Anterior placenta challenges include hearing the baby's heartbeat on the doppler and feeling the baby kick. It is common to have an anterior placenta even though your care provider might mention it in a way that makes you wonder if there are risks.

That's awesome! Thanks for watching. Let me know if there is a particular topic that you are interested in. I can point you in the right direction.
I have an anterior placenta, due with a girl, I am O+ and I am a front sleeper also found out about my pregnancy quite late I was already transitioning into the second trimester when I found out so this video has cleared up so much for me
So glad you found the video! I hope you'll stick around and consider subscribing. There are lots more videos here!
Fascinating! I have an anterior placenta with my current pregnancy. I am type O positive blood and am having a girl, but I am not a stomach sleeper. I also didn't feel her moving until I got to around 23 weeks, which was making me very anxious when everyone on social media was saying they felt their babies at like 15 weeks. But she is fine and moving around a ton now! Not actually sorry to miss the "Alien" experience, those videos creep me out! 😆
So glad you are feeling her now. Thanks for visiting the channel! I hope you hang around through your pregnancy.
Ok so, I am 20 weeks pregnant and two days back I got to know that I have an Anterior placenta. As I am watching this video to gain more knowledge on the topic, I felt my babies first kick, followed by many kicks. 💕 such a special feeling. Thank you for great, and easy to understand content about placentas ❤
Congratulations on the first kicks!!! And thank you for watching the video. I hope you find more videos in the channel to enjoy!!
I love the rapid fire answers lol
Im currently 20 weeks, first pregnancy, baby is a boy, major stomach sleeper, O negative blood type, and just got told I have an anterior placenta. I was shocked because my OB told me I wouldn’t feel the baby until later 24 weeks or so. I explained to her my baby must be a strong kicker because I’ve felt the baby since 19 weeks. I was just told to not worry about my placenta placement and I would feel less baby kicks. I asked all my female relatives, friends, and fathers side of the family if they had ever had an anterior placenta. To my surprise none of them knew what it was or had an anterior placenta. I appreciate being able to get more information on this & realizing its just the luck of the draw lol
Yes, absolutely luck of the draw! I'm so glad you found the channel. I hope you find other helpful videos here. We want to serve as a great resource for expecting families.
So interesting to see the crossover of experiences here- I found out I was pregnant nearly 4 months in this time and had an easy time sleeping on my stomach up until the 3rd trimester when I was truly showing and feeling limited. Thank you for the video! It helped ease my mind. It truly is normal and I wish they would have said that upon mentioning it.
Congratulations! It is so common that they act like it’s abnormal!!
Hi Alice! My name is Jackie. I am a new mama here! I am 31 weeks pregnant. I want to have as natural of a birth as possible. I do not know anything about forceps or vacuums other than that it can be used to assist during the delivery process. Could you please cover more in depth about forceps and vacuums being used during the deliver process? Like, why are they used? What are the pros and cons of each? Have you seen this used during your delivery experiences? And is there anything we can do to avoid this besides a lot of movement during labor? Thank you so much for all your videos! They have been so helpful and very educational! ❤️ Jackie
I have had two pregnancies with anterior placentas, and both babies were in the OP position. Hello, back labor! I worked really really hard and God was very good to me and in my second pregnancy with an anterior placenta baby cooperated and ended up in a good position when “Labor Day” finally came. I was so grateful! Still had back labor though, so that sucked. I wish my midwife had told me that anterior placenta could predispose baby to OP position, and given me a heads up on the implications in regards to my desire for an intervention-free labor and delivery. The more you know…!!
Thanks for all you do on this channel to help people know more and be empowered as they make decisions and experience pregnancy and birth!
Wow, thank you for sharing your story. I totally agree that the more you know the better. That’s my goal here on the channel l.
are you blessed with a boy or girl
@@luckyjan3366 I had one of each with anterior placentas! I believe that with another of my pregnancies I had an anterior placenta that moved upwards as the pregnancy developed. But i can’t remember for sure
I’m 33 weeks pregnant with a boy, found out I have an anterior placenta, and YES I have always always always slept on my stomach! I am however A- blood type, and baby has been head down facing my side the entire pregnancy.
