They did care. But they didn’t want to give the terrible movie more PR. The movie is awful btw. It’s basic AF and the whole central character and his journey eye rolling at best. That doesn’t mean Disney doesn’t also suck. But choosing when and where to use legal means is just a pretty important thing for corporations to do. Folks say Disney sued preschools when really they just sent cease and desist letters to not use their characters without permission. These definitely are different things. I get why Disney tries to control how their characters are used to make sure their IP isn’t diluted or associated with things they aren’t actually finding/affiliated with, but I still think giving a shit about preschool wall murals is dumb AF.

Apparently the reason those film makers threw the lemmings off the cliff was because lemmings are really boring and they needed something to make the documentary they were making interesting. We must never let Disney live that down.
I used to be a Disney cast member at Hollywood Studies in summer of 2021. That was when the police sting operation went down and they arrested 17 people affiliated with being p*dophiles, 3 of them working at Disney. I ended up meeting one of those arrested (before she was) and its creepy how I never got any weird vibes from her. Her boyfriend, on the other hand, routinely made those in the college program highly uncomfortable, backing them into corners. Disney does take fingerprints after being hired but before starting work for a background check, but I don't know what's all involved in the background check.
A background check looks for past convictions. Background checks can't determine if someone is a pedophile or if they might do something in the future.

In terms of the pedophiles in Disneyland portion, I worked as a cast member in Disney World a couple years ago and can testify that there are a lot of creepy people that work in those parks. I think part of the problem is that creepiness can come off as friendliness a lot of the time. There were co-workers there I had no idea were actually more creepy than friendly until months into the job. We had a guy basically straight up stalking one of my female co-workers, she reported him multiple times and Disney didn't do a damn thing about it until he was caught taking pictures of her at work and even then he was only given a warning for that, they didn't even fire him. I think the most they did was make sure her schedule never lined up with his and I'm pretty sure the only reason they jumped in then was that the incident happened during work hours so it would have been a liability if they hadn't done at least something at that point. The only time anyone ever got fired from where I worked was when they caused a scene in front of a guest, so I guess that means Disney cares more about their image than the safety of their own employees.

The reason Walt didn't have mothers is because his own mother died in an a carbon monoxide accident due to a faulty furnace in the house he had bought for his parents and he felt super guilty about it.
26:03 I am one of many people who was sexually assaulted on a Disney cruise and I can confirm none of the employees cared about any of the obvious warning signs, if they even saw them in the first place. It's kind of a place where it's likely to happen due to the lack of supervision and some other factors, but mostly Disney just doesn't like addressing these subjects.
Defunctland actually has a very interesting video about the "Ripoff Disney land", the reason it looks so similar is because it was built in collaboration with Disney and was supposed to be a new disney land until disney cancelled the project but since the park was almost complete they used it anyway and changed all of the disney stuff to original characters

I worked at the magic kingdom in Florida from the late 70's to the early 90's. And you would not believe how much gets covered up, a friend of mine still works their and she said that it is even getting worse. With new management they keep cut jobs and she said that most cast members are now doing the work of about two to three people. She said guest are getting hurt left and right, but management just keeps covering over and tells the cast members not to talk about it ever again, if they do they will get fired.

I’m kinda sad that Bobby Driscoll wasn’t mentioned in this video. Bobby was the voice of Peter Pan in the animated film. The way Disney treated him after Peter Pan and what became of him after his career abruptly ended is probably why they treasure their child stars so much now. That poor guy, I think there may have even been efforts to cover up the fact that he died too. It’s been a while since I heard about it. Look it up for yourselves tho. He was in Peter Pan and Song of the South which is another film Disney tries to pretend they didn’t make.

