This is actually a great. Being a GM lover myself, I didn't actually think I would like this car, I didn't have high hopes for it. But it's actually great! And what a lot of you complainers about the engine need to understand is that all cars nowadays are getting smaller engines for fuel economy. Yes, cars back then did have bigger engines but the earth wasn't the main concern. Remember when Jeep Wranglers had V8's? Pepperridge farm remembers... As for the interior. It's much better than what I have seen in other new cars. The cheap plastic does not feel like cheap plastic, it actually feels pretty premium compared to others. (I know people think the cloth is strange too but I think they incorporated in into the car just fine) Exterior is also fine and sharp.
I just bought a new 2017 Malibu LT, I have been driving for 40 years and this is one of the nicest driving and riding cars that you can get in this price range. I saved $9,000 of the sticker price with discounts and rebates, paid $19, 600 for a $26,000 car.
I bought a used 2017 premier for 21k with 9k mikes on it couple months ago. Best car I ever had. I have it in white which I think is the best color looking wise for this car. You guys are way to hard on that Chevy. Even the old Malibu was a great well screwed together car that was probably the safest in its class. I've had many customers come in over the years and while the Camry and Accord are well put together cars the Malibu is right up there with them. Customer satisfaction when speaking to the customers has been very high with Malibu owners from 2010 on up.
My dad owned a 2015 Camry and now he owns a new Malibu and the Camry was much better. It also drives like a golf cart. The engine has to work so much harder than the Camry did to go anywhere. And Apple CarPlay is really annoying when you're trying to watch RUclips videos. The Camry will always be king in my book.
Jay Cogan I love my 2014 Malibu. Just wish the design reps at Chevy continued in that direction for exterior design and not this new whale faced fish they’ve debuted for ‘16. Maybe they’ll go back to that sexy ‘15 model design with nothing but LED’s, AWD options and more horsepower.
Have you had any notable concerns with it? I'm getting ready to buy my first car and I really think I'm going to go with a '17 Malibu LS. But all I see are people calling it below average or just a bad pick. I think it looks great inside and out.
Why is everyone so obsessed with soft-touch? It is usually still a type of plastic. I say if it looks nice and doesn't rattle, then it's good. Soft-touch is nice to see, but it seems to be an obsession.
GM makes the very best cars in class, and value. Other car companies make exception vehicles, sometimes even "nicer", but dollar for dollar nothing comes close to the stuff GM produces. More so GM has made strong efforts in the last 15 years or so to improve things consumers don't like. Don't get me wrong. I loved my Ford Fusion - I think it is the best looking sedan on the road today - Period. The interior is also very nice. Which is a bit curious because I told myself I wouldn't touch the previous major design. But you are going to pay a couple thousand more for that quality. Also the the driving ability of GM's stuff is head and shoulders above that of anything in the same class. My Chevy Cruze would toast my Ford Fusion, but much more important to me my Chevy Cruze try to kill me in nasty winter conditions. When there was 3 inches of snow on the ground I would refuse to drive my own car, and instead practically steal my mom's Malibu - She didn't like it one bit, but I wasn't about to die because the Fusion decided it wanted to head towards a ditch. Sure you can talk about driving skill, but this is the same driver in two different cars, so driving ability to mute. I also happen to know that should I ever get into a head on collision the Chevy is capable of saving me life. Despite the car being totaled, I walk away without any injuries. I won't say I'd never buy a non GM vehicle, but I don't believe any other company has the value they do.
Are you supposed to be able to see the radiator in the bottom of the front bumper? Look closely at the beginning of the video. Can I buy something to protect the bottom of the radiator? At 53 seconds
my younger brother has this car, from the outside it looks about the same size as a sentra, but inside its extremely roomy, good gas. mileage, Smooth ride. The only part my brother said he kinda disliked I'd when the car is idle, like at a traffic light, the engine shuts off... I guess that's a feature to save gas etc. But my brother said he could do without it
I think they killed it here, the only part I would want to change is the front, I cant put my finger on it but its just not perfect for my own tastes. Still, looks great for what it is.
+Acc0rd79 This is the Impala look that also appears on the Traverse, Cruze, and Equinox (the best selling CUV in the U.S.), so it is a Chevy family look.