The kicks though 😳 yah no problem feeling or seeing those- He’s kicked so hard during ultrasounds that he made the tech’s hand bounce!
Wow, you have a strong baby in there!
So interesting! Both my pregnancies have been with an anterior placenta. I’m a belly sleeper and my husband is 0+, my first baby was sunny side up and back labor was intense. Hoping my next labor is smoother!
Back labor can be rough! I hope your next labor is smoother too. ❤️Alice
Currently 25 weeks with a baby girl and told at my anatomy scan that I have an anterior placenta. I didn’t feel her move until 17 weeks and my husband couldn’t feel her until 20 weeks and he still doesn’t feel her often ☹️ but I am 100% primary stomach sleeper prior to pregnancy so I found that very interesting!!
Give it some time and you'll feel more and more!
Its really interesting to listen. I’m 20 weeks pregnant with a boy. Im 0+ but not a stomach sleeper 😊 I can feel the movements since the 16th week but its still very lightly.
Do you also have an anterior placenta?
New subscriber and love your videos! 21 weeks with my first and have an anterior placenta. I feel movement, but me and my husband haven't been able to feel it from the outside, yet. When does that typically happen with the placenta in the front?
Also aiming for an unmedicated birth so will watch more of your videos on that. :D
Welcome to the channel, so glad you are here! Congratulations on your pregnancy. It’s hard to say when you’ll feel movement on the outside. I would guess in the next few weeks. My recommendation for your next videos to watch are part 1&2 on how to have an unmedicated birth. ❤️
I’m 19week pregnant and have placenta anterior stil dont feel bany kicking hope will feel it sooon 🙏thank for your video

During my first pregnancy and my second/current pregnancy (34 weeks) I have had anterior placentas! Both babies have been girls, my blood type is O positive, and I'm usually a stomach sleeper... So maybe all of those factors really do help determine the placenta's position? 😅 I will say that for both pregnancies, I have had a lot of visible movement across the front and sides of my bump- so much so that it can be a little bit physically uncomfortable at times! So apparently not everyone experiences less movement. 🙂 Thanks for the fun and informative video!
Thank you for sharing! So interesting that you see a lot of movement. Maybe you have super strong babies. 🤣
Thanks for watching and commenting!
This video explained perfectly what an anterior placenta is. I have always been a stomach sleeper and I’m having a girl in 8 weeks. I didn’t feel any movement until 21 weeks now she kicks hard on my sides when laying down.
Thank you for watching! I hope you are able to find other videos on the channel that help you through your pregnancy and birth journey! ❤️Alice
🎉 I can totally relate! I’m due end of May with my second, and we didn’t find out I was pregnant until til week 16- hindsight? It was probably the placental position! I’m 35 weeks now and baby is breech, leading me to further investigate whether this also affects baby’s ability to move to head down, they were head down for a while but flipped 🙃 It’s fascinating how different my two pregnancies have been! Wishing you a safe delivery of baby girl ❤
I hope baby has or will flip back for you!
@@birthtoolbox Returning with the best news - they flipped right at 37 weeks! Thanks for your well wishes!
Great video! I am O+, have had anterior placentas with all 3 healthy pregnancies, my last was OP but turned during labor, and my current baby is OP too! I was told when I was younger that I have a tilted/retroverted uterus, I wonder if that plays a role too? Fascinating stuff!
Yes, it is fascinating! I’m not sure of the research with the tilted uterus and OP, but it makes sense.
I was also told I had a retroverted uterus and am now wondering if that did play a role with the placenta placement
I also have an anterior placenta, I'm having a girl, and I'm a stomach sleeper. I felt bubbles every day since week 16, and you can se and feel movement all over my stomach. She is very aktive. I'm week 38+0 today ❤
I'm excited for your birth journey ahead!
Stomach sleeper! 29 weeks with a little girly. O positive. I’m athletic and can see her kick loads. Very alien like and so cool. First baby ❤ I felt her kicking from 15 weeks!! Then it just got stronger & stronger!
So exciting!! It is alien like and cool. Thanks for visiting the channel. I hope you stay through the next 11ish weeks. ❤️
@@birthtoolbox thank you & will and also to add I am a front sleeper! At least I was till bump 😊 x
The bump changes things!!