I used to work at a rehab that had the policy "no one dies on property." It was an alcohol/drug rehab. If we found someone dead we were required to do CPR until they were removed by EMT. I actually SAW a nursing staff member do this. So I totally believe a place like Disney would incorporate this. BtW I worked with this company until 2016 so yes it was a recent policy.
The policy for Disney specifically actually hasn’t been a thing for a very long time, if ever. People have been declared dead on property on multiple occasions. It’s just something people kept repeating until it was decided to be factual.
A lot of places do that, cause it saves the company a shit ton of money cause of insurance and things like that Factories with heavy machinery do that all the time, and that is no magical place that keeps a "magical fantasy" vibe
It kind of seems like a responsible policy to demand that they not make a medical call and decide not to bother trying to resuscitate people when they might still be able to be saved. We keep trying as long as you’re in our care seems like a reasonable response, not just for legal reasons either.
When I was in college we had a guy that used to work for Disney's Animation Department as a speaker in my 3D Animation class. After class he stuck around to talk and he told us that Disney might be prestigious but they treat their employees horribly. He said he would be made to work for weeks straight on projects. He said he wasn't allowed to live a life and was constantly being threatened with being fired. He said they would have staff meetings and management would come in and berate them over anything and everything.
Nara dreamland wasn't necessarily a ripoff, it was actually supposed to be the first official Japanese Disney park and Walt had a lot of input on it during the early days but plans fell through so it had to lose the Disney branding. The park actually did well as it's own thing for a while, but a few decades later Universal studios japan opened, was a HUGE hit, and took business away from Nara dreamland. Disney saw USJ and took another shot at Japan and was super successful. Nara dreamland couldn't compete and couldn't afford to keep going. A few years ago the whole place got bulldozed

Here in São Paulo Brazil we had this burger place called Jedi’s Burger which was of course Star Wars themed. Their menu mentioned characters’ names, the decorations inside the place were all Star Wars memorabilia, the furniture was Star Wars inspired, etc etc. They got really popular, we’re featured in some online articles and magazines, and actually were in business for some time without any problems. Then, out of the blue, they got served with a cease and desist order from Disney (which of course now owns Lucas Films) telling them either to stop using the Star Wars brand in any way shape or form, or sign a contract to pay royalties to Disney, or, finally, face legal action. They obviously stopped using the Star Wars brand, changed the restaurant’s name (from Jedi’s to Jeti’s), got rid of all the decorations, which had an enormous impact on their business. They kinda fell into oblivion since this happened. The restaurant is still open, but it is nowhere near as popular as before, and therefore their revenue plummeted and so did the quality of the food. Which is a shame because they had really nice burgers. So, thanks Disney, for ruining a perfectly good burger joint.

So here’s an incredibly dark thing that happened at Disney that I hear no one talk about or even mention in passing but it’s very possible that Disney buried it so far deep down that no one knows about it. This happened a long time ago to a relative of mine(I won’t divulge her name or information to keep her identity safe but if you do happen to find it online please keep her identity to yourself) so what happened was she was at a Disney theme park when she tripped and due to their own negligence and not fixing up their park properly they left a spike out on the ground which she landed directly upon. Her entire eye came out of its socket and the Disney team rushed to get her to Emergency care but it was too late. She had lost her eye but thankfully not her life. Now she wears a glass eye and Disney has given her a lump sum to compensate for it as well as free passes to the park for her and her family forever. But who would want to go back? It’s not enough to cover up what happened to her and give her back her sight in that eye. I once heard a young family member describe her foolishly as lucky because she gets to go back to the park whenever she wants for free and get free stuff. It makes me want to vomit thinking about that.
I will NEVER get over the fact that criminals, who blatantly break the law AND EVEN ADMITS IT, can get away with it. People are killed, lives are ruined, and even before they graduate elementary school, and yet through some BS loophole in the "justice system" they are able to get away. Yeah some are punished and very few I might add, but only to a small degree if that much, yet the victims just have to live with the tragic memory of losing someone close to them or an innocent part of their being forever. It makes me sick.

I saw White Wilderness as a kid in my school. Everyone laughed at the lemmings falling off the cliffs scene. As I got older I learned about lemmings population control method, but never knew crew members deliberately through live animals off a cliff.
Biggest critique of this video would be the lack of knowledge on Nara Dreamland. They weren't just simply a "knock off Disneyland" Theres a whole backstory as to WHY they looked so similar. I was a lifeguard for Disney in Orlando. The reason no one has died officially on property even though they have is because Disney does not employ a Coroner so no one is ever officially announced dead on property, a magical loophole. As a lifeguard, our job was to stabilize the victim(CPR/Defib/Spinal) until Orange County Fire and Rescue arrived and took it from there.

About that “no one dies at Disney” thing: same goes for airlines. Basically it’s quite impossible to pronounce someone dead while in the air. I think there are exceptions tho, e.g. when a doctor is on board the plane.

