I love that idea adding the extra bits of ink to the rose. Made it look real. Trying that. Thankyou
I know that this video is 2 years old, but it is still very helpful. I never knew I'd have more control if I pounced the ink pad instead of the stamp. Great tip Lindsay. Thank you!
One thing I learned early on that really helped was to think of the stamps in quadrants. Make sure you apply pressure to each quadrant. That way you an even impression.
Melissa W good tip, just be sure not to rock it:)
Hi lynsie
Thank you been stamping for a number of years I even show people how to now and then, so never think your going too slow for those that have some knowledge as we learn just as well from another persons technics . I appreciate your spending your time showing your skills. It's always good to see an artist at work regardless of the medium used.regards as always. Paul from London UK. P's keep me coming
Paul Morgan thanks Paul:)
The flower and leaf stamp is very cute! Your card is easy and simple. Adding the button and fiber is a plus to any card.
MsSelena1973 thanks!
I just recently found you and I’m so glad I did! I know nothing about painting or stamping but have recently thought I might like to learn. You are so gifted and very fun to watch. With all that is going on in our world today it’s nice to have a diversion. Thank you for sharing your talents with us. GOD bless you my dear. Great job. ❤️👍
I'm a new stamper. This is just what I need. Thank you
Hi Lindsay, a beautiful card. Watching you for the first time I didnt feel intimidated. You made it look so very easy, but learning how to stamp and colours with inks is a great bonus to me. I continue to learn. Thank you for more advice and tips. Luv from the UK
Just wanted to say thanks, cause this video is 2 years old & I'm still learning. 😊
I been doing cards for about a year. But,I don't know everything. So,I love these videos! Your videos actually got me into card making!
Cole Patrick thanks so much, it's nice to get back to basics now and again!
Excellent! Your recent video about paper crafting irks and hoarding supplies made me think how nice some minimal supplies tutorials would be. Then I remembered this playlist. Trying it now!
Awesome!
Really easy, but super pretty card! I try to learn something new every day, so I enjoy watching you craft no matter the skill level of the video. I'm an intermediate stamper, so I'm always learning. Thanks for all that you kindly share with us Lindsay!
Tina Kloepfer thanks for the comment:)
I am really enjoying all your videos especially you stamp school episodes. You are so understanding of us newbies. I am learning so much from you😀. Look forward to more!
Tonya Sanders thanks Tonya, it you learn it right the first time you will make fewer mistakes, waste less supplies and gain greater satisfaction creating:)
I've been stamping for years, but I still loved watching this video. Thanks so much!
This is a great back to basics refresher for more experienced stampers. I'd have given anything for this information several years ago. I've just gone with what I stumbled on & worked for me like bring the ink to the stamp as you do & use another large wood mount stamp to get a good image from the one you're stamping.
Can't wait for the next instalment :).
Thanks for this great tutorial Lindsay. It doesn't matter if any of us are new to this craft or not, styles and techniques change so we can always learn something.
Like many other crafters, I learnt by trial and error and there were not video tutorials around.
It is so good to see you giving such good advice about taking the ink pad to the stamp and not the other way around.
So many tips in this one video. It is the first of this series I have caught so will go find the whole lot :-)
Again, many thanks for great ideas, tips and how to's.
Thanks Lindsay! This is a great series for us beginners. Thank you for remembering those of us who haven't been collecting supplies and tools for years. 'yet' ;)
Sharon Wright I am so glad to hear that. I love going back to basics:)
Love those teardrop ink pads.
Loved the video just what I needed I have never stamped before. I have been watching your tutorials. I now have a new craft thanks to you. tfs Pat
I love going to Stamp School! Thanks for the good lessons, Miz Lindsay!
Elizabeth Hansen you're welcome:)
Thanks for the refresher Lindsay!
Wow! I've been stamping for about 9 months, but I am learning so much from you! I never thought of stamping the same image with different shades of the same color! THAT IS TERRIFIC. This video is going to my Favorites!
