Tip for lock on: you don’t have to click the little circle. It targets the closest circle to where you tap. This is handy when you’re trying to cut tails as you can dodge to the side of the monster until the tail circle is visible and then just tap the far end of your screen. It helps to zoom out when fighting as well.
I have the same problem with lock on too. I hope they just let us tap the lock on button and have the lock on cross-hair move like how pressing R1 and/or L1 buttons functions in the console... That's why I run a focus skill instead or concentration allowing me to fill spirit charge quicker- and more often I can access charge attack- a state where you won't receive damage when performing the special attack animation
Health boost has the issue that your 30% health cap to fight monsters gets increased which means you have to wait longer for your health to regen if you want to save potions

My second set is an all attack set, using affinity right now for weapons with no strong guard or lack burst compatibility, like longsword or hammer, etc respectively. I have never used the lock-on skill at all. I do have the kooloo headpiece in the racing gear that have it but when I tried it I thought those slots could be better utilized with other skills instead. I have noticed that I if I position my avatar in the right place I can hit the target 75 to 90% of the time anyway. Therefore I have found that other skills such as part breaker invade extender or artful dodger out I don't even know can be much more useful for me with those three weapons. Anyway my question is this what skills are best for using the gun lands I currently have the two bosarillos armor pieces I think chess and greaves that give me artillery for my gun lance to bring it up to four, as well as burst part breaker of eight extender or something I don't know how can I show you what I have where you can explain to me wear an upgrade might be better I know I use the zinoger helm, The Diablo waste and the diablo's wrists, then like I said the two artillery armor pieces... I hate when people tell me I need to "get rid of my zinoger helm , because everyone else uses kulu helm", argh! This is so frustrating it's like learn to think for yourself people before you copy everyone else and pretty much do it wrong anyway! Right? @JasonDuBrule if you're using long gunlance, you can add focus skills to increase the charging speed of your charged shelling attack. You can equip the azure rathalos helm and the rathalos waist for focus. Then the new teostra vambraces also have artillery which will be a must have for gunlance. Hope this helps!
So basically focus is the biggest/only dps improvement skill? I haven't seen the new teostea monster yet even though I have the quest to kill them... Does burst help? Since shelling does a couple dozen minor hits in a row of artillery damage basically? What about partbreaker? Or the weakness exploit? Does tremor resistance, firm foothold or offensive guard type skills make a difference specifically would the long shot gun lance? Or would you consider them more of a universal skill?
@JasonDuBrule shelling is not affected by crit skills like weakness exploit. Burst wont be activating consistently with the gunlance unless you use the wyrmstake. For the long gunlance you wont be activating burst if you use charge shelling.

Yea, been running the kulu headgear since the beginning, then paolumu gloves and waist and next is legiana body. It's such a great allrounder set that's great on at least every melee weapon due to the nature of how potions work and how limited they are in this game.
Hi, i m wearing Kulu head Grade 3 already, i have Lock On ability listed but during battle, my icon only shows ReTarget instead of Lock On… so i m seeking help if anyone has this issue, thanks.
@@enbiya99 you can only KO monster using blunt attacks to the monsters head. So you can only KO monsters using hammer and sword and shield. When the monster gets KOed the get knocked down to the ground and you can attack them for free.
Tap lock on Tap the part of the monster you wanna break if you wanna charge your attacks For me I run a charge hammer build, so my charge is quite fast

thank you so much i didn't know you could zoom out during a hunt, i thought it was only map zoom.
Hope we get the ability to craft jewel slots or talismans soon to customize builds further

Great strategy! The problem with tapping the lock on button is you can't target the part you want. Unless you can set it to default to head or tail

Nope, the minimum amount of health you need to start a hunt will increase from 30 but the recovery time will remain the same as before

Lock on is only good with SnS, Long Sword, and maybe hammer. For any of the ranged weapons and GS it doesn't matter.

SOMEONE HELP! I'm already at Cbapter 2 and have a grade 2 armor and its not giving me Lock On to continue the main quest and unlock more weapons :'(
You need to upgrade the kulu helm until you unlock the skill

Sadly there's no lock on for ranged weapons. You can re center the target with the lbg tho

Try equipping another helm first then equipping the kulu helm again

Yeah you can check what level all your skills are on the equipment screen (click "view all" on the box to the left of your hunter)
