The Astro Gamer - That’s literally the same thing lol. What’s your idea of a “desktop to a laptop” and how it it different than just a normal laptop that has a dock or something?
Pricing is very important. If that costs more than $300, you can forget it. It's an empty shell waiting for a second device. Keep that in mind. Great video and excellent points as usual, Austin! Will grab one if it's available and review it for my channel so subscribe!
400€ is the price you'd pay for a sturdy thin-and-light laptop with a low-power pentium and good battery life. If this thing offers a better experience, it might be worth it.
Cool concept, but I have a few issues. The screen is only 1080p, and not 120 Hertz. And there is no windows, android is a great operating system... but only on phones...
thts exactly what he means, its not windows it wouuld be cool if they manage to add another cpu/ gpu or add a cpu equivalent to a i7 8550u to phones in the future mabye 2020 then 3200x1800 144hz no problemo
This is innovation. If Android actually had any practical productivity software, I would be switching over... If this device ran Windows 10, I would do it in a heartbeat. Thanks for a great video, Austin! I can't begin to describe how brilliant this concept is. What the Nintendo Switch did for gaming, the Razer Linda can do with computing, but it needs to be executed perfectly. Something has to be done about the OS, though. Either Windows 10 needs to become a better mobile phone operating system, or Android needs to become a better desktop operating system, but I can assure you that if one of the two happens, this product will change computers forever. I've seen some pretty stupid phone/desktop hybrid concepts, but this hits the nail in the head. This would absolutely destroy the need to carry around battery banks and flimsy, Bluetooth keyboards. Razer, if you're reading this, it would be a smart move on your part to also support Windows 10 the best you can, because you would be entering the productivity market more than you would with Android - and where there's productivity, there's money. Let me make this perfectly clear: Support Windows 10, and you will see this product sell amazingly well. Thumb this comment up so Austin can see this comment and pin it so Razer has a better chance of seeing it. MOBILE APP AND WEB DEVELOPERS WANT THIS PRODUCT.
Conner Harkness how can they support windows 10 when Microsoft themselves are kinda ignoring the development for windows continuum. There is the HP elite x3 which is almost as powerful as razer phone, but cuz Microsoft didn't invest a lot into the development of features for windows continuum, there aren't any good productivity apps.
Skeleton, the product is innovative because it solves quite a few problems. The idea of turning a phone into a desktop/laptop PC has been thought of before, but none of them did it in a way that could make the most use out of the phone's hardware, while solving the issue of having to carry around multiple devices and peripherals. I by no means am suggesting that this is a product everyone will want to buy, but if my phone and "light work" laptop were one and the same, this would save so much space, time, and headache. I often find myself wanting to use both at the same time, but if they were the same device (albeit able to fit in my pocket or plugged into a screen and keyboard, with extra battery, mind you) I would be so happy!
I mean, you can get word processing and desktop browser on Android. I myself have relied on that. This is another reason why I miss Android (switched to ios because it's what I could upgrade to not long ago).
Project Linda is a pretty good idea, they potentially could place a discrete GPU inside to run every android game flawlessly and since it is android you could get windows XP or maybe windows 7 on your phone to make a portable gaming beast. And maybe since the laptop will most likely be $300-400 they could put more money into the screen and webcam/mic to make them as good as possible .
It's really not though. Who would buy this? Anyone who needs a laptop for productivity is going to want a PC or Mac, not Android. Anyone who wants to game on a laptop it is going to want Windows and more powerful hardware. And you could just buy an entire Chromebook for the price of this anyway lol.
This looks like a really good idea for students and people on the go The laptop portion is bare bones so it can be thin and light whil still having a large battery. This will make gaming on your phone or taking notes in class a lot easier
i worked on all of this myself with my project symetium i even told min liang tan about it on facebook which he read now all of it is becoming a reality i have to say thats a creepy coincidence, i told him about a phone beocming a pc years ago, i even showed him my razer phone concept back in 2014, he actually retweeted my razer phone concept years ago.
no need to joke about it, i am serious considering we both specifically spoke to eachother years ago about this, i am pretty sure i inspired some of his work.
What actually happened to that concept? I found it to be pretty interesting when I saw the videos some time back. Ive seen your UI demonstrations but what about actual hardware?
Well, project Valerie is more of a Gamers dream but i don't think anybody else would really care about it. 3 screens on a laptop is a cool idea for a gaming laptop, but i think LINDA is better for smartphone gamers and casual users alike, the feature extends to more than just gaming, a it does makes watching videos, typing and even browsing a lot better. But yeah, Valerie is a different level, but is restricted to a certain niche market. I make tech related contents. If you could spare some time kindly do try my channel out.
Ok so, this is the coolest concept I have seen in a long time, and even with the laptops screen not being a touch screen, adding other features would make this a great deal. Depending on the price tag of course.
Ya see this is a cool concept, but, if you have to buy both the razer phone and the laptop, then this is not a great idea due to the heavy price tag of the Phone and due to the fact that it is razer, the laptop will likely cost a lot. Another thing is that there will be no click to the mousepad to it being a phone. So, if there are a few hardware tweaks and marketing thoughts, this will be a good idea.
