Alan played this role to perfection. His character was very complex. He was full of pain and part rage. It was no wonder after all he went through growing up. But he took it out on Harry poor guy. But once Harry found out Snape was trying to protect him from Professor Quirrel I think his attitude changed a little. It wasn't until the end that harry realized how much Snape risked his life to protect Harry because of his mother. Whatever else he was, Snape was capable of very deep love.

His face was so beautiful with that longer hair..not to say he wasn't beautiful before. Two instances stick with me in the last movie. One, how he slightly raises his head when he knows he's about to die, and two, right before he sends out his patronus.
