the first time I ratted, was my 3rd run. It was factory as I was still new to the game, I had no idea what was going on, but I managed to rat attack some geared guy, went to loot him and found a kitted rpk. Not knowing what it was and assuming the space gun to be worth something, I bolted to the exit and left my 2 friends to die, netting me an easy 100k. That was the moment I realized that I was a rat.

I just come back to this video from time to time and realize how this video shaped Tarkov's culture since this video was released. The rats vs chads movement took off, and those two terms are now commonly used in everybody's "Tarkov dictionary". Thanks, Sam. We love ya.
and these 2 words have spread around to other games which may or may not even share same genre (battle royales have now rat players, hunt showdown and the cycle have rats and chads).. thats something.. thats crosscultural now
@@ForsakenOnRUclips bambi isn't same as rat... bambi is fresh spawn player - bambi is referring to them not having much gear on (no weapons or just melee, no armor either or very low) - also the behavior of bambi is like deer in headlights - they run alot, especially if they are being shot at - rat isn't running as much, they creep, they loot, they are opportunistic and ambush from shadows - rat is almost opposite from bambi in many ways - only similarity is that they both want some loot - difference is that rat gets loot because of greed - bambi can turn either into chad or rat depending on their playstyle

@@StudleyDuderight I was, once upon a time a solider, while I wasn’t a grunt, I was a tanker, and when in doubt we Chad-it-out blowing through 200 rounds to obliterate infantry targets. TLDR; It depends what job you are how ammo is precious to you.
@@_Dogberry_ A real soldier he says. You may have been combat arms but you were still just a tanker. Your tank carries your ammo for you. Even mechanized and mounted infantry have the luxury of vehicles to carry their shit for them. Ammo becomes more precious when you take away the "pack mules."

I just use a pistol kill a scav n use his gear. Pro tip look for the sks or hunter scav.
It’s amazing how applicable this is to so many games, and Sam is prob the first one to really talk about these play styles so common in survival games n such

If you got a rich account that is basically pretending like you dont have an money..
To give an idea, I will at he beginning of a wipe do so many scav runs that my stash is worth at the very least +50 mil, this raid I made it a 100 even.
By that time the PMC has lvl 6 armor and at least a few kitted m4s and at least some decent ammo, whole set of nades, big backpacks, etc etc.
Im definitely no chad, but I dont know if I qualify for rat.. I think Im a bit in between.
For me its all about survival rate, so I dont pick fights if I dont have to (sounds like a rat), but to do hatchet or pistol runs, this is something I only did first wipe. PMC goes out fully or doesnt go out at all. (sounds more like chad, since the thought of going out with several mils worth of gear probably is not so tempting to the pure rat), my playstyle is more close to a milsim, one where im trying to be as sneaky as I can. When hiding I will try to just let enemies pass, except AI scavs (this doenst sound like a rat or a chad, I guess a rat would take easy shots whenever they could, chad would just go in and fight), even if I get a clear shot. I dont like to fight dirty, (sounds a bit chaddish) but I get a immense kick every time im hiding and ppl are passing by me few inches away. (sounds again a bit ratish). Sometimes they even run against you and never had a clue you were there. Love it!
Only one moment when I know Im chadding is when I see extract campers. That lame stuff pisses me of. Ideally I will take the extract and just try to hold it till the last bit from the exvil camper in hopes of getting him a MIA, if I know that wont work due to situation or simply cause its failing il just try to kill the filthy rodent. This last part sounds a bit chaddish again.
My main focus is looting, even as a PMC and questing. So this sounds more like a raat I guess.
I think im a bit a hybrid, depending on the specific situation.. :p

Just started out, I have no idea the worth of anything. Found a bar of soap, a screwdriver, and a pack of 120 5.45x39 (or something like that). Immediately watching every corner and walking around the edge of the map before walking out into the open plains where I stepped on 2 different landmines. No idea where the extractions are or how to open them
I'm still so absolutely terrified of the game, I'm on the lowest rung of even the rat ladder - I just get in and squeak out with just whatever my scav had on him.

A week ago on factory I stayed on the third floor after looting, not moving an inch, when my friend rushed floor 1 and got exterminated by some geared guy.

@@user-it6jd1sb6k Sure, most streamers aren't going to have max Rep, but your Scav is just too good of a resource in of itself to ignore. Even without Lighthouse being the way it used to be in terms of loot spawns, the occasional night run there for tech loot will have some really good returns

6:27 My dad did this in real life when he was a kid. He went out to a prarie after school to hunt rabbits and pheasant. He saw something and had his bow drawn all the way back and just before he let go his buddy jumped up in front of him and yelled, "HEY DAVE!" and spooked him so he shot him in the head with an arrow. The kid survived and the doctor said if he hadn't had his wool beanie cap rolled up like he did and the arrow penetrated another couple millimeters he would have died.
Lesson for today: Don't jump in front of people with weapons. It's fuckin' dumb.

This playstyle wasn't the best before the hideout, but all the new players and the hideout made the way most people would play a survival game more viable,its more enjoyable to be sneaky like a rat because you don't have to kill a super geared person to make a lot of money.

Same, I'm still low level, but rat hardcore. Yesterday I did a scav run, had a labs keycard on spawn, and literally ran to the exit on customs. In and out in 4 minutes didn't fire a shot, I don't even think I saw another person.

I love being a rat. When the Killa Killers started coming to town. I went straight into the tech stores. Let me tell you of a little secret that only rats know.
People were running straight for Killa and extracting, thus if you went in as a Scav you could be in the raid as early as 48-40 minutes. You know what that means for rats right? Them tech stores be waiting and they got graphics cards and bit coins!

I wanted to pay my respects to this video as I have transformed from a chad into a rat, learning hard lessons, but eventually eating my pride to make my Karuna (Ghosts of Tabor). Now I have so many guns and money that I don't know what to do with. I sit in a tree for 45min with lvl5 gear and baller guns stacked with AP. Just so that I can wait for that sweet kill before I go loot the drop-down loot room, and loot in peace. I see an airdrop? Yup, find a tree, sit in there, wait for someone to walk into the red container, and then I paint that interior to match it's exterior. Now I have GPU.