I think what he’s trying to say is depending on the state or even city the only people that can pronounce someone’s death is a physician or a doctor. Therefore EMS cannot actually pronounce someone’s death and once at the hospital a physician would. But all depends on the city/state.
MrBallen did a video about Debbie Stone's death fairly recently and he seemed to have a good deal of information. According to him it was discovered she was stuck between the panels for quite some time with her body being further twisted every time the stage rotated and it's believed she stayed alive for most of it. No one heard her screams for help either because they thought it was sounds in the show or they just couldn't hear her. Had to have been an excruciating way to go.

Oooh another fact is that people do leave loved ones ashes in rides, primarily Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean! Those ashes then get vacuumed up (if they can) and discarded. It happened a couple times a year. I’m not sure what happens if ashes are scattered in a water ride, that’s one of the reasons you shouldn’t stick your hands in the water! Another person did get some of their fingertips chopped off in Pirates of the Caribbean! And people definitely have had heart attacks on property too…
Not to mention that when both those rides open the skeletons were all real human skeletons they purchased. Some have been replaced since, but others still remain. Same skeletons colleges would purchase for classroom studies back then.

I never understand why these big companies just choose to cover up these horrible events than tackle it head on. Finding out about what happened and how they did nothing, that changes your perception of the company. Instead if that response was them tackling the problems head on and showing that they wont stand for this at least lets the public have a good perception of them. rather than just pretending it never happens.
It's probably admitting to it is what stops them. If they admit that whatever happened happened than they have to address everything and deal with claims and copy cat bad actors looking for quick cash. So showing they don't address it at all saves them alot of time and money, enough to make up for a few people who become disillusioned after a scandal.

The preschool threats to sue still happen. My mother used to own a painting company. She painted a preschool, a couple of rooms with Disney characters, and the owners got back to her, maybe a year and a half later, saying they were contacted by Disney, and she needed to repaint them. The practice of making child popstars is actually really similar to how K-popstars are made. Korean children are forced to sign a contract and a very young age. Afterwards, the kids are trained everyday for however long for choreography and have a extremely big diet restriction. This goes on until a certain age and sadly lots of kids are rejected and even after that whole routine for many years lots of peoples don’t even get to become a popular group and are just left- LEFT so all those years go to waste

There was also a real skull used as decoration in one of the rides. Also some worker hung themselves in the small world ride. I also heard a janitor lady died in her car in the parking lot, the car that she lived in because she was payed so poorly. There were a plenty of other deaths and people regularly spread loved one's ashes at the park so they can rest there which is unsanitary so they end up being vaccumed up.
The skull was donated by UCLA and is very well known. No one’s ever hung themselves in It’s a Small World, that was a provably false rumor. Someone thought they were funny and strung up one of the dolls. And there have been janitors that have died on property, some in pretty gruesome manners, but none in their cars.

