Using the touchscreen boosting FPS may be a "touchboost" kind of thing. This is commonly used in Android smartphones: as soon as touch input is detected, CPU and GPU frequency are automatically increased for a while to ensure the device feels responsive to the user input.

You think it is running the OS Android? Or do you think ARM is an Android based hardware? I just can not understand how you can insert Android into this. Why not talk about the touch boost Microsoft uses in all their touch devices. I mean at least Microsoft was involved with the development abit more than Google was.

Everything being soldered is more of an ultrabook thing than an Arm thing. All of the x86-64 based machines are doing the exact same thing. They are focused on making everything as thin as possible, so daughter boards and the easy upgradeability that they bring are out. The good thing is that hardware requirements are not rising anywhere near as fast as they used to be for the type of workloads that machines like this are built to handle, so you don't really need to upgrade the computer during the typical life-span anymore as long as it was reasonably spec'd to begin with. Still, if you are worried about that, then hopefully Framework will release a compute module with an ARM processor on it as they always make their computers as upgradeable as possible.

But on the same low resolution, even the Steam deck run the game better.. and it's cheaper too..

You got a new laptop with ARM based chip, so all you did is playing games? What type of review is this?

The reason they made it so easy to open is because there's nothing to upgrade (other than storage)- kinda like 'hah hah, it's easy but pointless!' and it does make replacing/upgrading the storage way easier. I've fixed a lot of laptops and ya (50-80 over the years)- I tried refurbishing them for a while but always broke even so stopped as a result. Lappies are a pain in the bum to take apart/put back together.
That it can even run Cyberpunk is kinda impressive for an ARM computer.

i think ifixit gave it a great rating due to the insane ease of repair, with how simple that case is
genuinely an okay laptop (if you ignore the arm processor)

The fact that it can launch some game trough a translator is kinda impressive, I remember when I had one of my usual "god damnit I'm done with Microsoft" phases and tried Linux (and Wine)... just to return to the old MiSery again.

hard to believe Qualcomm released with high price and without Arm gaming support. It would have been nice to see how fast smooth smartphones games are on this laptop

Hey Dawid, that weird "8 bit" effect you were seeing is likely due to Windows' "AI" upscaling, which is a new option thats present in Windows Graphics settings on these devices. Try turning it off to see if it helps

It's quite impressive how arm works on windows, I think in the future if windows optimize its software and drivers for arm it can become really good and use far less power. Imagine in the future that an arm chip with 39w of power can run like a gtx 1650 or 1650s even when new technology can destroy those cards it would still be extremely impressive and the battery live would be better. Imagine a Steam Deck as a Laptop but with a bigger battery and a build in screen, mouse and monitor with ports while running Steam OS. That can actually work better and last longer.

It's an interesting move in technology progression, sure, but there is still a huge elephant in the room: compatibility with old hardware. On both a professional and gamer level, there is a LOT of stuff that simply won't work through prism, such as audio/daw equipment, midi interfaces and controllers, external dongles for security on POS terminals etc, and of course things like eGPUs will have no drivers either. This is a large enough shift that it will require all those industries to catch up before it can be reasonable to consider this a takeover/change, rather than just an alternative option for people who only need a simple PC.

Thanks for all the great videos! I have to say I think you were a little hard on this laptop. I mean, it can run a playable GTA on an ARM based laptop that Microsoft made using an ARM to x86 translation layer... that Microsoft made! Once upon a time if you told me Microsoft were going to make a laptop using an ARM chip that was going to do on-the-fly translation to ARM and it could do *some* gaming I would have said you were out of your mind. But the fact that this is even as good and as nice a laptop as it is is blowing my mind! Honestly I can't believe as much of this works as it does, and the fact that some of it works almost well is impressive. It would seem like some software updates would have the potential to improve this and I'm sure by a version 2.0 this might be pretty fire. Wow. Honestly... it works and it's pretty good and that's impressive!

This is better than i thought!
Basicaly a phone chipset that runs cyberpunk!
    Things are moving forward.
I am waiting for the moment when i can just use a samsung tablet for gaming (pc games on a tablet).
That would be so amazingly cool. Natively , without cloud gaming.
