That’s my second time listening to that video. Definitely itsy one of the best CoD videos I’ve ever seen. I teared up both times. He’s right, and that really sucks.
Yea you kinda trippin, I’d say til after 2012. After 2012 was when cods peak was over, 2009??? The peak was just starting. And then statistically speaking it’s neither mw2 or bo2 it’s actually bo1 in 2010 that statistically is “the best cod”
WaW was my first cod. I love it to death to this day, ive been playing zombies since waw. My cousin was the one who got it on release and we played it all the time
I might not have experienced playing the old COD games (other than watching my older brother play MW2), and only actually started playing COD with MW2019 (I loved the stories and lore from the old ones, and have watched gameplays to timeline explanations, because I do enjoy them). I don't have that nostalgia of the older games, but honestly? The last time I was crying-laughing was with the Purgatory map in WZ The Haunting. The "comms center" where you can just chill and chat. I was exploring it and I never usually have my mic on, but someone just came in and said hi. After fooling around (deciding to fight each other fists only), we were like 20 to 30 people in that little bubble doing the most random and hysterical things - from racing down the street to see who died first, to knife competitions, laughing at the MANY bugs throughout the match, to straight up trolling. It was the most entertaining thing to date that I've done on COD online. And yeah, I don't like the over the top skins, I don't buy them, but damn was it hilarious to see Snoop Dog knuckle fighting a Duck characterisation. Like I said, I dont have the nostalgia of the old games. Do I wish it was more geared towards storytelling like it used to be? Yeah. But I'll be nostalgic about that one game where 20 people huddled around in a circle as the timer was ticking to 0 and we were about to get nuked, and you heard nothing but insults, music, and incoherent blabbering. And hey, I got to meet new friends that I'll be playing matches with in the future. I guess its just perspective.
I'm a big defender of WW2. It was a good game, the biggest flaw was the maps, most of which were just terrible. Like Ghosts the DLC maps fixed what they couldn't get right with the base maps, but you can't play DLC lobbies very often on any Cod before MW19 anymore. A lot of people hated the divisions, which I admit it wasn't the best class arrangements but you got used to it, and wasn't the worst thing tbh. Even now post overhaul, WW2 is a top 10 Cod, easily.
We tried to bring it back with mw19 though. Those first few months had the feel perfectly. But then wz dropped and it went down hill. Now cod is just a storefront for skins .
MAAAN I this is going to make me cry the old cods. The simple UI menu. No update every day with bugs. No one million attachments weapon buff- nerfed every day. Stupid prestige system Double XP does nothing. SBMM- impossible streaks that does nothing. Player retention stayed in the 3- 6 million Xbox 360 alone for over 3 years. Even the bad selling Wii u have over one million players. Zombies!!! Even the freaking lobbies was fun shit talking. Playing with friend's hey bro won't let me join hold on try now good old days.
i feel like bo4 started the engagement based matchmaking too, or at least a strict SBMM on the same level of MW 2019. remember having every single game be sweaty
Sooooooo Hijacked, standoff, NT2025, yemen, slums, studio ,carrier, RAID 1 of the best maps to the cod community idgaf about it but still How TF are those L maps Rush, plaza, meltdown, mirag i can go on forever Sorry that was a L take aswell I hope you were talking about the ones previewed and even those only 2 were trash
The reason past cods are brought up every year is because they did maps right. Hell, even UI, perks, and weapon customization were done better. We just want a good cod. Its not too much to ask for
That video was a masterclass in demonstrating, through "Call of Duty"'s supposed "fall from grace", how the concept/approach of nudging can and will work upon the human psyche.
YOOOOOOO MY FIRST TIME PLAYING COD4 WAS ALSO AT MY FRIENDS HOUSE SPLIT SCREEN!!! AND IT WAS FUCKING AWESOME!!!!! even though his TV was smaller than my laptop screen lol
There’s a channel called “Face Full of Eyes” he makes amazing video essays on First Person Games I think you’ll like what he has to say about some games you’ll probably recognize!
Yo I had almost same shit as this kid I had the Nissan Altima and was at both midnight releases for Black Ops 1&2 and I was apart of ACTUALLY UNLOCKING ZOMBIES MODE IN COD WAW until they updated it to where u didn't have to beat the CAMPAIGN to hav ZOMBIES MODE I THINK THAT WAS A BIG MISTAKE I think actually earning the ZOMBIES MODE was way more REWARDING SO HAPPY I WAS NOT APART OF THE UPDATED COD WAW WHERE ZOMBIES MODE WAS JUST THERE it was so better being a secret unlock after beating game n at end of credits ZOMBIES JUST RUSHED UR TV SCREEN AWESOME CHILDHOOD EXPERIENCE AND MEMORY
Cod 4 mw was the first cod I ever played. I instantly became a fan. I wasn’t even good at it but it was still so much fun. MW2 came along and I was hooked!! The black ops games came and they were cool 1 & 2. I didn’t like them like modern warfare but I played them just as much. Good games. Mw3 came out & I liked it but it was nothing new introduced. They started to lose me when Ghosts dropped. And I was all out with every cod after. The jet packs made me retire. I never played another cod until MW 2019 & they won me back. Still play it today. Cold War didn’t do it for me & MW2 &3 is god awful so I guess they lost me again cuz I have no interest in checking out black ops 6. It was a good run. After watching this he’s right. Cod isn’t dead. It’s just changed. Either we can force ourselves to play these games & adjust even if we don’t like them or just stop buying & move on.
If Blackout was free to play I think it would’ve been a huge success. The loot system made it fair across the board and the meta weapon could be obtained by all players. Warzone introduced the gulag which, if implemented into blackout, would’ve made it even better. As a player in the niche solo BR player and hardcore MP player I understand the decision Activision made moving forward. I always wondered what if blackout was released during lockdown..
The big thing in this timeline of cod is cod went sideways when they stopped making games fun and initiated tactics to solely generate more revenue on top of requiring paying a premium for the game initially. Loot boxes were the start. SBMM and EOMM were nails in the coffin. The last enjoyable cod in my opinion from a fun laid back perspective was BO4. Julian missed a huge piece of history too, he missed the innovation of cross platform gaming.
The original mw3 is still the best call of duty out, and was the best selling call of duty for a record time. Perfect maps, perfect balance, second best campaign, only beaten by cod 4. No other cod can beat the original mw3.
@@crazedgaming740 mw2 was awful compared to cod 4 and mw3. Cod zombies are awful, always has, always will. Bo2 was the beginning of cod’s downfall. Comeback when you got a valid argument.
Sbmm is the worst factor of cod nowadays. We still get great games with Cold War, bo6, and mw3 was good. We have good maps, with high ttk, good custom classes and a crazy amount of post launch content. Remove Sbmm and the games go from 7/10s to 9/10s
Damn such a great video man, love this. For me at the end of the day I just need to have a tomahawk and a knife and I’m fucking people up and that shit fun as fuck. Are they coming out with another black ops after bo6?

feel bad for the kids who were raised on the cods after 2009, they missed all the good cods.
I'd say after 2012 cause MW3 and BO2 were still solid.
bro cod was fine until bo2 for sure lol
