    Thank you for a very informative and well presented video. Until seeing it, I had no idea that storage on the Lenovo 110S could be upgraded, nor was I aware there was such a thing as M.2 ssd. I bought a Kingston A400 120 GB ssd for 25 quid, followed the procedures you demonstrated, and voila, everything worked perfectly! As you say, the Lenovo is a great little laptop for travelling. I used to store my photos and files on a16 GB micro card but that’s not an ideal solution. Thanks again for explaining everything so clearly, and I wish your channel every success!

    Thanks for this comprehensive and totally accurate tutorial. I was about to ditch a 110S-11KBR due to lack of storage. It was a bargain buy years ago with a brand I trust and advertised as upgradeable to Windows 10. Of course with only a 32GB SSD, that became an ongoing problem. Before finding your video, I did not even know there was an expansion slot (and I downloaded to hardware manual). New life to what would have been clearly obsolete.

    Thank you very much. A friend gave me his 110 because he bought a newer laptop that was expandable. After removing all his files I looked in RUclips and found this video. Amazon sent the new HD in two days and I installed it this afternoon. It took Windows longer to install itself than it took to make the upgrade. Thanks again.

    Great, worked a treat. That's the hardware done .........Now the software...I got an hour old copy of windows but windows update still had a lot to run, which took a good while and a reboot or two, and need lenovo vantage and lenovo service bridge have to be downloaded and run to get the trackpad to work for sliding up and down..Then it will load all the windows bloatware ..... so make sure you can keep your eye on it for a while to get things up to date ...then when you get time disable the USB boot option from the BIOS so that you don't get some other USB corrupting anything .....

    Thanks for this, have upgraded ours and got a Kingston 240gb new off Amazon for £21.99 and installed no problem. Windows install took 2 goes because I forgot to wipe the old emmc first time and you can't wipe it once you're in Windows, even if you boot off the new SSD because it still sees the old unit as a protected boot drive. (At 10.10 before installing, select the old unit and delete the partitions then create a single (empty) partition.) As others have said, without this the computer would have been junk. Cheers

    Hello, nice video (I have been watching and saving a bunch to refer back to so I don't miss anything) but by far yours is the most complete. I have one question. Instead of making a windows boot USB can you clone the 32GB drive to the new one that is installed? This would save all the data including the MS Office that I have installed. Then format the 32GB drive to have the additional storage. Is this possible? I have 2 of these to do that are for my kids and what they use for school. Thank you if you can clarify.

    @xenwalker91 3 года назад

    Thank you. Super helpful. I have an Ideapad 110s I got open box from Best Buy in 2017 that stopped working, but this is making it work again. Do you have a video that explains how to reformat the original 32 GB of storage space as you explain in the end of your video? For example, do I have to go back into the bios, and take the exclamation point off of that drive in order to reformat it? Where can I find the system manager on the 110s? The laptop works now, so I don't want to mess with the wrong drive.

    • @TechMadeEasyUK
      @TechMadeEasyUK  3 года назад

      To re-use the original 32GB of storage first re-enable it in the BIOS (But do not set it as a bootable device). Next within Windows click on the Start menu and then type "computer management" - in the window that opens click on "Storage Management" and you should see the 32GB drive in the lower panel. Once you are content that there is no data on the 32GB drive that needs recovering you can right click on the drive in this Window and format the drive so that it is usable space.

      Google Windows Media Creation tool to download the tool for making a bootable USB.
      If you type "computer management" into the Windows search bar it will bring up a tool which will let you see your new SSD to confirm its working.
      It should also show up as an available drive when you attempt to reinstall Windows from USB
