This is a good music. It’s really interesting. The music now today is not as good as before, but the music before was better than now don’t you think guys?
Such a rare treasure - arguably the two biggest sex symbols in American pop music history. It’s sad that Marvin Gaye died the month before Tina released her monumental 1984 comeback album, Private Dancer.
He was tragically murdered by his father. They both endured horrific hardships but persevered to share their immense and inimitable talents with the world.
@@annieg1812 Phil Spector was not involved with this show. He met Ike and Tina a few months later when they were performing at a club on the Sunset Strip. Contrary to popular belief, Phil didn't pay Ike to stay away. He paid Ike and Tina's label to release them from their contract so that he could sign them to his own label. Phil said he invited Ike to play guitar for the "River Deep, Mountain High" sessions but he didn't take up the offer.
I saw this on a Documentary about Marvin Gaye on Showtime on Video. I lent it out to a Friend and I never got it back. Oh Well. They were wonderful together yet they both came back around the same time but while Tina rwas grateful for her second chance, Marvin messed his up with drugs.
Never knew this happened excellent. Tina Turner and Marvin Gaye. I have at times wondered while bringing out music in the same era and crossing paths from time to time via touring if artists like James Brown Ike and Tina Nina Simone Etta James Aretha Franklin Ever considered going to Motown or collaborating with Motown artists.
Yes, Ike & Tina definitely considered going to motown and even recorded a track with them called "Somebody needs you" check it out! I don't know why the deal fell through but i'm sure I would never let someone have complete creative control of himself or Tina
@@kamariatoure42 Thanks for this very interesting information. @kamariatoure42 both Marvin Gaye and Tina Turner music was played alot in the house growing up in the UK. I shall checkout the track.
Marvin Gaye's wife Janis, who he courted when she was a teenager, actually said Marvin tortured her during their marriage. It's also well-known that he struggled with drug addiction so he was far from a Prince Charming.
@@saintjay8058 Are you referring to the Texas pics from when she was recording the live album in 1964? Her hair is a different style but not longer. The dresses she wore were sleeveless but still conservative compared to her later style, most of them were evening gowns. She's wearing heels in this performance with Marvin too. In 1965 she wore boots and pants for some performances. I haven't seen pics or footage of Tina wear miniskirts until later in the 1960s. Look at her performance on Hollywood a Go-Go in early 1965, she wore this same wig. She also wore this wig in the 1965 promo pics with Ike. Later in 1965 she wore longer wigs like on The Big TNT Show.
Marvin Gaye had a beautiful voice and was great performing duets with female vocalists but was not a good husband. He courted his wife Janis when she was a teenager and tormented her. He was also a drug addict. There are many singers and musicians who were troubled like Ike but they didn't have a movie made about them which fabricated incidents to make them look bad and their spouses didn't become superstars.
Actually, I always thought Tina and Marvin had similar facial features. They were two very beautiful people. I always loved this song. Do your thing Marvin and Tina.❤❤❤❤💯💯
I never knew this iconic duet happened! This should be put in the Smithsonian!
Marvin& Tina are spectacular here!
Really interesting. This is a good music from 1965 from 1966. This is Marvin and Tina as they were younger.
Marvin and Tina's chemistry is popping. She could've left Ike long before she did
Marvin was just too cute for his own good. He’s just adorable…Tina is just smitten!
Marvin was very handsome!
Two LEGENDS sharing he same stage. Wow, wow and wow!

Look at Tina, she was all smiles 🤩🤩 it's obvious she had a helluva crush on Marvin 😊

Timeless. Just feel good music. RIP to both.

Woooow!!!! Such a good day, I fdound that video! The most finest male singer with the most explosive female singer!
Never knew they did a duet. Loved it! Good chemistry too!
He's so good he's hypnotic to watch .
Ike must have lost his mind when she sung this duet with fine azz Marvin Gaye.
they probably paid Ike alot of money to stay from the studio.

👍👍👍Sure that Marvin was a prince compared to Ike who tortured Tina during years...Thanks for the video

Tina was far from an angel.
She fooled all of y'all.
She was Chrisean rock before Chrisean rock.
Classic
I strongly believed if Marvin lived long enough he would have been on the “ We Are the World “ album
Blossums in background
Tina really toned down her look for this appearance. She's wearing something similar to what Tammi Terrell might have worn - even the hair!
Good observation
This was before her raunchy look with long hair and mini dresses. She still dressed conservatively during this time.
@@bluesugar58 nah look at pics of Tina live in Texas in 1965 she was wearing the heels skirts and long hair this year lol

Tina said Ike was ugly. Howd she feel about Marvin. Looks like she stuffed her bra for him...lol when she took his money..lol

Tina said she is attracted to light-skinned men. She did say once that Sam Cooke was handsome but she prefers white men.
Ike wasnt too bad looking when he was younger and when he dressed nice I've seen worse
@@lindahines9380 exactly
@@sandraatkins2539 actually, i feel the same..im asking what TINA thought.
Who are the white cat's singing background?
The Wellingtons
I bet Ike was punching the air during this performance.
Ike wasn't worried about that
She was probably frightened deep down over what Ike would do
I bet Ike was jealous.
