The usuals: Midnight Mass & Dune are obviously some outstanding recent titles. But I finally got around to watching Locke & Key and while its weak acting and dialogue still continued to dull what is otherwise a creative concept, it does some stuff I really appreciate.

Last Night In Soho began really well, but towards the end, and especially the ending, it becomes just that standard cheesy stuff you see in almost every low quality horror movie. I grade it 65/100 I think.

A little disappointing that they couldn’t stick with the non cheesy stuff but hey, at least we still got something interesting

If you like ''The Chestnut Man'', you should also check out ''The Bridge''. It's also a Nordic Noir crime series and as far as I know, it's also currently on Netflix. There are countless characters and sometimes the ties and connections between them feel a little bit forced into the script, however, I completely fell in love with this series a few years ago when it aired on German television.

When you said Lamb could've worked better as a short film. I haven't seen the movie yet so I wouldn't know if I agree or not but I do think short films are undervalued. They're not really something that gets funded because they're not something people pay to watch. I think most movies don't have short films play before their movies anymore so they're hard to discover.

I just got back from Last Night in Soho so was nice to find this video in my feed. I liked the filmography, the music and the acting. Being the big ol' chicken that I am, it was at times scarier and more disturbing than I had anticipated.
The Sixth Sense twist-after-the-twist at the end threw me off and felt unnecessary.
Regarding squid game, I don't agree with your final take on it. It was unpredictable in that way that I've seen a few Korean films try to pull off. But above all what threw me off was the very end. Our protagonist goes through a massive and somewhat believable character change due to his experience, he sees the light at the end, decides to finally be a dad to his daughter and then right as he boards the plane he is taunted into doing the same shit all over again... Very unbelievable, made me kind of annoyed even. Too obvious and inelegant of a way to allow for season 2.
In any case, that's just my smelly opinion. Feed for the gaping maw of the algorithm.
Thanks for the vid, I enjoy them all!

The ending of Lamb which was quite shocking really worked for me. I did not see that coming. An A24 film with Noomi Rapace and an Icelandic setting was a must see and I was not disappointed.

Squid game was spectacular! Every game challenges and pushed its characters to extreme heights where even choices that could be considered morally incorrect where understandable when seeing where the characters are coming from.

For Squid Games, there are many comics/manga/manuha, books, and anime of what it was, a survival game/Battle royale that is an allegory for capitalism. In asian comics they are prevalent spanning in the making and being entertaining, the same can be said for books where the cult classic Japanese story Battle Royale came from, and anime often makes a similar story once or twice a year. I guess the biggest one I can talk most about is the anime where they pretty have the same themes and being some kind of horror wackyness going on but Squid Games has better cinematography and overall better visuals.

Video was going great, until you tell me you liked squid game as a series. Characters follow an already planned plot, the dialogues are completely monologues, and every scene seems like the actors are trying their hardest because they just can't do better. Completely wasted my time on it. Only good thing was the first episode.
