Shot clock is a non starter for me. Because what will the team who loses the ball do? They’ll drop 15 lads back and defend for the duration of the shot clock.
Gaa want revert bacck to old way as i n streach gaa out to september 20 or 30 people got no money to go to all games as 2 close for familys
There are multiple problems with a shot clock. Logistically it’s hard to implement because who controls it? And it needs to be visible for the players to know how long is left - how do you do that considering the size of the pitch?
The other problem is tactical. A shot clock encourages defensive play as much as attacking play. Because if a team knows they will get the ball back if they keep the team out for a period of time, they are incentivised to get everyone back and defend for that period of time.
Also worth considering that an attack from a Dublin side against a side like Longford would be much more dangerous than vicer versa. A shot clock could result in wider score margins than we've ever seen. So many unknowns here but could nevertheless be worth trialing in some club or third level competitions
i hate the group stage