That pop star farm thing reminds me of a time when a Disney channel show actually made fun of it. It was an episode of so random where Dylan and Cole Sprouse guess starred and each episode would end with a guest singer and the end of the episode kinda went like this “… we don’t sing?” “But you’re the stars of your own show you HAVE to sing” “Well we don’t?” “Oh… we’ll alright then”
My parents were planning to save up their money for a vacation on Disney Land for me and my siblings. After hearing every crime that happened there and even deaths, I'm glad that my parents didn't have too much money for the vacation
(I DONT KNOW IF THIS STORY IS TRUE OR FAKE.) My mother worked at Disneyland In Anaheim as a summer job in the year 1994. She told me she didn’t remember her exact position/role she was supposed to be doing. But she does remember greeting people at the entrance/checking their stuff. On one day everything was going normal. Until a woman with her 2 children (both maybe 5-10) were about to cross the street. The mother stepped into the street first. But without looking both ways, she was hit by a mustang going at around 60-64 mph. The mother instantly died, (because she hit her head on a curb). Her children instantly start running down the street to see what was going on. Both of the kids start sobbing and screaming “mommy”. The youngest child tried putting the brain / goo back into the mothers head but it was too late. Something that would traumatize my mother for the rest of her life.
11:01 Defunctland actually has a great video about Nara Dreamland. The reason why it was such a convincing "rip off" was actually because it was originally supposed to be a Disneyland park. For reasons that the video explains way better than I can Disney backed out at the last second and fucked them over. Since it had already been in the works they just kind of rebranded everything and opened it up as a separate theme park. Really fascinating video, for sure worth a watch.
There was a funny thing I heard about Disney cartoonists. Apparently, the artists employed by Disney sign a contract that includes giving Disney all rights to the art they create while employed there. This led to some animators and artists to being naughty and drawing non-G rated cartoons. Since Disney technically owns all the art, there is most likely some vault that houses all the dirty cartoons. I don't know if it is true but it sounds true. Hahaha!
My sister in law had the opportunity to work at Disney (she was being scouted by them and/or had friends who work/ed for them) but was like "hell no" because she knew she would be exploited and not properly given credit for her work.
I vividly remember the "America Sings" ride. All guests had to sit in the seats and the entire huge carousel would move around into the next show part, until each animated stage show had been seen. It was one of the best family entertainment sections at Disney, Ca, ever. Each time we went to Disney, we would not miss this ride. Until we visited one time & it was closed and we were very surprised. Then we found out that an employee had been crushed in the moving sections, that it caught her foot and dragged her into the turning divider part. Such a tragedy that was, and that closed one of the most successful Disney rides of all time. It was such a cheerful ride. Everyone would clap & sing to the patriotic animated entertainment, and everyone left there smiling & happy. RIP Debbie. I also recall a few other deaths at disney. The ski-lift cars, the matterhorn, big thunder mountain rail, the elevator at the outdoor cafe, and there is more.
No one ever died in relation to the skyway. One man jumped off and attempted to sue Disney, before he ended up admitting that he jumped and it was 100% his fault. I’m not sure what you’re referencing so I can’t fact check “the elevator at the outdoor cafe”
i was almost kidnapped by a woman in disney when i was 7. i remember how scared i was and how she grabbed my hand with so much strenght so that i wouldn't go, thank god my mom and my aunt found me.

I've worked for Disney for 11 years. Though they don't like the death's of guests or Cast Members called on Disney property, it does happen especially when it's obvious the person is dead before EMTs arrive, Now if the person dies while EMTs are working on them, they wait until off property.
There’s also Rebecca Corium a daycare worker for Disney cruse lines that disappeared on one of the Disney cruises in 2011 there’s so much coverup, mystery and speculation surrounding that case as well, especially how they handled it. There’s so many unanswered questions…super sad and creepy!

You can see how he always targets Ariana and how the other actors try to distract him so he doesn't try to film inappropriate images but he stills focuses on her, and sometimes her Co star ( the girl with the blue highlights, I think it's Jeanette McCurdy) will sit in front of her so her skirt is hidden. ***tw/animal abuse and negligence*** Another instance of animal abuse/negligence happened when Disney was working on Snow Buddies. I don’t exactly remember the entire story, because I read about it a while ago, but I do remember reading that a few dogs died while it was being produced. I’m pretty sure there were more awful stories that came out from behind the scenes when Snow Buddies was in production, but the story about the dogs is what stuck with me the most.
The dogs weren't abused, but they were adopted before they were old enough for the parvovirus vaccine. Their first cast of puppies died from parvovirus because of this.
So fun fact, last time I was on carousel 3 weeks ago, someone literally left right before the theater shifted and left their kids. The person was highly reprimanded, they replayed the scene, and yelled in the theater to sit down and NEVER bust out of the theater about 30 times. I was born in California, went to Disneyland many times. I can remember being dropped off at the front gates, given money to get in, for food and drinks and being picked up that night. This was in 1986 to 1991. There were times when a group of us girls would feel uncomfortable from male staff hitting on us. Good thing we stayed in a group. I sometimes wonder how we were able to escape being kidnapped or worse happening. A different time.

When my sisters and I were really little my mom took us to Disneyland and there was a big sort of hullabaloo by the gates when we were leaving. We weren't really sure what was going on so my mom just sort of turned us into like a little human chain and told us not to let go of each other's hands and tried to like get us out of the park. It wasn't until we were actually in our car driving away that my mom told my oldest sister that a child had been kidnapped and they had slowed the gates down to keep people from leaving without being seen by security. By the time they had found the child that had been taken the people had already cut the child's hair change the child's clothes and told the child not to answer to its own name. The only way the people were able to recognize their baby was because they kept the same shoes on. This was in the very very early '90s and to this day I've never seen the story in the news or anywhere.