+Barbara Rademacher thanks!
Good video I've been stamping for many years and still learning new ways to stamp
Christine Michener it's always nice to go back to basics I think:)
Thank you for doing the stamp school, and for all your videos in general. I'm more of an intermediate stamper because I don't take time to "play" like I should, but I always learn something new from you.
So good for beginners, your tutorials are easy to follow. Nice card! x
You are funny. I like all your videos. I laugh right along with you.
Re-watching your Stamp School videos! Thanks for these!!!
Thanks for the tips on how to ink up and stamp, I think those suggestions will definitely improve the end results because my biggest issue up to now was that the images are not evenly stamped. The card you made is very classy!
loving the stamp school videos! Thanks you so much.
Really enjoyed this video. Thank you.
Thank you! I really appreciate your videos! Always love to learn something old or new! Also just like to watch you create!
Thank you for this one...sealed with a tear

I've been watching your tutorials for over a year! I just love them! I'm finally going to take the plunge and stamp.
Yay!
Thanks for the clear stamp tip!
Lovely card Lindsay! I watched your first Stamp School video too :) I have been stamping on and off for quite awhile, but will definitely continue to take all your stamp school classes . Already picked up tips from you during class:) You are such a joy to watch and an excellent teacher!!
Love this one!
Lovely card Lindsay.....very informative.
I tested my stamps out on a bit of paper before using and discovered how difficult it is pressing them down onto the pad without it getting on the edges and making a line around the stamp, so this is very informative once again. your tips are great ie being careful not to put your card stock on top of the over lapped ink, also putting the lid back on the stamps so 1) they dont dry out and 2) you dont accidently get ink smeared on the back of your card.
My goodness how messy my hands were getting lol. I made three christmas cards. using a technique I used with the school youth club years ago when we made christmas tags out of old christmas cards.
Also a freind sent me a christmas card once where she used old christmas cards cutting the picture into three sections and gluing them on a different colour background with a gap in between each section.
I cut out various shapes in a different coloured paper glued them on to the card stock then cut the picture from the christmas card and glued them on top.
On one I slightly smeared the glue and it looked rough when dry, so thought what would Lindsay do, well I made a little bow and glued it on :) (bow, courtesy of the loops I cut out of my tops that always poke out of your clothes when you wear them)and so I cut them out and save them. they have finally come in useful. Thanks to you teaching me that everything has a use.
I also used the ribbon just to add a co ordinating colour at the bottom of the other two cards as I forgot how I did the previous bow.
Then I added the finishing touches with sentiments with my stamps :) well chuffed with the results!
On one I messed up the sentiment because there was not enough ink on one side so I re inked but it did not line up properly! So I found a pack of photo paper that my hubby got free with our new printer. I re printed the sentiment on a corner of that and cut it out and stuck that over my mistake:)
So hey presto two mistakes that could have ruined my cards turned out cool because you have taught me to tackle anything Thankyou. Ps I am not very technically, savy . but when I get chance to get my son to show me how to post stuff up on your face book page I will share the results with you. Thank you Lindsay for all your help and guidance :) oh and I cant wait to make the envelopes too after watching your tutorial on that one :)
I am so proud of you!
Great information, thanks ...
...I like very much, that you encourage people to use what's in stock :-)
I am really enjoying your Stamp School. Brilliant idea!
Karen Erwin thank you Karen:D
Thank you so much for doing this series! I'm just beginning and I'm pretty sure that I'm overthinking my card design when I don't need to be and then I just get frustrated. This is a darling card!
Lola Larue thanks!
Hi Lindsay, I really love this card. Thank you :)
Very pretty card!
Oh like the card too!
Dear Lindsay: It was a great idea to do these stamping tutorials.I am a new stamper so this is exactly what I needed.Anyway I enjoy all of your videos. You are really the best. Many thanks for your instructions. I only wish I could live near you,but I live in Florida. I am not complaining I love Florida but it would be nice to take some classes from you.Take care of yourself you are needed. Love Elsa

Great beginner card tutorial.
