Hey everyone! Thanks for watching my latest video. If you're new here and curious about Interlu, check it out at interlu.io. Interlu is a SaaS that simplifies and enhances your search for UK companies. I'd love to hear your thoughts on both the product and the video. Your feedback is greatly appreciated! 👍
Hey! I'm your 5000th subscriber. I loved the video and was curious about how you find clients, as I've been experiencing a bit of a dry spell lately.
Thanks for subscribing Erin! This is a very good question - I've been lucky enough to build a network of clients over the past 7 years of freelancing and mainly rely on referrals. I'm working on a few lead magnets at the moment but haven't had any success from them yet. 🔥
great product, are you guys thinking about applying to any accelerators?
I have been thinking about it - as it would be great to work on this problem full full time. I’d like to see if I can get traction without vc money and if I feel I want to go to the moon then apply with revenue, growth, etc. 🙌
Have you got any accelerators you’d recommend?
@@JacobSargentTech Neo is a great one that kind of goes a little undercover other than the time when they got in public beef with YCombinator. Best of luck!
Thanks for the advice- I’ll take a look at Neo!
Hey Jacob, how long does it take to learn react native (for cross platform mobile apps) assuming someone knows MERN stack web development.
Hey Eliel, great questions I would say a couple of weeks to get up to speed. Although you must also consider all of the extra domain knowledge needed to submit to the app/play store!
@@JacobSargentTech Awesome. Will take it into account.
You're welcome :)
Hi Jacob, you seem very optimized in your workflow and time management, truly inspiring. as a subscriber to your newsletter I have two questions.
How do you deal with distractions?
Do you spend time on activities like gaming?
Hey, thanks for your comment and questions. For focus I'm a big fan of the the Pomodoro Technique, give it a google and try it out - I'm really bad with distractions and always need to set my environment to reduce them. I used to game a lot but not so much anymore, perhaps twice a month I may play a bit of xbox!
Hello, great project, how can i contribute to this project?
Hey, thanks for your comment! I'm thinking of ways of how others can contribute and I don't think the product is at the right stage yet. I'll be sure to announce on this channel when it is. Cheers 🍻
great video. how were you able to download the CH db? The bulk download has a 1 month lag and the api is rate limited to about 100 requests / min.
Thanks for your comment and great question - so they have a streaming service which you can provide a start date (which you put the date of the bulk download in) and they will stream all updates from that date and all updates in real time once it's caught up.
So you end up with a full up to date DB of uk companies.
Hope that makes sense :)
@@JacobSargentTech Oh nice, thanks for the quick reply. There are some interesting ones in the GOV.uk API catalogue actually.
I have a partial collection of the full db focusing on some particular SICs. What happens if I link that up with the streaming service? Would it be possible to only update the matching records in my db? I have never worked with streaming before.
Yeah so you could just set it up to filter events only matching the companies you already have. Obviously there’s a bit more to it than that! Hope this helps!
Did you use websocket for autocomplete or just api call after each character typed in?
I use a debounced api call, but a web socket makes way more sense now. Maybe I’ll change it up! Thanks for the comment 🙌
@JacobSargentTech Thanks for the reply, it's nice interacting with someone that goes through the same struggles as I do, doing SaaS.
Yes it's nice to know you're not alone!!
Love seeing the progress of Interlu! Btw congrats on 5k subs 🔥
Thank you, means a lot as I love your content! 10k next 📈🔥