I hope you'll find other helpful videos on the channel and will stay awhile.
I had an anterior placenta and a sunny side up baby boy. I also am a stomach sleeper with O Positive blood. This was so interesting. Thank you! I did feel like I lacked some of the pregnancy experience not seeing and feeling the movement like others.
Thanks for watching and sharing your story! That part about the stomach sleeping makes sense, right?
Lol I went to bed right away after conceiving my baby and slept on my stomach. I always tend to sleep on my tummy but my blood type is A+
@@vassybaby16 And do you have an anterior placenta too?

I am 20 weeks. I am having a baby boy. Low lying anterior placenta. I’m still set on a home birth. I am a stomach sleeper, even as my belly grows, I need to lay on my tummy for comfort. But after conception I was careful to stay on my back with elevated hips but who knows. My blood is A- . Praying for a home birth!!!. Thanks!!
Sending you lost of positive thoughts for your home birth.
I am 18w 1d pregnant with a baby girl, my blood group is B- and I have a anterior placenta. This is my 3rd pregnancy. My last daughter was in back to back position and it wasn't a nice experience. 😕 wishing everyone healthy pregnancies and labour's! ❤
Welcome to the channel and congratulations on your 3rd pregnancy
I've had 2 pregnancies with anterior placentas. O positive blood, and sometimes a stomach sleeper! First was a boy, second a girl. Fascinating!
So cool, right!
Here because I have an anterior placenta and wanted to learn more about my birth options. I am currently 35 weeks pregnant with a baby girl. She was head down at 31 weeks but decided to be in a breech position now. I'm o positive and like to sleep on my stomach.
Hello! Here is a video with some information about breech babies and options on getting them to turn ruclips.net/video/SIpWcWwACII/видео.html

So excited for you! Thanks for watching and visiting the channel. I hope you find some other videos to enjoy.
You have boy or girl reply me
Hello When you feel your first baby kicking ?
I'm A blood type. My first baby boy had posterior placenta and the pain and nausea was horrible throughout pregnancy. I'm now 16 wks with another boy and have AP and I gotta say having it is so much better lol I feel a lot less movements and not as nauseous(not sure if it correlates), less pain, and no morning sickness either.
That is so interesting! I am not sure if it is related, but it kind of makes sense...right?
did your nose swelling in baby boy pregnancy?
That's a strange question. Have you heard people say that?
I’m O+ and a stomach sleeper 😊 thank you for the info. Very helpful
You fit the profile! I'm glad the video was helpful. Thanks for stopping by the channel, I hope you'll stay awhile.
Interesting! I’m A- but everyone in my family is O+, and I am indeed a stomach sleeper. My last pregnancy I had a posterior placenta and OP positioned baby. Back labor is no joke , but I did it unmedicated once, I can do it again.
You are so right about that. Back labor can be TOUGH.
@@birthtoolbox I just gave birth again - without an epidural, again! The back labor was rough. But being on all fours and a hot water bag got me through!
Hello, im in my 22 weeks and AB+ and has anterior placenta, and one doctor said i have a boy the other said its a girl, and i do feel baby's movement on sides of belly , it feels like like something is rolling inside my stomach, also I need an advice , can i travel by road for 4 hours??
Love how thorough this vid is. My first baby and I have anterior placenta. I’m 34 weeks and his kicks are strong but nothing like my skin poking out like how I’ve seen in vids. In a way, it’s kind of a positive b/c the anterior placenta is like a cushion lessening the pressure of the kicks!
Yes! Totally like a cushion which I know I appreciated that buffer with those middle of the night kicks.
Super interesting! My blood type is O positive, and I'm a stomach sleeper, AND I have an anterior placenta😆
Cool, right?
I will definitely check mine today feeling low movement 0positive
I hope all goes smoothly.
very accurate, pregnant with anterior placenta, O+, having back aches and love to sleep on my stomach before getting pregnant! also, i will be having a baby boy
Love it!!!
Had an anterior placenta for both my babies. My little girl was born normally (not sunny side up), so I guess we'll see how my little boy is born, which will be any day now. As for how I sleep, I've always slept on my left side or my back. 🤷♀️ I don't ever sleep on my stomach...
