One cold winter evening I had to call the emergency electric company line. Two men in a big electric truck came and fixed the electrical problem. I offered them hot cocoa out on the porch. They noticed my wood was only about half stacked and the rest was still in a pile on the ground. (I’d been working on stacking it as I got the time.) Those nice men stacked the rest on the porch. There are still so many kind people in this world!
That’s awesome. Yes, there sure are a lot of good folks out there. We have to try to look for the good , be the good and be grateful every time good wins over evil. Sometimes I get discouraged by all the evil in the world and the bad that people do one to another but I am always comforted by knowing there are many good people. I have been blessed with good people in my life and try to be a blessing to as many folks as I can. Thanks for sharing a story of a kindness.
You are kind because you share your knowledge. Thank you for that!
Thank you!

I'm going to make that same structure from your video thanks 👍💯
I love the idea of using left over siding as a roof. Great idea! Thank you for improving life for all of us by sharing.
Thanks! Yeah, I just had some siding on hand and it worked perfect. I may get one more piece at some point to make it wider for more over hang.

Great looking firewood rack
Thanks!
Seen this before but your version looks the nicest. Will try and use it myself. Thanks
This is such a clever idea. love how you made this beautiful structure from materials that were hanging around the house.
Thank you, my love. Glad we had everything we needed.
Cool idea thanks for sharing
Thanks for sharing. I like this design better than most.
You’re welcome. Yeah, I like this design. Mine is empty right now and I am going to move it and re fill it.
I really like your firewood rack holder 👍great job my friend caught my attention!!
Thank you, Anthony! It was the fastest and easiest way to hold stacked wood I ever tried. I am very happy with it. I love my round wood stacks but I think I will probably make another one or two of these racks next year. I like to keep a lot of wood on hand because I like it well seasoned so I have lots of stacks around the property. I like the way these look too.
Thanks Dave I'm going to try it.
That's great! I think you will like it. Super easy and it gets the job done.
Very innovative idea with the siding.
Thanks! I was glad I thought to try it. Three pieces wide would be perfect , I only had two so I went with that and it is fine.
Love it, this will work well in my basement because in April the water comes in.
Thanks, Jacqueline! Yes, It should be good to keep the wood up for you. It holds quite a bit too.
Good job!
Awesome looks great
Thanks!
excellent idea.
Thanks, Randy!
I’ve got such an elaborate wood rack that I probably should of pulled a permit but I think I’m going to try yours for the three cords that I need to stack now. Thanks for the info!
Ha, yeah you need a permit for about anything these days. This rack is working out great but I think I need a couple more myself. I may try a double wide. You’re welcome. Thanks for you’re comment.
I made it about a month ago and it was impressive! Neighbor said wow!
@@miked8227 That's great! I have to move mine. I'm glad it's easy to set back up!
That's Awesome I got some content on firewood as well but you done a really nice job 👍 my friend 👏!!!
Thanks, Anthony!
The round one looks luke the perfect castle home for MICE 🤣🤣🤣
Yes , the mice do go in them. The snakes go in too. I found a couple snake skins when I took one apart.
@@CharestStudios oh boy... i bet the snakes really enjoyed the mice. You have yourself a nice little ecosystem there... Kudos !! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🔥💞💫
Very nice
Thanks
Thank you.
You're welcome.
Nice job
Thank you!
When I stack in the Holtzhausen style I first make a round stone platform for it.
Good idea. I often loose some of the bottom pieces due to contact with the ground.
We like stacking wood bark side up
Yes, that is a good idea. I do that at least on the top of my round piles. It didn't matter much on the rack because of the cover. I do wish the top cover was wider though. I will be emptying that rack soon now that the cold has set in. Nothing heats like wood, it's is a very comfortable heat.
I like it. one question is how stable is it? it looks to be top heavy and easy to fall over sideways. Does it feel stable to you?
Thanks. Yeah, I'm happy with it. It is a bit top heavy and I did not really get it perfectly level front to back, however it is pretty stable. I think it just has so much weight down low that it is o.k.. I would say just try to level it front to back as best you can and it should be fine under most circumstances.
Its very clever. i just wonder how long this would last. Any experience out there?
Thanks! It is still up now about two years. I made it with salvaged wood that was not the best but if made with new lumber and painted or pressure treated it would probably be great for a very long time.
The round piles, is it a magnet for critters to build nest/homes inside? It looks like it very well could be.
Critters get into all the wood piles. My cat likes to hunt near them as the critters come in and out and I have seen snakes in them as well as finding snake skins. The snakes come and eat the mice.
The only thing supporting the plastic siding is its contact with the firewood...as you use firewood the siding goes unsupported and a big wind might rip it apart.....at least that is what would happen in Kansas...Ha..
Yes, since then as It is not full right now I have some pieces of metal roofing covering it . I can adjust them more to cover whatever is left there as I use it.
nice !@@CharestStudios
How far away do you have your firewood rack from your house? I really like this firewood rack. It's easy and stylish. Good job
I have it about 30 feet away from the house. Not too far because this rack usually hold what I will burn next. Thanks!
I don't know what quality those blocks are (whether they are water and cold proof) or where do you live (if you have a lot of rains and snow) but this construction as I assume is not only simple but also weak in some aspects. Here is on 3:25 those wooden beams, which are stuck into the cinder (cement) block, unevenly transfer the load to the walls of the block. They do not press on the entire surface inside the block, but only on its edge. Also, if during the winter there are rains, frosts and quite a lot of such cycles, and the block itself is almost in ice all the time, because it is sitting on the ground, then the probability is that this block, and later the entire structure of the firewood holder, may collapse.
I work with concrete block all the time. Wouldn't they crack, the force of the sides, the weight pushing down on them ? Anybody has experienced this ?
I have filled this rack three times so far with no problem. The blocks I am using are very old and they may have made them better years ago. Not sure but no problem so far.
Thank you for returning to me. It may be that the wood stock is like Lego, and most of the pressure is on the base and not on the side ends.... For example above ground pool where the walls "pushes" outward
I will definitely try this method.
Yeah, it cold be like you say it is the way the weight is distributed. I have had it up long enough to be very confident. If I do it again though I might make it double wide to hold twice as much.@@mariusneumayer4419
I've been using the original design with no screws for about 4 years. I've never had any problems whatsoever. I also fill my racks high but I use 12 ft boards on the bottom. The only problem I've experienced is my wood pile falling over by heavy winds if I don't stack the wood good.
Every piece on the ground of the round pile will rot in a year.... I keep all of my wood off the ground, logs and all.
Should have shown how it was made.
I tried to explain how exactly I made it. If you have any questions let me know.
@@CharestStudios Show one being built.
That's a face cord at most not a half cord. Face Cord = 1/3 0f a cord.
Thanks. I was not sure how much it was because of how it gets wider at the top and was rounded. I think I would like to try this in a double wide sometime.