I've had mine about a year. It was a rental that I bought from Enterprise. I love the appearance of the car but the clear coat is already coming off. I live in Texas so I can attribute that to the sun and heat. The inside is spacious but it's also a comfortable ride for my 4'9 frame. The rear vents are great because I have a toddler. My biggest complaint in the lack of power in the 1.5L LT model. Even after cleaning my throttle body, and replacing my intake filter and MAF sensor it's still a painfully sluggish car. Although I am comparing it to my previous cars, a Mini Cooper and a Civic.
Just purchased a 2017 Malibu and it's great awesome!!!!! It's the 1.5 LT and it's gets it in he highway! Great job on this model!!! Unfortunately I have the 2013 edition and it has some flaws that they corrected with this one!!!!!!
I don’t understand all the negativity toward the Malibu and GM. They’ve redesigned it into a sharp looking, competitive mid size sedan…admittedly, something it was lacking before. The General has also paid all of their bailout money back plus interest, and are making better cars than ever before. For those complaining about interior plastics, you can’t price something at $20,000-$30,000 and expect premium grade materials. Everyone seems to want premium features and connectivity, yet if it were offered, they would balk at the price. You can't have it both ways. It's an excellent vehicle for the common everyday driver.
We bought the 2017 Optima SXL and sooo many comfort and safety features even after 2 years we still need the manual to figure out what they are!! With nappa leather interior!
Aiming to buy my first vehicle and really debating on this car....I found two that I really like (one from 2016 and another from 2017) both the exact same color, just the year and mileage seems to be different. Between this and a 2016 Camaro because it's always been a dream of mine to own one. Only problem is the Camaro costs like $6,000 more and don't know how I feel about the color. Not to mention the Insurance would cost more....
I do own a 2017 Malibu ! ive owned it for 3yrs . its the same color that you show in this video . Mine is a Ls model. but I do love that 2.0T model . maybe my next car to purchase later !
winner of 2016 jd power 3 yr RELIABILITY ratings, besting even toyota camry. I have to wonder where reliability perceptions come from and how they are scored. JD Power asks customers rather than relying on media hype or second hand anecdotes. Chevy beats out Toyota and Honda surprisingly.
JD Power doesn't mean anything - initial reliability means nothing. Look up long-term Consumer Reports videos. Or, go on Autotrader and see how many 200,000+ mile Camry's there are for sale vs. Malibu's
The 2016 is my 2nd Malibu. Very reliable, no major issues. Good value. Main fault is poor rear view visibility due to high rear deck. You simply can't rely on rear view camera except for narrow view backing up. A fault of many of the new car styles.
I got "Engine Power Reduced" last wednesday and the car engine totally died for a couple of hours, then it started on again alone , dealer still don't find the root cause of why this happened. I'm starting to be worried if this will happen frequently :(
The rental company can have this. The GMPP extended warranty was the only part of a Chevrolet purchase that I did right. There's a reason why people say to get rid of a car before 100,000 miles.
I’m renting one of these right now while my car is in the paint shop. Visually the car is pretty nice to be honest except for the weird shaped nav screen in the dash. It is pretty slow too. It really should be a v6.
@@MichelLinschoten Malibus better looking then Impala. The proportions are off on the Impalas front and rear fascia. Looks like a bloated old man version of the Malibu.
The worst thing about this Malibu is the auto stop. An annoying and horrendous feature. The 2019 Malibu will have a button to disengage it. It's about time Chevrolet.
how to score a car? sit down into it for 10 seconds, touch something, think is cheap, get out saying is embarrasing. Well, as Rush sings "quick to judge, quick to anger, slow to understand"
they seems like have not fix that stupid front headlight design !! on the old models replacing a head light bulb is a hassle for real !! you have to disassemble part of the front bumper the inside plastic of the fender. so you can reach and disassemble headlight is about two hours processes imagine paying a mechanic to do it for you ?! dumb ass GM . i was about to buy one .. but no thank you such simple thing become such a big story !!
***** so replacing by my self a light bulb for the cost of them in which can reach up to $27 to $50 and add to them at least another $100 just for a specializes mechanic in Chevy's !!! if your money that easy .no wonder why you ask me that question !! :-) plus you forgot if that happen to you on a weekend or a holidays the police can't wait to keep on pulling you over for that stupid problem. you must have indoor place to do it your self so if you live in areal cold climate !! see where I'm going ? cars made to make our life easier better and safer so far they seems to be messing out that point.