TheTechPerson: Or they could do something similar to the newer Macbooks which have a non-moving trackpad, I think that if it could be done it'd be fair enough.
Too many questions: using the phone as a trackpad, will our hands cover the right side speaker? How big is the internal battery, and can it charge the phone? How many kidneys do we need to sell to purchase this?
It would be cooler if it had other speakers built into it, to compliment the ones on the phone. You know there's room since there's no CPU GPU or Ram, fans etc.
Matthew Ledford Only people that are retarded get their shit stolen. Truth hurts. Dont be dumb as shit and leave your shit vulnerable. Otherwise you deserve to lose your shit to someone else that would take better care of it, or would sell it. I am not encouraging anyone to steal but people steal thats life. Dont be dumb.
Can’t wait for the ultimate razor phone video where he uses this laptop configuration, the razor made triple screen upgrade, and a pluggable gtx 1080 through the usb type-c port.
That'll never happen since it's not a shield device. The only android devices that can access geforce now is shield devices and I'm not betting on nvidia making it available for any android phone anytime soon since that exclusivity is part of what makes the shield brand.
I hope this will be on sale soon cause this is awesome to have a laptop that is powered by a phone which serves as a track pad this technology is amazing and I'm looking forward to project Linda
This is the first attempt for a Smartphone/Laptop convertible that doesn't suck. I see a lot of potential and great ideas coming up from those projects that smartphones power desktop (Samsung Dex), Laptop (Razer Linda) or Tablet terminals. Especially with external hardware to support this task.
Definitely add an HDMI port. Touchscreen and 1440p res for a 'higher end' dock, but keep non-touch and 1080p for default dock to keep price lower. This is something I can definitely get on board with, so in case I am out and about and get called for work, no need to lug around my work laptop to get stuff done on the fly.
SAME. With how good productivity and professional software has become on Android, this would easily, EASILY be my main computer and everything. Not a single HP Elite dock, NexDock or anything has even come close to the beauty of the implementation Razer did here.
Definitely interesting how they probably thought ahead of the time with the phone's design to work into the laptop. I like to think that if there is a matte screen sticker the trackpad experience would've greatly improved.
I think this has a really big place in the business world. Especially if they also have a dock that hooks up to a monitor and keyboard at the desk. All your stuff around one device.
fantastic idea!! Microsoft needs to make a surface phone and then a notebook that can integrate it like that as touch pad and you can have full windows 10 x86 x64 with win32 apps notebook! just add batteries to the notebook and a lkt IO no other cpu or gpu hardware and that will make it super thin and light!
Having the phone act as the trackpad is a really good idea! I think that one huge improvement would be having some version of 3D Touch on the Razer phone would make clicking on the trackpad a lot better. And while we're adding Apple hardware to the device, why not just add the A11 chip as well.
@Austin Evans This is a really cool idea, and hopefully they'll keep up this form factor with laptops in the future. I think it makes sense as the next evolution in laptop form factors since most people are using smartphones these days, so carrying out like this dock with a bigger monitor, keyboard, more ports, and more powerful CPU, GPU, and RAM is something I think most people might use instead of a traditional laptop. This style gives you a laptop and a smartphone. Hopefully more companies make this form factor. Maybe Apple will offer it next time and have it compatible with both the normal and "Plus" size? Or maybe from now on Apple will just have an iPhone X and releasing newer models of it and just have a parenthesis and a year number to differentiate the updated hardware?
I do hope that Nex Computers or U PERFECT can turn this concept into a universal production reality. Okay, satisfying different types of phone won't be easy, but at least they can take the motorized USB-C port as an inspiration.
This is where the whole single high speed port becomes interesting. thunderbolt 3 or usb 4.0 hitting speeds of 40 gigs it definitely opens the doors for some pretty cool technology. we see it now here and also razers core X and other EGPU's. would be sick to have a phone powerful enough to be the powerhouse to act as your phone laptop and pc. it could give such an incredible seamless experience.
This is pretty awesome, I think ultimately we will just have one device and dock it everywhere, home, work, car. This looks like a start, as the DeX from Samsung.
I think this is a really cool concept that could add a great selling point to the razer phone itself. I think with a little more upgrading, like the screen resolution, refresh rate, and maybe even improvements to the track pad, this could be a solid product if the price is reasonable
that's pretty cool how the usb type C connector is motorized. Linus didn't show that in his video, it almost looked as if it were completely wireless. I had just assumed that it worked through NFC, bluetooth(or maybe WiFi), and wireless charging.
When your *TouchPad* is the most expensive part of Your _Laptop_
When you're touchpad is your laptop.
When you buy a new computer but forget to buy the phone that acts as it's touchpad
So so true.
Master Builder when you buy a computer that actually doesn't even work without the touchpad XD
*T o u c h P a d*
The only problem is, if you lose your phone.
you lose ur laptop
At that point itll be a shell of its former self
Get it?
Bmo Failure omg I just realized then it would just be a shell of the laptop
so true
There is a problem number 2 is if you lose the laptop.
You lose ur phone
Cool concept.
Ikr? BTW how can I ride a pig in minecraft?
Hey! Your profile pic! Its Kazuma from Noragami!