Very pretty card.
Even tho' I have been stamping and making cards for years now I still enjoyed watching the tutorial, I still learn a tip here and there!
TFS
Anita
Same for me. Lindsay always adds some little something that makes me sit up and take notice of something I could add to my arsenal!!!
This series is really great, in the past I did stamping... sometimes great results and sometimes not. I really appreciate this series as I am learning how to with less trial and error! Plus if I forget (yes I do take notes in my binder) I can review your great videos. You rock!
thanks so much Jackie! I am glad you are enjoying the stamp school! Thanks for commenting!
On clear stamps before using especially if using dye ink use versamark before using your ink, it's cleaner than using erasers.
Excellent instructions
lovely card and great tip to use multiple inks on one stamp :o)
Thank you! I love it!
What a beautiful card Lindsey, I just love your tutorials. Each one gives me so much information and I am having so much fun trying new things. I noticed you had two thumbs down, what in the world could any one find wrong with this video.
peggyswain Who knows, it is a rare occasion when I don't get a few LOL!
Really simple, and as usual, with simple things it's timeless and beautiful. Good Tutorial Lindsay. paula
p horn thanks Paula:)
Beautiful! BTW: the leaves actually are images of rose leaves on that stamp so they are perfect with the rose image! Yea! 😉
Love ur channel!
Very pretty card. Thank you...
Thank you for yet another awesome lesson. Hugs Farah ❤️
Farah CJ thanks!
Sweet!
Nice card Lindsay!!
When you said PSP the first thing I was thinking of was Paint Shop Pro LOL that is a program I love and have myself :)
monchri08 I use that too and their video editor, LOVE corel software!
I love those Memento inks! I've gotten a bunch of them on sale at Michaels here in Canada.
Thank you so much!
love the card..... Thank You
PSP stands for PlayStation Portable, so you were almost right! :)
Ramo thanks:)
Wish I'd have had videos when I first started. Good ideas. Edna
just bout a little bin of those little stamps today! they are called color box and it was a great price with a 50% cupon
Aloha, thanks!
Beautiful card. I have that leaf stamp too and I'm sure you are right, it's at least 15 years old. LOL Just goes to show how good quality products will last a long time. The one thing I have found that doesn't age well is the foam backing for mounting rubber stamps and making them "cling" stamps. On the ones I did about 10 years ago the foam tears and splits when I try to take them off a plastic block, or they won't stick at all now. I have some pieces of the backing left over and the paper has adhered to them so tightly I can't tell which side was supposed to be the sticky one the rubber stamp should be mounted on. I think I'll stick to the Aleene's Tack It and skip the foam backing in the future.
I just love your videos !! I had accumulated a small collection of those tsukineko dew drop ink pads using JoAnn's coupons and I was wondering what else I could do with them. I honestly was a bit disappointed in some of them as the colors were very light to where you could hardly see them but this video revamped their usage and I'll be keeping these now instead of giving them away.
MYT CR8TiV I really like them!
Nice tutorial, something that I've always taught is, the softer the pad the lighter the touch, don't press pigment ink pads as hard as you would dye ink pads.
TheHappyDiane very true!
Great...
Great video, thank you xXx
It's so true. The little stamps work best. Every time I use a larger stamp it fools me. It fakes me out looking like the stamp is inked, but they lie. The big pads are liars!!! Besides I swear the little stamps seem to be overflowing with beautiful ink!
Teri Williams hahaha:)
I hope you are having a wonderful day! Love watching!! I love that your crafts are so varied. My craftyness is all of it also. Nice to know that I am not the only one who can't just stop with a few crafts.
I do have a question. I recently purched faber castell 50 oil pastel in the red box. I just read 5 and up on the box. Lol although my question is, are they water soluble? If not what would you use to clean up with or to blend with?
