You need to get more comfortable riding quicker on the sand. Try it without the luggage, build up confidence, then load the bike up with luggage. Keep the weight low if possible. 80kph + , dont look so close at the ruts.

I reckon you guys should be fine..you've done Googs so you know Big/Little Deserts are much harder. As far as water goes everyone is different. On our recent trip the first day I drank 4 litres 28c but the next 2 days were cooler and drank about 2L each day. Extra for cooking etc and I had icy cold Coopers each night and rode with only a Camelbak which helped alot.

Guys, look at your luggage set ups. 14 litres of water, how long do you plan on being in the desert? Keep the fluids low, repack as you go if need be as you use fuel and water. That CRF set up that is as wide as a semi, just no. Like a big pendulum. Piss the 5 litre plastic containers off and buy bladders, the adv ones are good. Anyway, you will have fun. And yes, the big desert sand is tough.

Ha ha fully loaded bikes in sand, comedy ensues. Maybe do it without the added fuel just to make sure the set up holds together, but year that sand is a lot different to the Simpson. Also I’m sure you’ve googled it already, but with that gas cooker you need to turn the top pieces outward so the grooves line up with the burner section. It had me for the first few trials as well ha ha

Steering damper. Try and ride faster, momentum is your friend. Baggy front tyres. Get brutal about the weight reduction. Simpson is a lot firmer generally. Great vid.....

Not having ABS isn't real problem for anyone who knows how to brake. Having shit brakes is a real problem!

On your weak front brake I would find some new grippy brake pads--your dad may have polluted you current pads with lubricant by accident. New pads may wake up your brakes--its inexpensive to try.

8:44 “bloody four wheel drives”. Is he kidding? Sherlock homes there just deduced a random piece of wire is clearly the fault of the always irresponsible 4WDers.. Typical attitude of many riders. Funny the same riders that habitually whine about 4WDs are happy to get assistance when they breakdown, get injured or need recovery. The same riders will blame “cagers” on-road for incidents they as aggressive, immature and ego driven riders caused or contributed to. Like many Adv riders I drive and ride off-road and here’s a shocking revelation - their are dickheads in both communities.

I was the guy who bought Josh's T7, was a great bike in many ways but in slippery conditions it was a handful and was very topheavy. Sold it and went to a 21 690, just as much power but much more manageable in difficult conditions.

I remember my first time on the Island and rounding turn 12 for the first time and looking down that straight. That was the most exhilarating feeling I'd ever had on two wheels. I too started braking at the 200m marker and was almost stopped by the time I got to Doohan corner. Toward the end of the day, I wasn't breaking at all and realised just how much speed can be carried through that corner. I understand your trepidation coming up on Lukey Heights but that was my favour corner. I found I could carry so much speed through there that I made most of my passes there. The most fun I've ever had on two wheels. Thanks for sharing

The self-driving taxi was crazy to watch. I can't believe they're allowing things like this in California. Definitely very impressive if those things are reliable and safe.

That could have been a lot worse if it had taken the chain off the sprocket.... After watching your video I went straight to the garage to check the bolts on the chain guard on my vstrom 1050!

Pumps are like that only in certain states like California and New Jersey. California has it's nice parts, but I certainly wouldn't recommend visiting it first. I'd have done Oregon and Washington state if on that side.

Welcome to the US. The gas pumps are only like that in California. The rest of the country you just put the nozzle in the tank and pull the handle.

I went to LA and SF prior to COVID. I have some vids on my channel of my escapades. Including nearly getting arrested. Alice’s is a great place. Any road out is absolutely stunning!

in aus and yes I live in Aus they have srts as cop cars and dirt bikes like showed and police trucks like the cargo truck but a police one and the have ford ranger and landcrusieser

I love how there is no stigma against waddling your bike around... I always found it stupid when people said "stop waddling on your bike!" If you can waddle and you are positioning yourself in a parking spot or wherever else... waddle away! Who cares?
