Shawny Boo - My mom introduced me "I Love Lucy" too. It's classic in that you can still enjoy watching reruns. How awesome to have gotten to go to her hometown. Her daughter, Lucie was recently interviewed about an upcoming movie about her parents. Lucie Arnaz is such a sweetheart, always has been! I would have loved to see the museum and lay flowers at Lucy's resting place...lucky you. I 💗 LUCY! 😊

Has anyone noticed that none of the most popular starlets of the 1950s made any guest appearances on ILL? Lucille Ball didn't want to be upstaged by a more glamorous female star and she had to worry that Desi would make a play for the starlet. The only female of note was a very young, Barbara Eden, who wrote in her autobiography that Desi did try to hit on her.
No I don’t think I could have. It seems to me that she was a strong determined woman, and very funny. I love all of the shows that came after I love Lucy.❤️
No mention of William Frawley, who'd asked Desi Arnaz for work and got the role of Fred Mertz. No mention of how Frawley and Vivian Vance didn't like each other. No mention of how Frawley took the role of Bud on "My Three Sons," and was succeeded after his death by William Demarest. No mention of Lucille Ball's radio career and how she developed a good working relationship at the time with Gale Gordon, who was an earlier candidate for the role of Fred Mertz. I think these are significant details.
I don't think I would've stayed, but that just means she was committed in her heart and tried to make it WORK! Lucy was a caring wife and a loving mother! She will always be the Queen of Comedy💖🙏
Lucy is more than an ever lasting icon in Hollywood. She was and still is a mentor to a lot of young and old women in the world today. She was one of the first successful business women in her time! Even when the world through her a curve ball, she came out smelling like a rose, because she refused to let it bring her down! I know I love Lucy for everything she was, and she will always hold a special spot in my heart!
Desi and Lucille both remarried but lived near each other and became friends with each other’s spouses. They would all get together regularly to play poker. This was said in an interview by their daughter Lucie. When Lucille found out that Desi had passed away she was on a game show with her friend Betty White. It was said that Lucille told Betty that she never stopped loving him.
I believe I could be strong enough I was raised by my dad quiting is not an option you have to pick yourself up and keep going also there was a game called I love Lucy my bought it right away
Lucy was an amazing woman. She played great roles in movies prior to being discovered as a comedian in I Love Lucy. She always had hopes that Desi would be her one and only. Lucy was a wonderful person ❤ I’m so happy that she found happiness with Gary Morton who treated her with love.
Well said, we strongly concur! Thank you for watching our content and for sharing your thoughts. Which episode of I Love Lucy appealed to you the most?
While Frawley got along w/Lucy & Desi, he and Vivian Vance did not get along. After the series ended, he went on to star in "My Three Sons" but left that role (taken over by William Demarest) and he died in 1966. Desi, Lucy and Fred MacMurray were pallbearers at his funeral who they all loved.💗
Not true that she was a star by 1940. She made over 75 films before "I Love Lucy", never having success. It wasn't until television, when she saw the potential in it that other stars avoided, that she became a big star. As far as having a close friendship with Vivian Vance, various sources say they were not close, others say they were. She never discussed the relationship openly, so who knows for sure.
Back when Lucy was a struggling young actress she was in a Three Stooges short in 1934, "Three Little Pigskins" where she played the girlfriend of a football team owner who has mistaken the Stooges for three famous football players. Lucy was blonde back then. By the time "I Love Lucy" started, she'd already become friends with many Hollywood stars and that made it easy to get guest appearances from time to time. One of my favorite pre-ILL movies she did was "Sorrowful Jones" in 1949, where she costarred opposite Bob Hope in a remake of "Little Miss Marker" from 1934 starring Shirley Temple.
Lucy was extremely talented, but she also had a very bad personality, most everyone that was interviewed (Including her daughter and son, who only played were able to play and have a huge closeness with Desi, but very little from Lucy) said she was very cold and a very bad temper, when Vivian Vance was hired, Lucy made sure that Vivian never dressed or looked better then, her, in fact though Vivian was around the same age as Lucy, Lucy made sure she looked much older. It was a tough household, though Lucy was a superstar in front of the screen, and Desi was thought of as a genius behind it, which made them a powerful team, with Desi's drinking and womanizing, and Lucy's very cold and paranoid personality, the marriage was very tough for both of them, though they always loved each other very much.
They were human beings with flaws. So what? People without flaws are entited to judge. They deserve better than this. And the idea that the cast members hated each other is a gross exaggeration.
I was born in 1957. But, I lived LUCY since 1963, when my parents bought a color t.v. But, I Love Lucy, was in black n white. I still lived it. Does anybody remember the show when she finds a sheep and trys to cut it's hair. I remember that episode, but idk if it was I Love Lucy!?

Wonderful and pleasant woman she was.
Given that she died of a ruptured abdominal aorta, with her height it is possible she had Marfan Syndrome and did not know it.