If they are not water soluble, what would be your moderate priced of water soluble ones be.
Thank you so much! You are so fun and very informative. Enjoy watching so much. You give me so much inspiration. I don't think you really know how much you mean to people like myself.
Tamala Owens you blend oil pastels with your finger! Or if you want to keep you fingers clean, you could use an old rag or some type of cloth, or even a paper towel. If you want you could even use a solvent, something like turpenoid if you're in the states. You could also use paint thinner. I use it with my pastels and I even use it with coloured pencils! Hope this helps!! :D
Tamala Owens Aww thanks! Mineral spirits will bend those, they are fun to use! For watersoluble try Portfolio by Crayola, they are great and about $10 a 24 pack of big pastels, similar to gelatos but WAY cheaper and great quality:)
Thank you for your answer.
Thank you so much for this. Have so been looking forward to these classes. I know paper comes in different gsm, here we can buy separate pieces. What would I look for?
Jean Cormac 80# to 110# is what we have here, maybe around 200gsm, I am not sure it should be a good card base weight, not too flismy.
Thank you for these stamp class videos! Can I use pigment inks or will they smudge?
it should work
Hi Lindsay, thank you for the tutorials. Have recently got few Memento Dew Drops Ink Pads. Can you please tell how long do these last. Am not using them frequently. Also, whether soft pastel sticks can be used on stamps. Thanks!!
Lindsay, this was a great video. Loved the technique for the background. Where did you get the rose stamp?? I like to make cards with flowers, and like that I can water color them or use my markers and embossing inks to color them. Thanks for sharing. I love learning from you.
Roberta Sharpe it's by Rubber Stampede
Hi Lindsay, loving the stamp school. Is stamping something you could use with scrapbooking ? For backgrounds and embellishments? Looking forward to your up and coming watercolour painting lesson too😄🎨👍✏️ Laura x
doris2day1 absolutely! These mini pads I am using for stamp school live in my scrapbook bag. I have a binder of stamps that are specifically ones I like to scrap with. It is a great addition. You can make your own papers and embellishments. Give it a try:)
Great lesson Lindsay!!! Thank you! I did come up with something i would like you to show us... You know how you can use markers to color up a stamp then huff on it to remoisten ?.... Can you show us that with a really detailed stamp and what markers would work best for that technique... Hugs! deb
Deb Terry I have already taped that and it will air next week:)
thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich when did you add.mind reading to your resume? Lindsay, I LOVE your videos! Thank you for all that you do!
Thank you for all the information I have been scared to even try stampimg...You have made it so easy for me to understand :)
That should have have said keep them coming, just reread my comment. Paul in London
Paul Morgan I knew what you meant:)
Thank-you for replying re ink pad.No I haven't added water.Just bought a dud! We don't have Joannes in New Zealand .What a pain!!!!! My daughter came and re ink it.. The re inkers are $10.50 new zealand Thank -you for caring..
Great tutorial Lindsay! I was wondering... I had placed a cling stamp on a block (perhaps two years ago) It got shuffled around and then packed and moved, without ever removing it from the block. When I discovered it, it's stuck. I like the stamp and have been keeping it on the block in fear of tearing it. I was going to try glycerin to see if it would soften it or slick it up, but I don't want to prevent it then from sticking in the future. Any thoughts?
Lisa Quan i'd try soaking it in hot water. If that does not work maybe try getting a palette knife or putty knife under an eddge and lifting. this happens to some clear stamps in the package too, it tends to be the cheaper ones, they fuse to the plastic, it's weird. Good luck:)
Beautiful card! Question: does the ink stain the water brushes or will it rinse out? I have the little square ones that you usually use in your videos for inking edges, they're dye based I think. Thanks in advance xx
Sammy Jo It will rinse out but any staining is not a big deal, the brushes will still work fine:)
Could you please do a video tutorial on the different types of ink pads? Dyes vs. pigments vs. sprays, etc.? I'm never sure which ink type to use and if you could do an overview, that would be great. Thanks!!
