Asia & BJ, you’ll love their "One Thing Leads to Another" and "Saved by Zero"!!
and the song, Stand or fall, another great song
Saved by zero is a great song!
All the songs from that album were great.
So underrated band of the 80s - they were great in concert 👍
They are so great to see live!! One of my favorite bands to see still! Going for my 5th time in a couple weeks!
They are still great in concert!
Me too. Newton theatre day after t giving.
Underrated band. Saw them in concert, it was fantastic.
@Asia and BJ ..Thank you for Reacting to this Song. This was considered "New Wave" when it came out in the early 80s and the subject matter was terrifying for those of us who grew up then because it talks about a Nuclear attack from Russia during the "Cold War". The "Red Skies" is the after glow of a Nuclear Bomb in our Cities at Night and the aftermath. The 80s had a lot of very Socially & Political Songs that were "catchy" yet the Lyrics were scary..
“Reach The Beach” is a great album.
We were all worried about Reagan & Gorbachev trying to outdo each other by "pushing the button". Most of the Fixx's song seemed to reflect this tension. The best of theirs (to me) is the first release, "Stand Or Fall". Nice discussion, btw. :-)
@PegsHouston. The ‘82 release of this would have been the post-Brezhnev, Andropov/Chernenko-hardliner era, before detente was ushered in by Gorby and take-no-s$&t Reagan.
I got to see this band live 🔥 they were the warm up act for “The Police” on there Synchronicity tour “83”
…….also the Flock Of Seagulls lol 🤣😂
I saw that tour too. At Comiskey Park. Ministry was the first band on. Joan Jett, also. Fixx, Flock Of Seagulls....and the sound was pretty bad and then magically great for The Police
Their biggest hit was "One Thing Leads To Another." Personally I really like "Saved By Zero" and "Sign of Fire."
Stand or Fall was another great one they had as well.
My favorite was Secret Separation.
I just had an 80's epiphany. Thank you for that. You guys are just the best!
Underrated band
All New Wave era bands from Britain mostly, in the 80's were great..NAKED EYES, THOMAS DOLBY, Howard Jones, Flock of Seagulls, UK Squeeze, and more...
One of my favorite bands of the 80’s. They have a lot of great songs.
This is new wave. New wave was a label used for new bands with a different sound than traditional rock, and dates from late 70s into mid 80s or so. It's a pretty broad, catch-all label, so you'll find quite a range of sounds lumped under that "genre."
The Fixx were innovators. I want to say they were a combo of Prog and Alternative rock, but they weren't TOO prog or TOO alternative rock because they pulled us hard rockers in too. They just had that really cool sound that was fresh and rare - sort of like the Cars.
Great band from my days in the military...."Saved by Zero" and "Sign of Fire" are still on my playlist.
Other songs to check out: "One Thing Leads to Another", "Are We Ourselves?", "Deeper and Deeper", and "Saved By Zero".
Loved them back in the day. One of my favorite bands when I was a teen in the early 80s
The band ABC is another great euro pop group that y’all would really enjoy!! The look of love, poison arrow & who wants to be a millionaire are a few of the top ones. Also, the FIXX do a fantastic version of these boots are made for walk-in!!!
This is one from my teen years in highschool that was played everywhere. You couldn't get away 'nor would you' from this great song and band.
Lots of good follow up suggestions have been mentioned already. If you go on a kick with the Fixx also consider Deeper and Deeper
Their song Stand or Fall is a great song to,
Red Sky at night sailors delight, Red sky in morning sailors take warning.
I’m so happy that ur reacting to The Fixx. Such a great band! Thanks Asia and BJ
There was and still kind of is a New Wave revival. That started in the late 90's. New Wave originally started in the very last 70's. The Fixx are part of the original New Wave. New Age is something different. Examples are Enya, Vangelis, Kitaro and Tangerine Dream.
I like these guys better than a lot of the 80's bands of this era. They had a little more. I have their Phantoms on LP and CD. It is a great album.
Solid band with lots of great songs.
That was a great song. A catchy vibe.
Beautiful music as always a and your reactions are aswell absolutely perfection!