Wishing you all the best on your upcoming birth!! ❤Alice
I have a fundal anterior placenta? Is that any different when it comes to how it effects the pregnancy?
Nope!
wow I think it is true! I am 30 weeks with anterior placenta and I am a stomach sleeper!
Cool!
This is so interesting! I am 34 weeks pregnant and expecting a baby boy. I have an anterior placenta and O positive blood. Prior to conceiving, I was a stomach sleeper so I feel like this is spot on! I felt my baby kicking after 20 weeks which made incredibly inpatient and constantly worried as to why it was taking so long for me to feel any movements. Even now at 34 weeks, my baby is super active in the womb but I can only feel the kicks on the sides of my bump and nowhere else ☹. Luckily he is has been in the correct head down position facing my back since week 28 so I am very grateful for that 🙏
So glad baby is head down! It is frustrating to only feel the kicks on the side. I was the same with my first. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. I hope you find other videos on the channel that help you with your journey!

Been a few months since this comment, I'm in my 26th week. How is baby? I'm anterior too
Stomach sleeper here but noT O blood type. I have anterior placenta with this second pregnancy! I think it’s true as I was more of a side sleeper than stomach sleeper before my first pregnancy and I didn’t have anterior placenta then.
Crazy how the body works!
Anterior placenta, belly sleeper and O Positive ❤
Cool! Thanks for visiting the channel.
I was a stomach sleeper with the first but became nauseated to be on my belly before i knew i was pregnant and didn't have that🤔 curious. Maybe take a poll and do percentages
Great idea to do a poll!
I’m O+ and my firstborn son was sunny side up and it was painful. I’m now pregnant with #2 and it’s a girl. Hoping for the best
Wishing you all the best!!
LOL I’m a stomach sleeper and O positive with anterior placenta, although I cannot see her move, I can feel her move alot. Hoping for a good position when in labour.
Yes, hoping the best for you too!
I'm 18 weeks pregnant with a baby girl and also O positive blood type. I was told yesterday that I have an anterior placenta. Generally, sleep on my side.
Glad you are here!
Interesting! I am O negative, but had a boy and had an anterior placenta. I felt the movements very late, indeed. Even during an ultrasound in the third semester, the doctor was saying he is kicking now, and I could see the movement on the screen, but I didn't feel anything.
Sounds like your placenta was a shield!!
When was the first time you felt the kicks?
@@valerieshakeera6678was 5 years ago, but I think it was after 6 months, when I also saw the belly moving
O+ and stomach sleeper! How interesting
Right???
My placenta was as big as the baby. Felt like a twin was coming out, after. Baby was supposed to get a blood transfusion at birth, but didnt need it afterall I was 2 wks overdue and he was over 8 lbs. He was pretty squashed. Born purple / red. Do you know why the placenta would be so big? TIA
Wow, what an experience! I am sorry that I don’t have any idea about that.
Currently pregnant with Baby #4 and my 1st, 3rd and this baby had anterior placentas. Yes I sleep on my tummy too. Three girls so far. Not sure what current baby is. Both of my babies with anterior placentas did not engage in my pelvis correctly during birth and it was a longer pushing phase and pretty painful. My posterior placenta baby was painfree and quick. So I am a bit nervous about this birth 🫣
So interesting how common it is for some people! I have my fingers crossed for you and a smooth 4th birth.
I am A positive. Never slept on my stomach and still have an anterior placenta.
It happens!
Am A positive and I like sleeping on my stomach and right now I have Anterior placenta and I have this abnormal pain
I would ask your care provider about any pain that you are experiencing.
Im a stomach sleeper. A+ blood type . Anterior placenta and expecting a girl. I feel baby movements MOSTLY on the sides sometimes just around my belly buttom area and downward. So im not sure where exactly the placenta is .
It sounds like the placenta is on the front and top.
I am O negative I am having a girl I did sleep on my stomach all the time I am also a older mom but this is the 1st time this has been this way I am 18 weeks with very little movement compared to the last 5 kids I felt way more and way sooner I still can’t get use to the not feeling her move part I am hoping in the next few weeks things get better but so far if I didn’t know what movement felt like I would not know she is moving at all
That is so interesting that with 5 kids you haven't experienced this yet. Every pregnancy is differenc, right?