Kathryn Jackson here you go: ruclips.net/video/mUjOBCJyufo/видео.html
Thanks!!!
Linsday thank you for all the awesome videos. I'm fairly new with stamping, paper crafting and I've been buying things for my craft room. I'm having a difficult time creating and don't know where to start. I have a lot of the materials and tools but when it comes down to it I don't know what to really do. I've watched many videos. I just don't want to waste any materials if I mess up. My craft room is pretty much stocked with materials, supplies and tools but don't know where to start. Any ideas and or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Oh Janette, you need to play and forget about wasting supplies, there is no such thing, you see you either succeed or you learn, win win!
thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich thank you. Your so right. I've been trying to buy everything and that's just not possible. I was thinking I will start when I get more stamps and dies since there's so many beautiful and cute stamps and dies. It's endless. Oh my gosh! You have some great advice hun. Love watching you. It's so enlightening.
I want to ask will regular white cardstock good for stamping and using water color pencil to color or using alcohol marker to color? or do I need to use watercolor paper for my stamping imagine then cut it out?
You cat start with regular cardstock and upgrade if you want something more specific. It's pretty good for most card stuff.
Very pretty card! Are those little Memento inks waterproof?
***** no but when they dry they don't bleed easily.
thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich Thanks for the info! :)
What white cardstock do you recommend for the beginning stamper that will work with water pens etc?
Rich Parker Well, I say go with the stuff at staples or walmart so you won't be afraid to use it. We are using regular white cardstock here for stamp school so you will not be afraid to experiment. Watercolor marker are more forgiving than copics so it is fine. If you want to step it up I recommend Hot Press watercolor paper. Fabriano make s a 75 sheet block for about $20 that is a good buy, try Jerry's Artarama or Blick online for best prices. BUT the regular white cardstock is all we are using for Stamp School:)
can you tell me the name of the leaf stamp youre using??
I am afraid that i am going to make cards and never send them because i worked so hard on them. lol
ive been do this 25 years you wont i use too my 2 of each for back up
Hi Lindsay. I haven't been able to find an appropriate place to ask these questions. What do I do with the foam stamps that I bought for the kids, some of which I would like to use myself rather than just throw them away? Also, I have a lot of the brass embossing stencils that my hands aren't strong enough to emboss with the stylus. Can they be used in a Big Shot machine, or are there other ways to use them? Thanks, Dee
Deirdre Powers Hi Deirdre, yes the brass stencils can be used in Big Shot and other machines, sorry cannot remember the plate stacking order but it can be found on RUclips. Also brass stencils can be used as stencils to chalk or ink through, this comes out great. can also be used with stencil pastes. Hope these ideas help.
Lindsay, what is the brand name if the mini ink pads? Can't find them on Hallmark
Thanks!
Bridgton1 Memento
Thanks for no 2. My black tear drop ink goes spotty. Is there a reason for that? Thank-you Lindsay..
Margaret House hmm, how long have you had it, maybe it needs a reinking? Did you add water to it? You can get a bottle of reinker for a couple of dollars, I have one in black and rich cocoa, my two oft-used colors. Joann has 50% off now I think if you wan to stock up:)
Do you prefer watercolor markers or alcohol based and why ???
Fabulous Flamingo watercolor. You don't need as many, you can use cheaper paper for good results, it's overall cheaper and easier to learn.
thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich thanks for the feedback, I'm trying to decide what markers to invest in
Ty Lindsay i have a question could you please give me some names of dies because i have looked for them but sizzix is the only one i know is there any others and dies and stamps ty
Louise Bailey sure, for the thin ones Spellbinders, Cherry Lynn, Local King (with pretty matching stamps), Tessler, Papertrey ink, Impresasion Obsession, Tattered LAce, Darice (the best bargain of all!)
Ty soooooooo much Lindsay
