Richard Perkins is a globally recognised leader in the field of Regenerative Agriculture and is the owner of Europe’s foremost example, Ridgedale Farm, Sweden. He is the author of the widely acclaimed manual Regenerative Agriculture, regarded as one of the most comprehensive books in the literature, as well as Ridgedale Farm Builds.
His approach to no-dig market gardening and pastured poultry, as well as his integration of Holistic Management, Keyline Design and Farm-Scale Permaculture in profitable small-scale farming has influenced a whole new generation of farmers across the globe. Garnering more than 15 million views on his blog, and teaching thousands globally through his live training at the farm and online, Richard continues to inspire farmers all over the globe with his pragmatic no-nonsense approach to profitable system design. - Хобби
You are so right. What matters the most is that regenerative agriculture brings nutrients back to the soil.
exactly!
Comparing Apples to Oranges. Love your work keeping us informed and educating us on regenerative agriculture
Maybe his apples to Industrial orange peels...
Bang on dude. You might compare the two systems, but based on risk to soil..there was a stat from Dan Ketteridge I think, who said Conventional Ag uses 70% of the verticals energy consumption but produces 30% of the food. Conversely, small holdings use 30% of the energy and produce 70% of the food. I am sure within this there is some missing context, but it's a good place to start a discussion
I think the biggest problem is due to ease of modern monocrop chemical farming. Now a tiny percentage of people actually grow all mainstream food. People aren't willing to work to grow food or here even support local sustainable farms. Too few care about quality food and only care about the cheapest and easiest food
Absolutely. The future is decentralized, regenerative agriculture.
People want to treat biology and nature as lower tier than technology, when in fact, they are highly efficient systems that should be supported and enhanced.
We don't need artificial fertilizer, we need systems that create good soil. We don't need an artificial immune system, we need a consistent diet that supports and enhances the one we already have.
Technology should enhance our use of nature, not degrade it.
And our systems of consumption and governance should encourage individual freedoms, not constrict them.
Well said Richard. Communities have disintegrated at great social cost. We need solutions to rebuild them not least for mental wellbeing. You certainly are part of the answer.
Thank you mr Perkins!
Sorry, but there is an error in the subtitle at 0:13. It says "feeling" when the voice is saying "feeding."
Well said.
You are so right. 👍
As a newbie to regenerative agriculture, after watching many of yours and other videos, reading acouple of books and going to a meetup in Halland, I tried to explain the concept to a friend. It sounds great he said. "But why are not everybody doing it?" I didn't have an answer to this. I'm not a farmer... Maybe you can explain?
Because they are lazy? Regenerative agriculture requires thinking. Conventional is often routine.
The whole system is rigged for control and industry profits. They turn all farmers into addicts of the chemical industry and all the people downstream become patients after years of mineral deficits. They get a guaranteed market and the population slowly gets more docile. They think it is great.
Who do you think gives money for research into nutrition and farming? A simple way to guide the future trends...
@@riselikeaneagle "Who do you think gives money for research into nutrition and farming?" 😎
It's easy. Money gives, I don't know how to translate it into English, "bezcenna" lichwiarska Międzynarodówka/the "precious" usurious International. Less valuable and even worthless nations eat away, release greenhouse gases, litter and poison the planet. The "precious" nation devised that the "worthless" nations must be decimated to save the earth. Of course not completely.
A billion must stay alive. Otherwise, there would be no one to lend to.🤣
Why tanks, guns, planes. It's risky. Through the stomach to the heart? No. Through the stomach to the sand.
Tradition, young people have to have immense personal will to say to their Dad, Uncles, Grandparents and the local farmers (and bureaucrats) 'You're all wrong'. But is is expanding. I read somewhere the 12.5% of all Ag activity now includes some element of Regenerative/Permaculture advice. Almost without exception they will have heard something about it but most are also in the debt spiral caused by Agribusiness, and by implication, their bank manager. It needs young well-informed farmers.
@@peterclark6290 Yes. The "magic" word ,"bank". Banks full of bucks, empty paper. They use it to wash gold out of the air on our backs. All they have to do is give it to us in the form of a loan and gold flows out of the air. I have debt and loan sharks have my hard work turning this shitty paper into gold. Yes. this is a spiral of debt. An old Polish proverb says: good habit, don't borrow. And the newer one says: whoever takes money from a pimp stands under a lamppost. God bless.
spread the wisdom
Amen!
Conventional farming has been a success so far in poisoning humans/animals
And lands
I don't believe its that simple, but partially that is true.
Living here in in a bigger metropolitan area like most other these days I wonder why the prices still seem to be so high when you are able to pick it up without middle man and also ready to buy big pack? Would it be possible to get the price down with some kind of "Super big pack"? The price is so important these days.
Hi, just .made biochar after seeing your video...are you seeing benefits? Hard to find scientific data on biochar. Thanks
😊👍
for a video to be a Short in the youtube system is has to be 60 seconds or less.
Get emm
so what is your tons/calories/protein per set area produced then?
The echo of past generations. Quality doesn't do numbers, that's the entire point.
But watch his on-farm videos. Richard's right up there in sales and income while supporting a large intern intake every year. The bloke's a bloody gem of a human.
Out with the old in with the new is what I am telling the conventional farmers who are afraid of the changing times. I have lived in agriculture area my whole life and worked on conventional farms, there is no changing the farmers of old mindset
They call themselves conservatives and I laugh to their face
Regenerative Agriculture has within its complete message the pastoral prescription for an entire planet. It can eliminate deserts, drastically reduce flood and drought, provide clean river and lake water, balance the CO₂ requirements, feed many more billions and do so nutritionally and at the same time preserve habitat and ecosystems. It needs to become part of the constitution of any nation. Even for the 'climate change' people it is the fullest answer to all their concerns (except for polluted oceans, that will require a large mechanical effort).
Calling wheat empty calories is an absurd thing to say. Is wheat a complete form of nutrition? Of course not, and nor is any other crop. Wheat has a significant amount of nutrients in it and can provide a significant portion of nutritional calories when accompanied by supplemental other nutritional foods such as greens, legumes, etc.
Sounds useless.
Well said.