Maam what does over fundus and anterior placenta means .???
It means that the placenta is attached on the top front wall of the uterus. This position is not concerning.
I have an anterior placenta, never been a stomach sleeper and I’m B positive blood type
Very different!
Omg I'm 40 weeks and have an anterior placenta. I clicked on this video being like what...That's wrong with that??? I'm happy there is nothing really important
The title scared me a little
My apologies!!! And best of luck on your upcoming labor.
I am 32 weeks, having a girl and anterior placenta. I can relate to everything! I am a chronic stomach sleeper and also the kicks didn’t come till around 24 weeks! I was so worried and always going to the hospital
So glad that you got some more information with this video. Thanks for visiting!
I am A+ and a side sleeper and have an anterior placenta. I am having a baby girl. I am 23 weeks today and I did start feeling kicks now and the but I do feel sad as it is my first pregnancy and I feel like I have been robbed from such an amazing part of carrying a baby 😔 Is there a chance that with this placenta I will ever be able to see a little hand or feet through my stomach or I can simply forget about it as my placenta just robbed me from these precious moments?
It’s hard to say, but there are so many other moments to cherish ahead of you!!
This was interesting, am not so much of a stomach sleeper however, i am o+ first pregnancy had a side placenta and it was a boy. Second preg. Had the interior placenta and its a girl😊
Thanks for sharing your experience and watching! Have your pregnancies been similar in other ways or different?
Generally, everthing was harder with the 2nd pregnancy from morning sickness up to six months, excessive salivation to fatigue up to delivery but i made it through:) but made me believe that perhaps girls are harder than boys;)
Does Anterior placenta supports normal delivery?
Yes!
B+and have anterior placenta no stomach sleeper i already have a boy now i am 24 weeks pregnant again
Everyone is different!
I am 16 weeks pregnant with baby boy and found out in my 13 weeks ultrasound that it’s an anterior placenta so, bit confused like when can I feel kicks and is there any chance that the placenta will move from front to side?
No the placenta won’t move from the front. You will likely feel kicks in a few weeks!
Interesting! I have a singleton with an anterior placenta and now having twins each with anterior placenta and I sleep on my stomach or did when not pregnant
You are consistent!!
Yea it's kinda true when they say blood type o+ and tummy sleeper myt have an anterior placenta I'm both of those and I found out that I had it so yeah it is wat it is
✅kinda cool, right?
Yea it's amazing
Im having anterior placenta but its at the lower border just above the internal Os
So can you please tell me if its risky kind of pregnancy or what
It depends on the measurements and how far along you are.
Stomach sleeper with anterior placenta. Found out today I'm having a baby girl! Blood a+ though.
How exciting!! Girls are so fun.❤️
Nobody has told me yet but from using my Doppler, I’m pretty sure I have an anterior placenta…. And I am type O positive! so that’s crazy. Probably gonna find out tomorrow.
Keep us posted!
This is so interesting! O positive blood group here, I have anterior placenta. I sleep partly on my stomach but never on my back.
Crazy, right!
Does having anterior placenta makes it difficult to see organs in anomaly scan …. Cause I was asked to come later due to non visible stomach bubble .. is that so … Iam a little worried .. but I can feel the kicks slightly… Iam 21 weeks pregnant
I am not sure if the placenta makes the ultrasound more difficult, but it is common that they need to follow up on an ultrasound to get a better look at anatomy. Sometimes the baby can be in a position that makes it difficult.
My neice was told her uterus is upside-down. Do you have any videos about this we can reference please? I may have missed it. Thank you!

I have been told that I have an anterior placenta (I am now 27 weeks pregnant) but I was also told that it's totally normal? I was also told that I might feel my baby's movement a bit later and yeah, it took quite long, until like 22/23 weeks (also, it's my first pregnancy, so I wasn't really sure what to look out for anyway 😅).
As for the studies and tales, I am expecting a girl, my blood type is negative and I have always slept on the tummy 😄Not any more though and still getting used to laying on the side. Often my left leg (from the hip area down into the thigh) will hurt. Maybe it's the extra weight I put on, I am not sure.
