Don't do what I did and keep your water and extra fuel as low as possible. I had it on my rack and it was really top heavy. When I got rid of the fuel the bike handled the sand way better.

Good luck Fellas. Im not an expert, but I know running low on water out there in the heat is miserable. If its looking hot, even 30degrees make sure you have enough.
