      @karamfaez19 4 дня назад

      did it work for u ? and what is difference between putting extra weight on 3,9 and 12 ?

    • @PeterNordstrom-rd3if
      @PeterNordstrom-rd3if 3 дня назад

      @karamfaez19 yes it works great. Adding lead to 3 and 9 adds stability so the racquet doesn't move as much when you hit the ball. Adding at 12 adds more power to the shot. Remember that Adding weight increases the overall weight of the racquet (you can always take it off if you don't like it) and heavier racquets are slower than lighter ones. You want the heaviest racquet that you can comfortably wield., so don't over do it either. Play around with it and see what works for you. I also like adding lead to the middle (on the V that connects the handle to the frame) as that adds even more stability, especially good for racquets that are hard to control.

    This is exactly the review I've been looking for. Been playing "aero" versions for 10+ years starting with the APD... Switched to the 2023 last year ('the standard") right after it came out after playing with the PA 2019 for a few years. Really like it for all of the reasons you mentioned.... better control and comfort with good spin generation for us mortal players. I just picked up the Rafa (cause I just had to) and haven't played with it much but my brief observations are similar to yours; feels stiffer and more harsh and more powerful. Played two matches last week; started my warmup with the Rafa but once the match started, went back to the PA 2023 right away. In fairness, I don't think I've given it enough time but I think I will only use it when I really feel I need the power boost. Would love a comparison between the Pure Aero 2019 Rafa and 2023 Rafa. The 2019 has the two main skips, ie: similar string density so they should be closer to each other. The 2023 feels very different than the 2019.

    • @RacketsRunnersVancouver
      @RacketsRunnersVancouver  Год назад +1

      Thank you for the awesome feedback! Not sure if you saw it but we did a full individual review of the Rafa a bit before releasing this comparison and I talked about the 2019 quite a bit in that one. I think the Rafa and the 2019 are much more similar in performance than either is to the 2023. The 2023 really is much closer to the 1 main skip aeros of old. The only thing I will say is that without the huge spin grommets of the 2019, the Rafa feels less artificially spinny and more solid, although still different in swing pattern because of that weight distribution.
      I do think it would be interesting to directly compare the 2019 and 2023 Aero, but for now if you want to check out our review of the 2023 back in September, a lot of what I say there is a direct comparison to the 2019.

    • @neilhyman8165

      @@RacketsRunnersVancouver Thanks for the reply. I am very familiar with the differences between the 2019 and the 2023. I played with the 2019 for the past few years but before that played with Aero Pro Drive for 10+ years. I switched to the 2023 last year when it came out. IMO, the 2023 has much better control, slightly less power, slightly less spin and a lower launch angle and more comfort. While the Aero's are not known for their "precision", it is better than the 2019 for being more precise with your shots and I've found volleys to be better. I finally played a full match with the Rafa and I'll admit it's starting to grow on me. I like the free extra power and I was pleasantly surprised not to be spraying balls while I adjusted, but it does feel slightly harsher than the 2023.

    • @neilhyman8165
      @neilhyman8165 Год назад

      @@pro71 I haven’t played with an old APD since around 2017 so it’s a bit hard to pinpoint but I’d say the Rafa has a slightly harsher / more jarring feel to it when you are out of the sweetspot. The difference being more feedback from the racquet to your hand. The sweet spot on the Rafa feels smaller than on the PA 2019 requiring better focus on where you make contact, so that probably contributes to perception of stringbed consistency. I switched to the Pure Aero 2023 to improve control because I did feel sometimes with the 2019, the ball would just go where it wanted to…LOL…. The 2023 “standard” is still better control-wise than the Rafa but the Rafa is somewhere in between the 2019 and the 2023 std. a by product of that slightly harsher feel is being more connected to the ball. It’s so subtle. I hope I’m making sense here. The thing I do like about the Rafa is the extra pop on serve returns when facing bigger servers. More depth and pace when just punching returns back.

Also, I play the Pure Drive 100 with Hyper G (at 55lbs), it's a very good racket for me but I do feel it lacks control in some situations. I do however love the feel of it when I hit the ball and the feedback I get from it. If i switch to the 'Standard' AERO, will I still get that nice soft feel and feedback? Still nearly all the power? But more control? Is the launch angle similar? Thanks... I've just been through so many rackets and don't want to buy yet another one I don't use for long!

      I do think the Aero 100 Standard has more control than the Ezone 100. Between the Pure Drive and the Aero, that is a very good question and probably worth its own video. Now that they have tightened up the string bed so much on this Aero, I do think it has more control than the Pure Drive. In terms of feel, they are both similar so I think once you get used to the Aero you will really like its response. Both the Drive and Aero are fantastic though so don't get too caught up between the two.

      In most cases, I agree that a thinner beam is quicker through the air but when there is a particular emphasis on aerodynamics for a specific swing pattern (which there is on the Aero), the racket is actually quicker for that swing style. In the Aero's case that's when you swing for a groundstroke with the racket face parallel to the ground.