Thank you so much!!
🤠 pleasures all have a pleasant evenin ❤️
Ditto the comment below two great songs of theirs !!!!! In Britain they were just getting really big then Duran Duran and their polished videos took over.
THE FIXX, was a New Wave Rock Band from London England 👍❣️🎶. Their other American hit was SAVED BY ZERO 🎶🎸❣️
Underrated band...
Stand or Fall!
Beautiful Friction is a fantastic song by the Fixx. They sound incredible live, a very talented group of musicians.
The guitar work is so cool on this song 🔥
This song was written about the Cold War and us all being obliterated by nukes! Thank God that didn't happen! Love the Fixx!!! Thank you for doing this song!!! They are an amazing band!!!
Most of the same people who were scared of a nuclear war in the eighties are the same people screaming for a nuclear war with Russia today.
Not New Age just dreamy. Great song! E-O is a phrase Sting used a lot in The Police vocals as well. Do The Fixx "Secret Separation" next. "You touched my heart so deeply, you rescued me, now free me" - "I'll bear one precious scar that only you will know again". In my humble opinion, one of the most touching love songs ever written. We took these songs for granted back in the day. It's only years later that we realize how great they really are.
Everything they did was gold. They were one of the best bands of the Eighties, and they're still great. I was a teenager when they came out, and I loved everything they did. Jamie West-Oram is in my Top 10 Favourite Guitarists. Their lyrics are amazing, their vibe is world caring and compassionate, they are excellent musicians. The Fixx were one of the best bands of the Eighties, no questions about it.
I saw The Fixx in college way back in the 80’s. It was a great concert. Going to see them in November.
The 80s, was my teenage/ into adulthood decade… this song was totally on my music collection of all my own personal favorites of the 8s😍🎶🎸🥁❣️
Saw these guys in the late 80s & Early 90s in college and they were sort of in a down swing, doing the college circuit but they were fantastic and I sort of had forgotten all the killer tunes they do...Red Skies, Deeper and Deeper, One Thing Leads to Another, Saved By Zero etc....
They did a song with Tina Turner called Better Be Good.
"Saved by Zero" is a song by the Fixx that I'm sure you've heard in commercials.
I always liked their song Secret Separation as well.
They also collaborated with Tina Turner on her single Better Be Good To Me. Excellent!
Oh God the Fixx is amazing! One of my favorite bands❤
The Fixx was an early 80s band and one of the first new wave groups to get a lot of U.S. air play. My favorite song and video of theirs was "Stand or Fall."
This was New Wave...They were also a little harder rock than some of those bands...
Hydrogen bombs exploded above the atmosphere in the 1960s, ... after detonation; soon after, the sky turned red.
Old adage "Red sky at night, sailor’s delight. Red sky in morning, sailor take warning” which was supposed to predict the weather.
1982 Was the height of the Reagan era and cold war. Nuclear tensions between the USSR (russia) and U.S.A. and allies was also at all time high as Reagan was aggressively confronting the USSR and outspending them in arms race.
Awesome group. Seen then live back in 1987. Listen to their other songs.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I remember hearing this one and I did not have a quiet moment in my mind until I bought the cassette tape of 'Shuttered Room'. The whole album is just great!
What type of genre is this?
Growing up in the late 1960s thru the 80s was a very interesting experience!
So much innovation in the blending of sounds and musical styles.....just a fantastic time to be alive.
Great reaction to a great tune! Still not quite sure why these guy's weren't bigger than they were...
This band was similar to Duran Duran, they had some good hits in the 80's.
Great reaction video to a song with some legit staying power (bittersweet today, sadly). Listened to this song and "Stand or Fall" often, back in the day as a US Army tanker in the US & West Germany (back then). That was during the tail end of the first cold war, when getting smoked by nukes was always sitting at the back on one's mind. Thought we were past that; certainly hope we are but still quite eerie how this song hits today.
That 80s sound drifts into my ears like a old friend also play SAVED BY ZERO 1982.
Stand or Fall next please! Thanks for reacting to one of my favourite '80s bands.
