My heart aches with yours. My son is currently deployed to that part of the world. Not knowing what will happen from day to day is difficult. It was much easier being a military wife that it is being a military momma. We didn't have children during my husband's time of service. My son and his wife have 2 babies. I think that is what makes it harder. This is the second deployment in less than a year. We know to expect these things but this one is a little more difficult. Your emotions help us all see how big this is and that people really do care. Thank you for not hiding your emotions from us. It was a special gesture that is appreciated. God bless!

I was like, please God, let them close the skies over Ukrane. They did not. I just kept thinking about the poor people. My husband was trying to explain all the repercussions with that and all I could see was the families, the children, and the elderly. And of course, I have no answers. Just tears. With you being a person in the skies often, you probably know more than I do. Thank you for understanding.

For some reason, the sounds your bags made, the sounds of you cleaning and sanitizing, and sealing the chicken in bags was very comforting, along with your beautiful voice. I was a bit tense as the video started, but I felt like I was at home with my mom while she worked in the kitchen, with those comforting sounds she always made. I miss her so much. I can understand how it is. There is just so much unrest. It's frightful. I'm not watching much news anymore. Just fun Netflix and even Disney Plus. Just Calgon take me away kind of stuff.

I’m so sorry you are feeling upset. It means you love and care. I’m upset as well. It is so much to deal with COVID-19 and all the political unrest. I’m Jewish and any time political upheaval begins of any kind or civil rights are violated, it effects me because of the Holocaust. I get very scared and then I try to ask myself”What can I do?” We have a donation program to Ukraine through my husbands work. But I’m also going to contribute to a local woman’s shelter for woman’s history month. Sending you some positive energy.

Many base foods, fruit and veggies, if we in America eat the fresh food, the canned and shelf stable items can be sent to Ukraine, rather than like donating (disaster capitalism). Every one eat a bit less, be mindful of waste, cook base foods, etc. have the "savings" spread across the world. I do not if that works or not. But if it does even the poor, can help them and end up helping themselves too. (I think the govt makes puts aside foreign aid in the form of food but maybe if there is excess in the grocery store supply chain of boxed and canned items that maybe it would keep the cost of foreign aid food down or if the govt goes to these manufacturers, maybe that will drive the price down? That is what I am hoping.)
As usual a wonderful video. Keeping the home fires burning and tending to our home and family especially during these times is what keeps things going. We are all feeling the stress of the world right now so a cup of tea with a loved one and the blessings of daily routines and chores surely help to keep us counting our blessings while praying for the world. Denise, your reaction this morning to the world we all find ourselves in was not dissimilar to how we all feel. Things are so out of control and there seems little we can do ourselves. I've learned that personally, doing what I can where I am for those near me is important. Giving to local food bank, donating to organizations that I can trust to help those suffering, etc...You are doing a service teaching others to prepare for hardships that may or may not come our way. Frugality in meals, keeping a home in order and caring for it to provide a place of refuge for family, visitors, you do this and do it well. It matters. It all matters. And we pray... Bless you, dear lady.

I remember watching the Vietnam War. Its the first war that was truly aired on TV. We saw it right in our living rooms. I think as we mature we see how much we are like instead of different. We are all just moms dads grandparents sisters brother friends just wanting the best for our love ones no matter where you live in the world. Prayers for all

@@homemakingwithdenise The can meat is Very good to add to your storage. But the pricing is a bit high. I shop at FOODCO grocery store out here in Cali. I think it is affiliated with Krogers. Also, I like your vacuum sealer. I just purchased the AMBIANO vacuum Food sealer a couple of days ago, while I was shopping at ALDI’s. I haven’t opened it up and used it yet though. Mine was a reasonable price I thought, at $35.00. Oh Mrs. Denise by the way, I’m a Vocational Nurse😊. I really enjoy your channel a lot.

"I just don't know" is a phrase I have been using a lot lately with my own daughters who are 11 and almost 13 and with my middle school students. "I just don't know" and really don't have suitable words for my feelings because it is such a terrible mix of sadness, anger, and anxiety.

Canned cinnamon rolls are so handy . I also use canned biscuits at times. I too, am struggling to stay current in these frustrating electronic times. My latest challenge was an airline reservation that the company changed several times. Virtual hugs for you from Montana.

I have been going through RUclips videos to rediscover old recipes or depression recipes. And have learned how to make my own yeast. But also found out you can freeze yeast. I put mine in a Ziploc bag. Every time I find it I purchase at least 1 3pack. And add it to my stash. I also have discovered how good Salmon patties are. And makes quite a few from one can. Or a good quick to fix item for unexpected company or snack with a dipping sauce. And Tuna noodle casseroles. 😄 Haven't made that in years. But are things I'm adding to my pantry preps. And I am getting a hand crank wheat grinder soon. In our preps we forget that potatoes can be used just like flour. For breads doughnuts even candies.

I don't know if you shop at Costco but for vitamins they are great, I get a 300 pack of vitamin D 5000 milligrams for $11. Also the quality is usually great. My nieces husband is Nigerian and makes joloff rice, it's delicious!
I don't have a Costco membership. They're pretty far from our house and my hubby doesn't like driving out there.
I had to take a break. I was like this last week. Something in me really broke when there was mention of babies being born in bomb shelters. I had to really break from it then. We can’t be inundated with it or it’ll really tear at some of us.

You might want to check the shelf-edge price labels in the store. Where I am, the price per ounce, pound, etc - is already on that label. That's what I use for figuring out the best price. Sometimes, what's on "sale" isn't the best buy. And I'm with you on the heartbreak of what's going on in Ukraine. Your tears are shared by many.

I totally understand about using those digital coupons. My Kroger told me if I go to the service desk they will give me the discount w/o loading the coupons. Yes, I agree with you about the ‘world’ situation. It’s all so unnecessary and heartbreaking. I have a friend in my Bible Study that is from Russia and has family in Russia AND Ukraine. So, we get updates at least twice a week… she is beside herself and feels so helpless as you can imagine.

Yes. I remember Vietnam as well. The news gave us the soldier death counts everyday. And the War Journalists over there had short video and comments on events everyday. We have been through hard times in our lives. But nothing like experiencing war or bombings in till 9-11. My heart breaks for the people of the Ukraine. To have to leave all behind. And only carry a small bag or luggage with wheels. To get to the border on foot in sub zero temps. Just can't imagine!!
