That is why the helmet remains extremely stable, even at high speeds. The outer shell is slim,compact and comes in 3 different shell sizes. The ventilation has been renewed as well. The visor comes with an anti-fog lens. The helmet is prepared for the communication system Cardo Packtalk slim.

    Hey Champion Helmets, i've been watching your videos a lot lately since i'm in need of a new helmet.
    I currently own a Shoei Neotec and been with it for around 4 years now , where only last year i replaced the pads.
    I dont think the C4 is any better than this, especially when it comes to overall head fit, but still my personal opinion with only 500k km on the C4 as borrowed.
    Anyway, kinnda got bored of the modular segment and was thinking of moving to the Sportstouring one (owner of a z900 so naked bike)
    My question to you would be, how much different is the noise cancellation between a RPHA 70 and a Neotec??? Cause in your test the RPHA70 comes lower in DB compared to the Neotec, but i still hear quite a lot of people complaining about this, plus the fact that you are testing all the helmets on a 1200GS with a big ass windshield xD , so i guess the credibility of the noise results might drop a bit :P

    • @Championhelmets
      @Championhelmets  4 года назад +2

      Noise is always a bit tricky with helmets, windshields aside, there're always different sensitivities to noise and a range of other factors. That's why we try to at least use the same bike for all our tests to keep them comparable.
      So, when tested, we found the RPHA 70 came out at 97 dB while the Neotec 2 was 101 dB. Though some may experience it differently, the RPHA 70 should also still be quieter since it is a full face helmet, which means fewer cracks for noise to enter the helmet.
      What did you think of the helmet's performance?

      Hi@@Championhelmets
      So i received my helmet from you guys yesterday and i went for 200km ride (mostly fast B-Roads with around 100km autobahn)
      1st things first: AWSOME VALUE FOR MONEY! Respect HJC
      2nd i have had 4 helmets for some long trips till now: Shoei Neotec, HJC IS Max 2, Icon Battlescar and now this RPHA70. The RPHA70 has the ***BEST*** dropdown visor for me, not only its far from the nose or further from it, but the quality its at an OAKLEY Sunglasses level, with a light dark mixed with kinda of a very light blueish effect if you are good at noticing it. The transition between them on and off its nearly unnoticable, but make no mistake they do their job to remove glare and to much sunlight with no effort at all.
      3rd i choose a Large size for 59cm head like the specs required them and even-though i doesnt fit me as perfect as my Neotec does, with a simple balaclava, everything is perfect.
      4th had to install my Cardo Packtalk Bold set (with JBL speakers) on it before going for a ride, to compare it to my other helmet, pretty easy to install and not only that but the sound isolation was weirdly good, i mean i took my DB off just for the test (Z900 full system) and the way it sort of repelled the exhaust noise compared to my Neotec (going 4 years and a half) was kind of a black magic.
      Wind was something else though, the same level as the Neotec on its initial days, but compared to the Neotec, since this is a Sport-Touring and not Modular, it wouldnt give you so much freedom at turning your head side to side to look at the nature or birds in the fields (why would you do that u moron?? piss off i got bored on the autobahn .!. ) and here i might say this was the only thing i didnt like so much about it (not that it bothered me or something just need to get used to, speak my mind)
      5th as per those jackasses that complain about air flow, grow a pair, u either get air flow or sound isolation you dont get em both, BUT it was 34-35 degrees when i went for the ride, sunny as hell, full Dainese 2 piece leather on AND i simply opened the windscreen for a couple of seconds and thats it, no stress at all eventhough i was engaged in some nice twistiest at high Temp. There is a really good flow of air in it, there is nothing to bother i think.
      All in all for the price/quality ratio and looks i would recommend it any day of the week.
      As for me: Kawasaki Z900 rider, Puig Touring Winscreen and 169cm tall
      Cheers

    • @Championhelmets
      @Championhelmets  4 года назад +1

      For the best ventilating and quietest sport-touring helmet, we'd suggest either the AGV K6, Shark Spartan GT Carbon, or the Shoei GT Air 2. The Shark and the K6 will be the lightest, but you can also see how each of them compare on our road test here: ruclips.net/video/FSDJ0SRDyTs/видео.html.
      What did you think of the RPHA 70?

  • @nderezic
    @nderezic 4 года назад +1

    After the first ride with this helmet I found it very noisy above 50kmh and the noise becomes louder the faster I ride. The noise is coming from the helmet itself and not the engine. It's a low-frequency thumping noise which is coming form the back of the helmet probably due to turbulence. The noise goes away if I tilt my head forward/down. This head position is however not ideal since I sit upright (Kawasaki Versys 650). I didn't have this issue with my old Uvex Boss helmet!

