I know people say that he's just too obsessed with Lily but it broke him knowing that they were going to be attacked he begged for them all to be protected I know he's in pain that he couldn't be with her and that she chose a man who was not nice to him however he wanted them all to be safe regardless of the past pain and he feels guilty for what happened to them he just doesn't know how to truly show it
