- Hi guys, so here's another video on my #HowToBeAThirdMateSeries
My latest video is about installing our MOB Smoke & Light Signal. Our MOB Smoke & Light Signal may vary from your but the installation process will somewhat be similar.
So here are a few tips and guidelines when installing the apparatus.
✅ Always read, study and understand the instructions manual before starting the job.
✅ Understand how the Smoke & Light Signal is triggered so you can identify the areas to protecr and avoid.
✅ Make sure to seek professional judgement by your superiors when in doubt.
✅ Mount the Smoke & Light Signal where vibrations from ships is least.
✅ Make sure to double check SOLAS regulations regarding MOB Ring and Smoke & Light Signal conforms with the regulation (which is unlikely, but just in case)

Very good video just keep in mind that the line attaching the light and smoke signal to the lifebuoy must be 4m exactly in length and 9.5mm in diameter (as per manual).

Napaka useful saming mga domestic nag cadetship dahil though meron nman kaming equipments pero alam mo un sa mismong life ring na namin sinasalpak to lessen the hazard tulad ng ginawa nyong installation. . 😁💪 Thumbs up. I have some question regarding this device. How to do monthly check with this equipment? Can we check the self-igniting light when it was installed? I’m afraid it would be hit the trigger when we try to check it…

What is the name of the Permit you use for such? Is that considered Working at Heights in the hull of the vessel?
yes sir. if you do have working outboard permit, then your shoud use that. but in my case, ourboard and aloft is one document, so I used that.

Hello Ma'am. After installation, i observed the direction of the fall of the bouy is towards the aft of the vessel instead of towards the side together with the lifering to fall away from the vessel. For a scrutinuous PSC Inspector, that would be a deficiency. I cannot post a photo here to illustrate the correct positioning but allow me to use your video to make a reaction video about this showing the correct position of installation.

This is a serious deficiency even for a normal PSC inspector and I have seen a safety bulletin for exactly what you are describing. Very good observation.

Lights minimum of 2hrs and cannot be charge or to be tested, orange smoke signal emitted at 15 minutes minimum

Smoke will be emitted for 15 minutes only
Yes, of course the smoke would be emitted for 15 minutes but the light would stay on for 2 hours at 2 cd as per SOLAS. That's what she says.
