The sound editors deserve so much credit for balancing all of those individual musical streams into a cohesive and well blended whole. Amazing!
I know right, the balance of vocals such as the female Soprano vocalist in contrast to the male vocals was superb as well as the feature instrumentation that created energy at vital moments throughout the music. Well done sound editors. That's a great number of tracks right there.

I just cannot even begin to fathom how much time it took for the audio and video. Assuming they did the audio in Logic with 800 rows and maybe final cut for the video?
Seriously! I thought the music videos I had done took a lot of work. And those ones only had 4 or less parts! (And, no, I haven't done very many because of the work they take.)

Seriously, I was stunned (in a good way) at her incredible ability to hit such a high note and sustain it while maintaining a connected sound, without being breathy or punching the note. I don't know her, but clearly, she is very talented. Amazing!! As a wannabe soprano opera singer, I applaud her for her tremendous talent!

SO HONORED TO HAVE BEEN A PART OF THIS! Our high school students approached Vocal Point and James Stevens to create an orchestral version of this amazing work for our Christmas concert with Vocal Point. James did an AMAZING orchestration of his work and with a little help the orchestra premiered this version of the piece in 2018. Thanks to an amazing team of technicians, musicians, and dreamers we have what might be the most EPIC hymn arrangement on the planet. THANK YOU! Thank you for letting Lyceum be a part of it. And consider that as masterful as this piece is, it is but a small snippet of what awaits for believers. Imagine a choir not 800 strong, but tens of millions strong (and more!), all directed and performed by many of the greatest musicians of all time, in a perfect setting and passion to get it just right.
If that doesn't give you some goosebumps I doubt you're imagining it strong enough.

We worship God with the best of our ability, and the people here deserve credit for worshiping him with all of the abilities he gave them.

Music is meant to invoke feelings in the heart, whatever they may be. Non-religious people can find this song beautiful, because it is beautiful. It doesnt have to be about religion only. The performance and the beauty of the song matter just as much to some people, if not more as they are what exemplify the song. Everything does not revolve around religion. Please dont try to call for someone to repent because they pointed out music they liked.

I'm so honored and grateful to be a part of this journey. James Stevens created a beautiful masterpiece beyond anyone's imagination ... including myself. During the year of pandemic, the world has become stressed and lost hope in what each day can "positively" bring them. Even today, I can only imagine and feel for the people of Beirut and the disaster that occurred there a few days ago ... and other disasters in peoples' lives. But if we hold onto something good, a positive light will come of it. The positive light today and hopefully for days to come ... even years from now, is the new release of "Nearer, My God, to Thee." This song brought together 800 individuals from 55 countries, to take a moment to put their world on hold and learn something that not only inspired a new spirit within themselves, but once put together, hopefully will inspire the world that there is a new bright light to give hope in a world of darkness. You don't have to be religious to be inspired by the efforts of 800 individuals, all worldly distancing, all from different cultures and backgrounds, working together to bring a moment of peace to your lives. I know that all the times I've heard this song before, it has brought peace and comfort into my life. Today's release brings more in-dept & lasting peace. I encourage the world to take a moment and listen to this new version. If you like it, please share with your family & friends. I wouldn't stop crying from the joy - to stand next to my brothers and sisters, with the memories of walking this earth together, singing without the burden of sin on our backs- all to the glory of our King.
The most Epic Zoom meeting I have ever had to experience even just as a viewer. These 800 people will forever live through millions of lives across centuries, impacting lives, unraveling strange revelations of God's purpose for our lives, and the sole objective of our existence. We are now over 7billion in this planet and it is super amazing to see 800 people use HIM as the focal point to represent each of the identities, cultures, perspectives, and much more of these 7billion+ people. I am so grateful for the opportunity to participate in this project especially since all of my performances for the semester were cancelled. I performed this live in 2018 with Lyceum Philharmonic, and it was a neat experience to perform again virtually. :)