Now I want to see a desktop that can transform into a laptop.
Plug a laptop into a monitor…
A desktop into a laptop not the other way around.
That's just a laptop
The Astro Gamer - That’s literally the same thing lol. What’s your idea of a “desktop to a laptop” and how it it different than just a normal laptop that has a dock or something?
*skyartlerist* *D* Yeah um...
Razer blade pro + external monitor in this case. The "desktop in a laptop." Right?
Yet another Razer “concept” that looks awesome but will never happen...
razer toaster
razer bath and razer house
I wanted this too....

Pricing is very important. If that costs more than $300, you can forget it. It's an empty shell waiting for a second device. Keep that in mind. Great video and excellent points as usual, Austin! Will grab one if it's available and review it for my channel so subscribe!
200-250 usd would be reasonable.

The price should be 200$ to 250$ but if it's more... Just buy a S8 and a other laptop
Aarnooozz 400 euros is expensive!! You can probably build a budget PC or a laptop. $300 should be max on just a shell like that.
I think this is the one time I will ever say windows on a phone is a good idea.
with snapdragon 835 supporting windows. imagine a system that just switches to windows when you plug a phone in
Bro this is like strapping a toy car to a tank shell
This is the switch of laptops 😂
The dock isn't portable but K
stan probs a copy
stan Hey, you're right!!
zarif depends on what you think is portable
Cool concept, but I have a few issues. The screen is only 1080p, and not 120 Hertz. And there is no windows, android is a great operating system... but only on phones...
joe nodden He literally said the same thing in the video lmao.
we're pretty well aware the screen being 1080p and not 120 hertz is acceptable.
why would you want more than 1080p from a phone anyways
TheKHfan358over3d Exactly its not like you are gonna be playing a triple A shooter where hertz actually matters.
thts exactly what he means, its not windows it wouuld be cool if they manage to add another cpu/ gpu or add a cpu equivalent to a i7 8550u to phones in the future mabye 2020
then 3200x1800 144hz no problemo
LegendaryVegeta Could Just add a extern harddrive with Windows on it, and let it boot first and then the phone if possible
This is innovation. If Android actually had any practical productivity software, I would be switching over... If this device ran Windows 10, I would do it in a heartbeat. Thanks for a great video, Austin!

I need this in 2020 ! I watch this video many time just to satisfy my self
I really like the jacket, lol, where can I get it?
Sam Link in bio
Steal that look for only $599
Is my jacket worth it?
Sam is the jacket really worth it
Sam eBay lol
Lol cool innovation but why would you carry a laptop that's not a laptop when you could carry a laptop?
I can carry a person.
Because SCIENCE
Cheap(er) and light(er).
Project Linda is a pretty good idea, they potentially could place a discrete GPU inside to run every android game flawlessly and since it is android you could get windows XP or maybe windows 7 on your phone to make a portable gaming beast. still talking to potential investors but it never leads anywhere
ok, good luck in the future.
Very cool been waiting long enough for this tech to finally get her hope it's powerful enough
So it's a dock..... It does not make that much sense but the concept is really cool.
This is the kinda future stuff i've wanted since I was a kid.
I'd prefer getting to know Valerie over Linda any day!
Primeval Media project Valere is the best thing I've ever seen!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah!!! When is our beloved Valerie
release???
No one knows..... Hope it's not like star citizen is like now.
Only Linus has Valerie safe and sound in his home
Well, project Valerie is more of a Gamers dream but i don't think anybody else would really care about it. 3 screens on a laptop is a cool idea for a gaming laptop, but i think LINDA is better for smartphone gamers and casual users alike, the feature extends to more than just gaming, a it does makes watching videos, typing and even browsing a lot better. Surprisingly well executed.Props to the Razer's engineers.
It's has reached a level beyond that of a super saiyan!
Ok so, this is the coolest concept I have seen in a long time, and even with the laptops screen not being a touch screen, adding other features would make this a great deal. Depending on the price tag of course.

