So evidently it only has a 100/100 Ethernet connection rather than the 1 gigabit connection making for slow file transfer rates. You would think that in this day and age everything would be gigabit..

Faulty cable, an updated video will come soon. But yes,the speeds that your seeing is for 100. With the cable changes I'm getting around 120-150MB/s

Need to google this mate. 1gb Ethernet equates to 125mbps transfer speed.

Is it discontinued? I saw posts in reddit that WD no longer support home cloud

WD didn't discontinue the home cloud support, is one of their best selling. Maybe the post you saw was referring on an older wd that doesn't receive any more updates. With an older one is safe to use it as an SMB but is not safe to use it over thr internet. But all models from 2016 up are still supported at the moment

WD Tech Support can’t even help me connecting my Windows 11 PC via SMB or map it as a local drive in the same network.

@@techforlife91 Just got it 2 months ago. Tech support can’t do anything, I even let them have control over my PC to set it up via remote desktop but they fail. I can do SMB with my Macbook but not Windows 11 though.

, turn on Local network access , then make a Local user name and password. Once this is done open FILES in windows, here on the top bar ( Normally opens in Home by default, click there and it will let you to write , add : \\youripadress ( for example mine is \\192.168.0.117 ) and press enter, windows then will ask you to sign in with the username and password , here you put the username and password you creater on the Local one ( Local user name and password) , and press ok.
or , once you put a local user and password , go to NETWORK, and wait for a couple of secs, you will find there the WD MY CLOUD , double click on it,put user name and password and thats it
