- Thought I'd make a video detailing all of the modifications I've done so far on the Yamaha WR250R to turn it into the ultimate lightweight adventure bike.
There's not much else left to add to the build other then maybe some suspension work, which at my weight isn't too much of an issue but maybe as I start to ride harder, I'll take a look at getting Teknik's to work it.

Great set up. I have many of the same mods on my 2020 WR250R. The bike and I are two months into a South America to USA odyssey, with 7000km covered in Chile and Argentine and much more to come. The little WR is simply brilliant 👍
Thanks!
That’s awesome! 😁😁
Great setup my friend👌
Thanks mate!
Awesome video! I completely agree - I have a similarly modded wr and I don't see myself selling it! Love the WR250R content!
Thanks for watching the vids, Mike!
Same here, bloody love the bike 😃
Very nice. I'm binging wr250r vids at the moment. You've done a great job modding your bike! I've got a great cb500x all modded with rally raid among other things and it's a fantastic bike, but I've realized that since I ride off road alone mostly I need a lighter bike to help minimize risk of getting stuck or injured. Likely going to get a wr250r to replace it.
Thanks!
I’m planning on releasing a whole lot of wr250r content 😁
Yeah, the cb500x is an awesome all rounder, but if you are doing gnarly off-road then you can’t beat the WR 👍
Looking good 👍
Thanks mate!
Nice job, still love my little WR, just goes anywhere with no problems. That little rack looks neat, might get one. Cheers
Bloody love the WR!
Looking good! B and B make great gear. Tank looks like a good size too, you don't want to go too big on a small bike.
Thanks mate and yeah, love the B&B stuff!
Super happy with the size, doesn't make it too wide or top heavy when full.
Tidy rig man 👌
Cheers Josh! 👍
Bike is looking good 👍🏼. I miss my WRR, I made the mistake of selling mine after only a year of ownership
Thanks mate!
Ah, that sucks, I hope the bike you replaced it with is keeping you happy! 😁
Another great one man and thanks for the current specs on the bike. At the end of the day yeah you’ve changed out some stuff to make the adventure last longer but a stock bike will still take you out for a night in the bush. I don’t know if being your most modified bike means the others are just soo good stock or is it cheaper to buy accessories for the wr over the v-strom for example lol
Thanks man!
Yeah for sure, the stock WR is still great!
The reason I’ve done so many mods is that I plan to take this bike on some big adventures (Simpson desert, Cape York, etc) and I think it’s also because dual sports need some key mods to be turned into a proper adventure bike, as opposed to the V-Strom which is an adv bike off the showroom floor.

Great video and bike, it’s a shame it’s been discontinued 😢
Thanks!
It really is a shame 😥
It's also made it more difficult to find aftermarket parts in stock which has been a bit of a pain to deal with.
Nice bike and mods. I would buy one tomorrow if it had another 20HP.
Thanks mate!
Yeah, the HP is the only thing that sucks but I deal with it by having another bike for my HP needs 😁
@@AusMoto I hear you. I have a DRZ400E with the 45HP but lacks in other areas.
Good job. I would add some side racks and brake discs protection too. Did you hear about Mitrax adv addons for wrx/wrr?
Thanks mate!
I run soft luggage so don't need the side racks and good point on the brake disc protection, I'll look into it!
Barkbusters make an addon bar end weight to cut down the vibes even more.
Ah, I'll need to check them out. Vibrations aren't too bad, especially with the new grips (haven't balanced the wheels though, so that's probably the first step to reducing them haha)
@@AusMoto JNS LED headlight is another good upgrade to look at. Little better than the OEM candle lol
@@bazza8947 Ah, thanks for the recommendation mate!
Great vid Josh I love the mighty WR , it took my wife 30000k around Australia with no issues, if I’m going on a hectic ride I’ll happily take her bike and leave the T7 home 👌
@@pjsmotoadventures Thanks mate!
That's reassuring, I've been slowly making my way through the series, so thanks heaps for sharing that adventure 😃
Nice rig! I have one with many of the same bits.
How do you like that wind screen, I'm thinking about that one but I do a lot of enduro as well.
Thx
Thanks mate!
I really like it, but for enduro riding you do find your helmet hits it every now and again.
Awesome setup. Out of curiosity do the stock cables/controls work with the 1 1/8" bars?
They sure do!
Thanks for the info! I may have copied your bar/adapter setup, works really well.
Great bike.. i would love to find a gytr exhaust for my wr250r!! Also love the wind screen can you send me the link.. does the fuel tank come in blue or just white?
Thanks mate!
It was hard to find the exhaust, I had to buy a second hand one. Windscreen is a Parabellum but not sure where I got it from. Yeah, it comes in Blue 👍
@@AusMoto any exhaust is extremely hard to find for the wr250r.. I'm in the US so prices are a little different lol
@@AusMotoalso I went with 14t front sprocket and 49 rear definitely gives it low to mid range power and runs hwy speed just fine without reving to moon
how is the parabellum windscreen ? i am looking at that or the other screen made by an oz company.
I liked it but ended up breaking it, so haven't replaced it. Found that after riding without it, I really didn't need it for the type of riding I do.
Nice setup. Other than the pipe it's just about identical to mine. Although my safari tank is under the Xmas tree for now. Was that an easy install?
Thanks mate!
Yeah, not too difficult. Fiddling around with the fuel pump was a bit of a pain and making the brace fit with the radiator guards required additional work but shouldn’t take longer then an hour or two.
@@AusMoto thanks. I'm not going to bother with the brace. I can't see how it can clear the rear of the fender let alone the radiator guard. Seems like a poor design to me...
@@travishimself1973 yeah, it’s a tight fit 😕
Do you notice steering instability at speed from the Parabellum windscreen?
I didn’t notice any instability
Is that the regular seat concepts or the low?
Regular mate
Hello, do you know where to buy plastic kit for 2008 wr250r?
I am not sure sorry!
Do yourself a favour and get some bigger footpegs then stegpegs but definitely better footpegs
Yeah, definitely going to upgrade them!
Great vid mate, any idea how much the bike weighs as is now?. cheers
Thanks mate, no idea to be honest