G-Money if the phone had 3D Touch like iPhones, they could put two virtual buttons at the bottom and then you would force click them for a click.
TheTechPerson: Or they could do something similar to the newer Macbooks which have a non-moving trackpad, I think that if it could be done it'd be fair enough.
TheTechPerson that’s a genius Tthought
FiveSquared 25 Thank you!
Finally a way to watch a movie from my phone without hotspot or tethering. Nice concept
Too many questions: using the phone as a trackpad, will our hands cover the right side speaker? How big is the internal battery, and can it charge the phone? How many kidneys do we need to sell to purchase this?
AfonsoSousa31 he mentioned that the Notebook battery will charge the phone.
That looks pretty dope!! Nice, clear screen.
knowing razer, if the laptop part ever hit the market, it would retail around 1000+ usd
I really like your hairtcut Austin! it looks good. Also, Project Linda looks AWESOME.
It would be cooler if it had other speakers built into it, to compliment the ones on the phone.
You know there's room since there's no CPU GPU or Ram, fans etc.
If they add an HDMI port you could connect your phone to a laptop to a monitor
Last time I was this early Austin posted before Linus ;(
Linus posted before him lol
Liam Boulton thats the joke lul
Linus is just faster
Ever considered "The Verge"??
I know, I said it because other people might not know of Linus.
This is exactly where I see smart phones going in the future. Docking into full fledged laptops. Glad to see they're trying it
if it isnt too expensive, it's a really cool concept.
It is lol
Yaaaay so now if someone steals your laptop, they steal your unlocked phone also! Woo hooo!
But surely you'd be a bit more careful with your laptop, no? Why not lock it if you have to leave it unattended or just take the phone out of it?
Matthew Ledford Only people that are retarded get their shit stolen. Truth hurts. Dont be dumb as shit and leave your shit vulnerable. Otherwise you deserve to lose your shit to someone else that would take better care of it, or would sell it. I am not encouraging anyone to steal but people steal thats life. Dont be dumb.
EMT! THANK YOU. unless you get beaten the fuck up in a jump fight
Gav Com And thats why you carry around a gun. Otherwise dont live in a shitty neighborhood.
EMT! Preach.
I thought of this a while ago for Samsung dex
Can’t wait for the ultimate razor phone video where he uses this laptop configuration, the razor made triple screen upgrade, and a pluggable gtx 1080 through the usb type-c port.
Combine this with those laptops that can fold into tablets and you've got the ultimate mobile experience. A phone that becomes a bigger phone!
Man, you are man's best friend.
You rock buddy.
But can it run Crysis?
So old men
U r old as shit
But will it fit in my Honda ?
Is all abot metro last light redux now boi
F**k Crysis, will it run Battletoads?
I love how I have to watch an ad before I can watch an ad.
Add GeForce now support to it and boom!!!!
The afterparty stuff agreed, then it would be a real gaming device!
that would be awesome
That'll never happen since it's not a shield device. The only android devices that can access geforce now is shield devices and I'm not betting on nvidia making it available for any android phone anytime soon since that exclusivity is part of what makes the shield brand.
TessellatedGuy Geforce now is available in Mac and Windows so it's not just for shield devices.
I'm talking about android devices (Which in case you didn't notice, the razer phone is one).
I hope this will be on sale soon cause this is awesome to have a laptop that is powered by a phone which serves as a track pad this technology is amazing and I'm looking forward to project Linda
Do a video of this vs the Samsung dex
This is the first attempt for a Smartphone/Laptop convertible that doesn't suck. I see a lot of potential and great ideas coming up from those projects that smartphones power desktop (Samsung Dex), Laptop (Razer Linda) or Tablet terminals. Especially with external hardware to support this task.
its like the Nintendo switch of laptops
Nintendo switch: we made a handheld that can turn into a console. No one can beat it.
Razer: Hold my mcfly
Where's the left and right click?
Like Apple's Trackpad, it may require one or two finger taps to do either.
Vainglory in thumbnail i click
Alpha knight you're not alone
Can't w8 4 5v5
YES FINALLY
I have the Razer phone 2 and would but this in a heartbeat for 500
SAME. With how good productivity and professional software has become on Android, this would easily, EASILY be my main computer and everything.
Not a single HP Elite dock, NexDock or anything has even come close to the beauty of the implementation Razer did here.
Razer going the Nintendo switch way
Can you f@gboys shut up, it's nothing like the Nintendo Tablet!?
Cheshire Hat i don't think he is saying that razor stole the idea I think he made a joke
Ikr

