holy moly i got a country gig in a few weeks and needed a lesson on this one and wouldnt you know it good ole uncle ben showed up and took me honky tonkin. your channels a one stop shop
I love the self satisfied look when you nail that first rendition at the beginning of the video. Great playing and Great tutorial....not too wordy and to the point. Thanks to you I am gonna nail this one.
Nice change of pace -- really enjoyed working on the ideas in this one. I would also be interested to hear you talk more about the solo in terms of the chord changes with the song as you hinted at in this video. Keep up the great work!
Nice video tutorial Ben. Gonna be easier learning this, with the help of your video. I agree, that if you haven't checked out Brent Mason, killer guitar player, he is the best in the biz. His name pops up on thousands of country cd's. Thanks for the tutorial.
Not my genre Uncle Ben but a tasty solo none the less and a great lesson to boot!!! Thanks for the licks Ben and reminding me that I do suck at Guitar!
That's awesome. Between this amd Cherry Blossom lessons my fingers hate me right now. This even reminds me of old Waylon Jennings stuff. Good work man. Would love to see an All These Years by Sawyer Brown acoustic lesson
Ben Eller could you do one on either Neon Moon or A Man This Lonely? The guitar through both songs and the solos are excellent and Neon Moon could also give some folks some latin “Cha Cha” and modern “Rhumba” experience. A Man this Lonely could give folks some great ballad experience including a great intro, playing riffs around a vocalist, and solo.
Late to the party- but I wonder on that “impossible” double stop- I don’t know if Brent plays one, but it could be a bender. It can make some crazy sounds. 🤷🏼♂️ just a thought. Great job! Love it! I think country lead doesn’t always get the love it should!
Thanks for your awesome lessons. I love how you do such a variety of styles. Also, thanks for turning me on to Andy Wood. Loved your show at the Bijou. If you never listened to him, check out Harry Cody (Shotgun Messiah) especially the Second Coming album. One of the most tasty guitar players EVER!!
Nah man this lesson was great, you are a great player and teacher, I just meant that playing with a thumb pick reveals a lot about Brent Mason's choices of notes and phrases. Different things are easy to grab physically if you do it like he does. @@BenEller
@Ben Eller, don't forget, Brent has a G-bender in his guitar (and sometimes employs a B-bender and on some guitars both!), so some of what you're trying to do is because he's able to play an open G and bend it to an A note. Those benders are part of his style and he uses them a lot. He also uses false nails for a twangier sound. Yes, he used like Lee Press-On Nails for a while. He says that using finger picks doesn't give him the same control as natural or false finger nails. Check out any interview and look at his signature custom shop Tele for more info.
Funny you should mention Brad Paisley. He actually did a cover of that song for B&D's Last Rodeo show! If you haven't already, I suggest checking it out, it's really good! The intro sounds nearly the same for a bit. Would I just play something like that for it? Great lesson, God bless you
I would like a solo lesson from Loudness. Almost no RUclipsr guitarist (even those who claim to listen to more obscure heavy metal) has ever done a tutorial on any of the solos composed by Akira Takasaki. I love his work but it's so hard for me to play his stuff since none of his tutorials exist.
Uncle ben, brent himself would be proud!! You did him justice and its a mighty fine lesson.

Uncle Ben You taught this lesson so well.
Brent Mason is as awesome as they get.
Brent Mason is one of the great studio guitarists of all time, just a monster player and his solos kick ass
And that geetar sounds wonderful!
Maaan I love Brent Mason and when you cover him Ben! Thanks for the great lesson!
Most enjoyable. Thanks. Lovely Mans.
thanks uncle Ben, I'm playing this on Sunday. I was close but you learned me real good how to do it more better.
I'm learning this now for a Country band I was recruited in to. Great video. Thank you!
Hi Ben.. nice.. thanks for the Brent Mason licks. How about some Johnny Hiland? He shreds with the best of them. Thumbs up!
Thanks Ben, always enjoy your lessons. Really like seeing Brent Mason covered.
Great lesson !! Thanks for sharing.
Just stumbled upon your site. Thank you so much for your expertise. Great teaching method!
I love the self satisfied look when you nail that first rendition at the beginning of the video. Great playing and Great tutorial....not too wordy and to the point. Thanks to you I am gonna nail this one.
Great comprehensive lesson. 🙏🏼
That Talman is so cool!
Nice job sir!
The absolute best lesson out there for this tune. Thanks much!

Thank you! There’s so much good guitar work in country music. How ‘bout some more?
Thanks so much for this. A nice break from my metal wood shedding. Quite tasty.

I'm gonna spend my morning learning this. Definite nice one for the repertoire. Thank you, Brocephus.
Thanks Uncle Ben!

Great lesson! As usual.

Damn, that was tasty! How about the solo section for "Eastbound and down"?
That’s a good one!

Michael Wilson Along with Derek Frigo of Nuff z' Nuff, I would say. ..
You can almost never trust lessons like these. This one seems spot on. Try it with a thumb pick and it will make even more sense.
sean fried haha I know what you mean, man, I’m playing the same NOTES as Brent, but I’m definitely not playing them like he did!

Dao Yang couldn’t agree more!!!
Control the volume yourself and keep the noise down .
You play as a team not fighting on stage !!!!
Yassss
Howdy uncle dingus, funny, I'm working on my next broken heart myself. Why do you poke my feelings like that?
He has benders on the neck for the licks that you can't do without. The neck bends
Is that a purple pick? I gotta know what brand haha
Check out jimmy olander from diamond rio. teach mirror mirror he has bender things that hook to his belt
Is there a link to the tabs?
1:45 in the video, my man
Great guitar knows no genre.
Start at 2 minutes 30 seconds to skip the chatter
You don't talk enough!! Geezuz!
A set of brand new STRINGS just sounds TERRIBLE................Maybe it's just me.