+East17A It's because they want you to bring it to the service center for any little tiny thing.. A friend of mine had an old Lumina back in the day, they buried the battery under several other components. Back then we were like "why in the hell did they do this!??!" Now I know, they want to bolster their service center business!
bliglum that is a very ugly situation and a very bad engineering. by these stupid ideas its proven that they have not consider any safety or safe product to be made .. all the concerns is been put for the principle of making money and making money only .. for a very stupid engineered idea on a car in frozen climate areas that can be enough reason for someone to die because the lack of non visual battery . or get expensive ticket because you didn't have enough time changing a stupid light bulb. !!
East17A Yeah. Many would try to defend it by saying that they aren't in it for the love of making dull sedans, they're in it to make money! It's just business! But there's a fine line between taking care of your customers, and anti consumerism.. And sadly, it seems GM is too often leaning towards the latter. If only they could realize that offering a bit more, going the extra mile (pardon the pun), earns customers for life! That's so much more valuable than the short term gains provided by using cheap dash materials, or unnecessarily convoluted designs intended to pull more people into the service centers.
was a mechanic for about 3 years up until last November...bad news but most make and model are the same when it comes to replacing light bulbs, those Ford's are a bitch to get to also, try changing a turn signal on a new escape
Ok. I am Trying to buy a new car, but can't decide. I have a 626 which I love, so I was gearing towards the new Mazda 6. Only con is that it doesn't offer v6 engine. This was my second choice. Don't know much about cars...did some research. Which one is the better choice if either?

I'm buying my first car and I think I'm going with this one! so excited
How is it any problems
Have you had any notable concerns with it? I'm getting ready to buy my first car and I really think I'm going to go with a '17 Malibu LS. But all I see are people calling it below average or just a bad pick. I think it looks great inside and out.
Looks better than the alternative american midsize.
The rear of that Malibu makes it similar to a Corvette style car. I mean these 2017 looks really nice!
This malibu is the best one yet!
Bout to get one of these this week 😭 I’m so excited!
This car looks good. Too bad Chevrolet are no longer in Europe.
Why is everyone so obsessed with soft-touch? It is usually still a type of plastic. I say if it looks nice and doesn't rattle, then it's good. Soft-touch is nice to see, but it seems to be an obsession.
I just bought this car today, is gorgeous!
Have you had any problems with it so far???
hows the car so far?
Marco Ramos really good had no problems with it I bought it with 83k miles on it and is running perfectly
daanceduh no problems at all is a great car
@@chiefs-30-ti88 alright thank you! I was considering this or a Kia Optima
I won't say I'd never buy a non GM vehicle, but I don't believe any other company has the value they do.
the 2.0 turbo is a modern sleeper for a Malibu. 5.7 seconds to 60 is nothing to sneeze at.
I own a Chevy Malibu 2017, and it’s amazing for me I don’t have wobbly seats either and it’s safe for the kids when and wherever I’m driving.
Have you had any major problems with it???
The ambient noise reduction @2:45 was in my 2006 Acura TL.
Now that looks brilliant
not so sure about the front but the rear looks awesome! reminds me a little of the Audi A7, and that is by far one of the best looking rear ends
Are you supposed to be able to see the radiator in the bottom of the front bumper? Look closely at the beginning of the video. Can I buy something to protect the bottom of the radiator? At 53 seconds
I had huge interest in the Malibu until I found out how cramped the seatbelts were and all of the other things the Malibu lacked.
my younger brother has this car, from the outside it looks about the same size as a sentra, but inside its extremely roomy, good gas. mileage, Smooth ride.
Richard Joash Tan English much?
I was the same when I first saw it but it's grown on me or atleast in this color it's pretty cool looking
+Acc0rd79 You really have to see it in person to develop an appreciation for it. It really is a sharp, good-looking car.
+Acc0rd79 This is the Impala look that also appears on the Traverse, Cruze, and Equinox (the best selling CUV in the U.S.), so it is a Chevy family look.
Love the music Micah, love the review Zach, like the new Malibu GM.
Love the comment Craig D have a good day LIFEISACIRCLE...lol
What were some of the flaws? I am considering getting a used 2012 from my brother in law for $5000 only 68,000 miles.
This car sounds like a winner. This is what happens when US automobile manufacturers actually pay attention to their car lineup.
At 1:43 You made a typo there, Its the Ford FUSION not the Ford FUSSION.
