    Day 1 on my new Carver surfskate. Ended up with a BlackTip/C7 trucks and I really like the length. First impression was how well it translates to moves in the water. The ability to rehearse over and over compression, extension, look where you're going, chin to shoulder on heel-side turns, etc. is invaluable. Legs got a serious workout as well! So good cardio and great practice for my next session at Lowers! Thanks for letting us all know about how beneficial it is to practice surf moves on a skateboard.

    Love these videos. I particularly liked your tip on staying high so the rebound can be downward. I had a similar strategy as a grom surfing on my single fin in the late 70s. For me I needed a fat wave of at least overhead size to make staying high workable. I think the first roundhouse cutback I saw was of buttons surfing at v land in a surf film. Then the local hotties (such as Anthony brodiwich) started started doing them in our waves south of Durban.

      Keep at it. Skateing helps too. Don't get too lost in the details and technical aspects, not that there's anything wrong with this, but if you want to rip sometimes you just gotta go for it, nothing in your mind but going as fast as possible and destroying the lip. That said, listen to Noel cuz dude knows what he's talking about, I could have used stuff like this in my development. Also, don't try to do an air until you've mastered the basics. Drives me effing crazy when people who can't do a turn try to do airs.

    Noel, this tutorial is AMAZING! Quick question. After you "glue your chin to your shoulder" and do the cutback, you compress while turning the board 180 degrees to get out of it. Do your feet and the pressure you put on your feet do the same exact thing when you're surfing when you do the 180 out of it and compress out? Ie. If I were to take you off that carver and put you on your surfboard, would your feet be doing the same exact thing with weight shifting from one side to the other?

    Hi Noel
    Thanks for the video
    I find that a lot of times when im coming off the bottom straight the top of shoulder then i start a roundhouse cutback.
    my fins(large,82 kg) will release into a tail slide or a snap half way
    Whilst this is cool move i can't seem to hold the rail and drive the board back on rail to the white water.
    Any tips?

    • @surfnshowreviews7777
      @surfnshowreviews7777  4 года назад +3

      Just sounds like you are shifting your weight to far forward to fast.... just apply a bit more weight to your back foot by sitting down a bit through your turn and hold it there until you want to come out of that turn then shift your weight forward at the end of the cutback or rebound off the white water to gain speed down the line again. What makes your fins release is shifting your weight forward.... if your fins are letting go or sliding then sit down a bit more on your back foot and keep it in the water for traction until you want to change directions.