    • @Championhelmets
      @Championhelmets  4 года назад +1

      Noise is always a tough factor to pin down, especially since it depends on so many things including riding position or even fit. Nonetheless, when we took the RPHA 70 out on the road we found it to be among one of the quietest helmets we've tested to date with 97dB, especially when compared to the other helmets we have tested in the same conditions.
      Thanks for letting us know how you've found the helmet so far, we appreciate it!
      Besides the noise, how have you found the RPHA 70?

    • @nderezic
      @nderezic 4 года назад +1

      @@Championhelmets First think you for you reply! I found RPHA 70 a bit tight, which is surposed go away after a while once the lining adapts to shape of the head. It really does a good job at keeping the engine noise out although at the expense of airflow. At low speeds there's no air circulation at all, which makes it a bad choice for commuting in city traffic in summer. It would be lesser of a problem if the visor didn't have weak notches which prevent it to be secured in half-open position. Also operating the exit vent latches is really difficult in gloves. I suppose it's a descent helmet for open road and higher speeds when the weather is not too hot. P.S. I'm planing to make a video of my own about the thumping noise. I'll try to place microphones inside the helmet to record the noise at different speeds.

    • @Championhelmets
      @Championhelmets  4 года назад

      @@nderezic Our pleasure! When we took the helmet out on our road test we found the same phenomenon with the noise and ventilation. Though the noise was excellent, the ventilation suffered a bit in the heat.
      That's great to hear, we always appreciate hearing about how others find the helmet, especially on the road!
      If you have any further questions, we're always happy to help

    • @nderezic
      @nderezic 4 года назад +2

      @@Championhelmets Today I did some testing and have determined that the thumping noise goes away if I remove the windshield from my motorcycle. Without the windshield there's only smooth moderate wind noise - nothing close to deafening thumping I experienced earlier. It's a totally different experience! The funny thing is that my previous 15 year old helmet didn't have this issue although it was larger in size and sucked at keeping the engine noise out! I will need to find another helmet ...

    • @Championhelmets
      @Championhelmets  3 года назад +1

      @@nderezic That is, indeed, interesting. Especially since some find that a wind shield reduces the noise in the helmet. However, with wind noise a lot of the issue comes down to aerodynamics, which depends on numerous factors including the helmet, riding position, and the wind shield.
      Thanks for the follow up!

      Both X-Lite helmets are light, though neither the 803 or 903 have been tested by SHARP yet. Nonetheless, X-Lite has a good track record of about 4/5 stars in SHARP tests, so that should hopefully remain the same
      As far as how they do on a naked bike, the 903 is more touring oriented and will fit a more upright position while the 803 is more racing focused so the visor positioning will be slightly different. Though both still have very wide visors so they should both still fit

      You have absolutely no clue what you're talking about. And even if you thaught you did, you don't! This is one of the most silent helmets out there. If you have no clue, at least don't fool other people with your nonsense. Now go back to your Ozone or whatever cheap brand that is, because nobody is interested in your free advertising.

      @@Championhelmetsi must have no clue what I'm talking about either. I bought a rpha 70 based on your reviews saying how quiet it was and it's horrible. At 60kmh the wind noise is uncomfortable with earplugs in, and deafening without. Maybe if i had a big windscreen like in your tests it would be quiet, but I'm on a naked bike. I've found wearing a scarf reduces wind noise significantly, but it's still loud. If i then put my hand up under the chin bar it gets even quieter and isn't bad. My old helmet that was cheap and the padding is totally shot has zero wind noise at 60kmh with ear plugs and is great without ear plugs. If i was able to return the helmet i would. It's very comfortable. I just can't live with the noise. I'm going to save up to buy another new helmet

    The test is not ok, becouse he has bad motorbike, which has a plexi. You must test without plexi on moto and then meassure air noise.

      Thanks for the concern! While a screen can affect how wind and noise affect the helmet, we are still able to measure good data on our bike. We were the first to start measuring these variables and through using the same bike in all our tests, we can keep our data comparable, useful, and actionable to help give a fact-based approach to our helmet reviews.
      Do you have any thoughts on the RPHA 70?

      Hey there and thanks for sharing your experience! We found this helmet did very well for its decibel level, but noise can also be affected by many factors including age or sensitivity. Other than the greater amount of noise, how did you find the rest of the RPHA 70?
