilverBordered Well then, if the disagreement was on the 'unthinkable' aspect, given your reasoning, then I think I can get behind the idea that that word was a mistake. However, brutal seems accurate. I'm not going back on that one *grins*. Appreciate the in-depth response though, it covers some stuff that I hadn't considered. Still, Seth has my sympathy. Those moments feel awful.
8:00 why wouldnt you remand the remand???? and what do you think about chasm skuler as an alternative win con? seems better than ashiok tbh cause ashiok ruines your visions of beyond. 49:00 why do you refuse to use serum visions in conecutive turns?
If you're sticking to monoblue in Modern you might want to consider "polymorphing" removal that Blue has available. Reality Shift and Pongify come to mind as options. There's also a very small amount of other removal such as Psionic Blast and Piracy Charm. Most cards like these are also pretty cheap.
It was a good one. Can't even really be too upset about losing, it was really interesting. What are the odds all five cards in their hand were rituals?!?
In G1 vs RDW- I think you should have waited for Chandra to resolve and activate an ability before flipping Thing. She might have ticked down, and you could have bounced the board in response
I builded this deck and I tried. I found a card that could be very useful and with sinergy. The enchantment Trade routes make you discard a land card for 1 mana and draw a card. Literally the ability to cicle all the land you want. The second you can bounce a land you control with 1 mana. That means you can play every turn the Mystic Sanctuary and put on the top a card you need to play. I think this deck could have one or two of this enchantment. What do you think about that? What cards I can remove for putting them in?
Frantic inventory does not help find lands the first is 2 mana to cycle, I almost think the draw 2 discard 1 from ixlan would be better, it draws more until the 3rd frantic inventory and then its 6 cards drawn each.
Why wouldnt you run Ominous Seas from Ikoria if you are drawing that many cards? It also has cycling if you need to enable a tutelage. But it also can put out multiple krakens for defense
If they are drawing that many cards won't they just win off of tutelage anyways? And in this case the deck draws that much because of Visions of Beyond that need to mill 20 thus draw a bunch to mill to continue drawing, so at that point isn't making a bunch of 8/8's just winning more or just irrelevant or even reducing consistency?
I highly reccomend splashing for 2x God Ethernal Bontu. Im playing it in a shell along with Doom fortold/dance and its pretty brutal in standard. Lategame, just drop Bontu and Sac all ya lands and other stuff for a win from nowhere
I haven't watched the last two yet, but isn't Ashiok kind of a non-bo for the deck since the exile goes off no matter what if you down tick, meaning Visions gets turned off? It seems Visions is the main engine in the matches I have seen so far and I get graveyard hate and Uro turn of Visions on its own but it seems the three I have watched Ashiok doesn't look like it really helps all too well. I know small sample size and all but in most cases it seems the mill doubling creature would just close out the game super fast while Ashiok is just a far less valuable line. Or does the deck lose like crazy without them? Note: Completely forgot about budget at the time even though Bruvac is only a couple bucks online he is rather spendy in paper.
Teferi tribal? Mill in uw using teferi Tul sphynx tul puzzlebox and sideboard into teferi lock using (forget the name) or omens machine where they cannot cast anything. Tbh brewers start brewing
Sort of. It is a non-bo with Visions of Beyond, but I think it's still worthwhile. Not playing any main deck graveyard hate seems rough in an Uro meta and pretty much all of the options exile the graveyard. It's not too hard to time things right to still get full value out of Visions of Beyond.
Jund seems like a nightmare matchup for this as well, and probably tron. Trophy, decay, discard, goyf etc. Using Richard on Jund as the final boss on budget magic would be cool, but probably to much work.
I don't think this deck would play them. With fetchlands in a more traditional controlling build deck they can be great, but without fetchlands and with our deck being a ton of cantrips I'm not sure they are worth it.
I can't believe there is no escape or enchant removal in like any of the first few decks. Vision seems never on vs escape. Dnt in modern basically how it is never good outside vs tron.
Yeah, I think you're right. I didn't really expect them to have five Rituals in hand to win through Damping Sphere, but probably better to play it safe there.
Mill is so fun to run into with historic dredge, why thank you I'm milling me too. Oops you drained yourself for 3, brough back 2 silver smotes and a narco triggering the 3 cmc bat artifact 3 times thanks for creating 13 damage. And I play jace mwuhaha.
I've been running quite a bit of main deck graveyard hate since it seems everyone has graveyard shenanigans so running into dredge is always a pretty smooth match
This is one of the healthiest modern metas ive seen since like fate reforged
Yeah. I just wish Uro wasn’t in it, though I have a terrible, no good feeling he’s part of the reason the meta is the way it is...
That last game was winnable in a number of ways.
Just negate the aria and they are left with nothing to actually win the game
Yup. Seemed like an obvious play to me. Still fizzles the opponent’s Remand, too.
@@michaeldegrave5905 But seth wouldn't have drawn a card from remand. Drawing cards > winning
@@KnightPlaylist seems like an unnecessary risk to mill 2 maybe 4 cards
I also feel like bottoming the dismember earlier may have been a misplay since the goblin electromancer just negated his damping sphere.
Yesssssss, I love when you play Tutelage! Also this deck should be called Twotelage
"Tutelage 2 Furious", OR "Mill 2, Electric Tuteloo"

"Mill our opponent" music to my ears.
Sphinx's tutelage might get a little stronger when people start subbing lands for the new flip lands in zendikar.
It was that decision on what to negate in the very last game that decided the match. The negate was for the aria. Good games. Well played
That storm loss....... I am so sorry Seth. That was just the most unthinkably brutal loss. Probably the one in a thousand games loss
I disagree, if he had negated the Aria instead of drawing a card, he would have won as opp had only grizzly bear beats. As Seth said "the whole game is in this decision" and he chose very wrong.

Idk in the world of london mulligans I would not keep that 1 lander seth. Especially if I were on the play and was playing a deck with 20 lands..
Fun work you have here
You couldve dismembered the electromancer at the first instance of ritual I think

Is ug for fog and growth spiral/explore?
Also the way thing plays, merfolk secret keeper is a better 0/4 wall, phblthp draws a card.