I just watched three videos on this...I don’t regret a thing

Can you review on the Acer aspire E15
I'm going to buy the Razer phone just for this in case they release this project
Generic hey guys comment
Looks Awesome can't wait to buy one...
I don't want to be annoying, but I am 100% sure that Razer wants to keep the concept.
Definitely interesting how they probably thought ahead of the time with the phone's design to work into the laptop. I like to think that if there is a matte screen sticker the trackpad experience would've greatly improved.
But can it run crysis?
E.B Benjamin Beats no obviously
I think this has a really big place in the business world. Especially if they also have a dock that hooks up to a monitor and keyboard at the desk. All your stuff around one device.
The game being shown is Vainglory btw
No shot Alan Turing.
Omg Sherlock
This idea is super cool if you're in need of a laptop but I personally wouldn't want to replace my laptop with it even though it seems super nice
Buy a normal laptop, then install Phoenix OS or Prime OS or any other Android x86 OS. Problem solved.
@Deon Denis *uBunTU iS a anDroId oS* or what?
That would also meat that all future Razer Phones have to be the same exact size as this phone.
fantastic idea!! Microsoft needs to make a surface phone and then a notebook that can integrate it like that as touch pad and you can have full windows 10 x86 x64 with win32 apps notebook! just add batteries to the notebook and a lkt IO no other cpu or gpu hardware and that will make it super thin and light!
johnnyxp64 Microsoft gave up on windows mobile in 2017
If they added this to a purchase of a new phone ..... im sold id get the razer phone in a heart beat.
If this work for every phone im going to buy it
crazy albanian hacker it won't
Only the Razer phone is Optimized to use it
I think other phones will also fit
"optimized"
Mathias Brekkhus no lol
Having the phone act as the trackpad is a really good idea! I think that one huge improvement would be having some version of 3D Touch on the Razer phone would make clicking on the trackpad a lot better. And while we're adding Apple hardware to the device, why not just add the A11 chip as well.
Of all people to get ideas from the Nintendo Switch... Razer? What?
@Austin Evans
This is a really cool idea, and hopefully they'll keep up this form factor with laptops in the future. I think it makes sense as the next evolution in laptop form factors since most people are using smartphones these days, so carrying out like this dock with a bigger monitor, keyboard, more ports, and more powerful CPU, GPU, and RAM is something I think most people might use instead of a traditional laptop.

Or maybe from now on Apple will just have an iPhone X and releasing newer models of it and just have a parenthesis and a year number to differentiate the updated hardware?
Razer switchblade anyone
I can imagine people collecting phones and laptops to create the ultimate set-up
But what's the point of this?? Why not just get a normallaptop ?
Jay Zam interresting if you got the Razer phone and if the laptop thing dont cost too much
And just run an android emulator
Jay Zam you can run fortnite or pubg mobile and wreck people
I do hope that Nex Computers or U PERFECT can turn this concept into a universal production reality. Okay, satisfying different types of phone won't be easy, but at least they can take the motorized USB-C port as an inspiration.
Linus did it first lol
gyuri adamosi Apple is still the best so get over it
Garbage Gang lmao
no name what’s funny

No lol

I guess it's a more humble thing since Project Christine.
How is this a great idea? Why not just buy a phone and a laptop?
Maalick Umarsherif ikr, this is such a dumb concept
Maalick Umarsherif This concept is for you to turn your razer phone into a laptop which I know you don’t own.
Unknown94 but ur gonna be paying $500+ for a shit laptop that won't even work without a phone
Parminder Sandhal I can assure you it wont be more than 100$
BadAtGames no way
This is pretty awesome, I think ultimately we will just have one device and dock it everywhere, home, work, car. This looks like a start, as the DeX from Samsung.
For some reason Austin's voice just kinda pisses me off....
Such an eye candy concept.
Nice, since they have a phone doing all the work, they can make a pretty sturdy chassis for the laptop.
Razer is that one cool company that I want to see succeed in the smartphone world
Finally something good from Razer
Okay, thats really cool. Microsoft and windows phone could have really made something like this special. Either way, good job on this one Razer.