I was born in the 70s, but the 80s is still to this day my music. Started with New Wave, got into Punk/Hardcore, then Metal. I freaking love the Fixx. Yeah, Cold War was scary times. As a Canadian, just worrying what dumba** Reagan was gonna do, as a child.... If you haven't already, watch Land of Confusion. The original Genesis version. Amazing video!
Kinda odd thing I think about. The title I think is taken from an old saying, but they've turned it around. Like red sky's at night is the bad thing, but the actual saying is "red sky's at night, sailor's delight. Red sky's at morning, sailors take warning".
This sounds like the later remake (personally prefer the original) other songs by them you could give a listen to are, 'One thing leads to another' 'Outside' 'The Fool' 'Stand or Fall' 'Saved by Zero' they have about a dozen albums (not counting live or compilations) and roughly 30 singles in their catalogue.
One Thing Leads to Another, is great too
It’s considered to be 80’s EURO POP
Something you have to think about with a lot of 80’s music is the Cold War happening. There always seemed that the threat of a world war happening any minute.
Stand or Fall I think was their first big hit
They still tour. Cool band.
Oh how i loved that song ,and them when they were out!
The stuff I was stuck with, now y’all know my pain
Progressive Rock started in the early 70s. New Wave came out of punk, starting in the late 70s with Dire Straights, the Cars, Blondie, ed al. Don 't get stuck on labels. Great music is great music!
This song takes me back to being a wee boy, crusing down the Pennsylvania back roads with my dad in his 1986 caddy coup Deville
Wow ,thats a photo of them now? I should talk...we were all young and pretty back then . Im of the best generation of music( in my opinion) and were all growing old and dying off together...but the music will live on!
Yes, this was part of the new wave.
The new wave came out after disco/country movements, rock appeared to be pushed into the background. The punk scene came out that appealed to some then came the new wave artists like: JoyDivision, TheSmiths, New Order, TalkingHeads, Tears for Fears, Rem, TalkTalk, SimpleMinds, OingoBoingo, DepecheMode, TheFixx, ThompsonTwins, ModernEnglish, BigCountry, SoftCell, DuranDuran. Devo, JosieCotton, Payolas, PsychedelicFurs, MenAtWork, ViolentFemmes, FlockOfSeagulls are just some. This brought in synthesizers as part of the music.
The bigger names in the list if you have to go back to their first albums to get the flavor of the time.
The song is about the aftermath of a nuclear attack.
It's a very chilling Song when you think about the Lyrics! Similar to Tears For Fears "Mother's Talk".
Good song. I liked "One Thing Leads To Another" and "Saved By Zero." Please check those out sometime donation less, haha shoot again. This song finds The Fixx lead singer and lyricist Cy Curnin singing about the aftermath of a nuclear fall out. Makes sense it would be on the T2 soundtrack.
New Wave started in the mid-late 70s.
I suggest their songs Stand or Fall & Saved By Zero
Retro/New Wave music is what The Fixx are!
They're on tour right now.
As far as i know it was an old mariners term meaning you were going to have good weather at sea if the skies had a red hue at at sundown
It's from a sailor's peom,
Red Sky at night, sailors delight
Red Sky at Morn, sailors be warned.
This is new wave! Very '80s. Lol. Especially about the Cold War. Watch the video next time.
Dope track
They have so many other great songs too
Y'all You're the first I have heard covered this please react to Secret Speration I have tried so hard to get other reactors to cover this song. Yes, this song was New Wave in the early 80's. he Fixx as the most underrated 80's band. Thanks from Euless 🤠
My favorite is Reach The Beach, then Lost Plane.
It is new wave, with sprinkles of punk and rock.
The Fix were awesome, right up there with the Clash, the Cars, Spandaugh Ballet…several others
Yes it was “new wave” like devo
Late 70s like 78 - 83
Definitely a genre Worth rabbit holing
New Wave:) MTV The 80's Most Amazing Decade of Music!
Like an alternative rock.. we danced at night clubs to it 🎉😂 drunk of course!
- a very visionary song in which also dating back to 1982
80s cold war music. Gorbachev , tear down that wall. Loved The Fixx