We bought the 2017 Optima SXL and sooo many comfort and safety features even after 2 years we still need the manual to figure out what they are!! With nappa leather interior!
I am happy GMs make good looking car now.
Sonata nails this car and also Camry and Accord in Re/value.
I think this guy did a good job.
Also, I know he's an enthusiast when he talks about debadging his car. So :) Right there with ya.
I do own a 2017 Malibu ! ive owned it for 3yrs . its the same color that you show in this video . Mine is a Ls model. but I do love that 2.0T model . maybe my next car to purchase later !
finally a review without toooooo much silly jokes.
Im planning to buy one next week is this really worth it?
Really a good looking car! Nice to see GM actually bothering to design a car!
I'm quite surprise to hear those comments about how rubbish the car is compared with others brands, not premium of course.
I'm 5'3, i'm good! I also have a 2005 Chevy Malibu. I mean..........WOW! What a car!
winner of 2016 jd power 3 yr RELIABILITY ratings, besting even toyota camry.
Malibu's
I fucking hate this car so much... But it's so fucking reliable, it's ridiculous.
Good review and nice car, thanks.
The 2016 is my 2nd Malibu. Very reliable, no major issues. Good value. Main fault is poor rear view visibility due to high rear deck. You simply can't rely on rear view camera except for narrow view backing up. A fault of many of the new car styles.
Will make a nice rental car. looking forward to driving one the next time I travel.
This is a nice malibu. I wasn't a huge fan of the older models.
My 2015 Hyundai Sonata reduces fan speed to lower ambient noise during Bluetooth phone calls... this isn't something Chevy is doing first...
I got "Engine Power Reduced" last wednesday and the car engine totally died for a couple of hours, then it started on again alone , dealer still don't find the root cause of why this happened. I'm starting to be worried if this will happen frequently :(
Thanks for sharing your experience with this Chevy.
Hiii can you tell me about engine quality good or bad
Great lines!
The rental company can have this. The GMPP extended warranty was the only part of a Chevrolet purchase that I did right. There's a reason why people say to get rid of a car before 100,000 miles.
The styling is a bit garish to me but I suppose you can't really go wrong with this car. Crazy how it's available with a 1.5L motor though.
It's a looker.
Looks like a BMW/Tesla combination
Basel It really does! Good eye :)
Cheryl are you high right now
I’m renting one of these right now while my car is in the paint shop. Visually the car is pretty nice to be honest except for the weird shaped nav screen in the dash. It is pretty slow too. It really should be a v6.
one of the better looking midsized sedans. in my worthless opinion.
This is a beautiful car. By far the best looking of the family sedan line up. It's about time.
check a 2015.....this one clearly looks like a poormans impala
@@MichelLinschoten Malibus better looking then Impala. The proportions are off on the Impalas front and rear fascia. Looks like a bloated old man version of the Malibu.
The worst thing about this Malibu is the auto stop. An annoying and horrendous feature. The 2019 Malibu will have a button to disengage it. It's about time Chevrolet.
I am currently driving a Chevrolet Impala 2012 LS, and I am considering upgrading to this car in a few months. Is this a good upgrade?
Wishing the daytime running lights were together with the head lights. Sorry I’m really picky with cars 😂😂
2013 had the best front end and I loved the rear too!
It looks as big as a BMW 5-series!!
not even close
how to score a car? sit down into it for 10 seconds, touch something, think is cheap, get out saying is embarrasing.
The 2015 Malibu has optional HID headlights, odd that they've taken that away.
+Barobran92 Agreed. Although I like the red Fusion you have in your profile pic. I have one and its awesome, wish Ford had offered HID's for it.
GM doing its thing. hopefully they can keep it going.
Can you please please tell me the name of the color 🙏🏼
10/10 car! Maybe the only zonk is that it would be nice if it would be available as a station wagon.
GM, your cars are starting to look good and all but holy cow, at least make them hold their value.
i prefer the 2013-15 model
Ok. I am Trying to buy a new car, but can't decide. I have a 626 which I love, so I was gearing towards the new Mazda 6. Only con is that it doesn't offer v6 engine. This was my second choice. Don't know much about cars...did some research. Which one is the better choice if either?
This car is so nice might just gone head and buy this car
Keshia brown get a used fully loaded one that’s what I plan on doing from like 2017