After that incident that construction has not been the same at disneyland, it got renovated to be more safe to the employees, adding walls that could break, then it got remodeled as "innoventions", then Tomorrowland Expo Center and finally "Star Wars Launch Bay", but never a rotating theater again.

The thing is, banning Disney from your kids might make them want to watch Disney even more and make them rebel either as kids behind your back or once they become adults because of how influential it is on our culture. Mr Ballen goes into great detail about Debbie Stone! It was a tragic error on the creation of the stage. There was a gap in between the walls and where the stage turned. The stage itself was a concerted ride. The inside didn’t move with the outside did. She went behind it to clean or do something and she slipped in between that space. With no way out, she was forced to turn with each turn of the stage. She went all the way around, twice I think. No one knows how long she was alive for but guests said they heard screams but assumed it was part of the show. RIP Debbie 💔🥺

A note about Nara Dreamland: It was originally supposed to be the first actual Disneyland in Japan, to the point where Walt Disney actually had a hand in planning out the park. There was some sort of dispute while they were building it and Disney pulled out all of their licensing. Nara Dreamland was almost completely built at this point so they just scrubbed all of the Disney branding and opened the park. Disney just left them alone because they kinda felt like dicks for pulling out at the last minute. Then in the 80's Disney would open Tokyo Disneyland and attendance for Nara Dreamland would basically go into freefall over the next two decades. By it's last couple years of operation, there was literally trash and stray animals all around the park and half of the rides didn't work because they couldn't afford to maintain them. Defunctland has a whole video about it's history if you want a deeper dive on the subject. It's really fascinating stuff.

Fun fact, although Disney is known for its copyright strict policies, and for suing every single organization that litterally just interacts with its content, to this Day there is one South American (paraguayan specifically) company that is called Mickey and that uses a logo of "a mouse similar to the Mickey Mouse of Disney" (they are litterally the same xd). Disney did sue the company but ended up losing the trials and to this day Mickey still uses the same logo.
When I got to 11:50 I almost fell out of my chair. Used to work at the water parks. I was specifically told “even if someone is decapitated, you must still must attempt to resuscitate” or them dragging make a wish kids under the turn styles.
This is so fascinating. I haven’t even gotten past tier 2 and I have to comment because I almost became one of these child stars. When I was about 12/13 I was “discovered” my a Disney executive by my aunt and uncle who worked with Disney. They saw a video of me playing guitar and singing and basically said they wanted to give me a tv show. All I had to do was send in a demo CD and an audition tape. How it was explained to me was they they would base the show around a character suited specifically for me. I didn’t do it. Can’t give a definitive reason why; it just didn’t feel right and I didn’t send anything in. It’s so strange hearing about this process from this outside perspective. I had no idea what I could have potentially gotten myself into, and I’m so glad that I didn’t.

Fun fact not that anyone cares, but my school use to hire a dancer who was always a storm trooper or Aladdin at Disney world. his name was Patrick, and in 2014 he was caught in one of these sex scandals with minors. PLEASE talk about Escape From Tomorrow. The production is impressive, but the movie itself is such garbage, it's cheesy, it's insane, the main character is "interested" in two teenage girls, and the entire message is "DISNEY BAD BECAUSE ITS A CORPORATION" I mean, there are plenty of things to criticize Disney for (as evidenced by this video lol) but the director/writer of Escape From Tomorrow puts all the blame on people who dare want to go to a theme park and his idea of criticism is surface level at best. If you ever do talk about the movie I suggest you look at interviews with the director. He compares people cheering at a parade in Disney World to a cult and says the people clapping were acting like it was "the second coming of Christ" and he keeps telling the same story in multiple interviews about how a little girl was screaming over a princess wand, apparently he was pretty salty about that. Also he claims that in the movie the audience is supposed to think the two teenage girls are "flirting" with the main (adult) character, and that the Disney princesses at the parks contribute to the "sexual frustration" of the park because they're women who are attractive. Also in the movie a woman goes insane because she killed a little girl by hugging her too hard.

alot of the disney "subliminal message" stuff turned out to be misunderstandings or hoaxes. The famous "sex" lion king thing was purely coincidental, and the animators even had a laugh about it later. Disney higher ups claimed it spells "sfx" but the animators claim it was just coincidence to this day. As for the the priests "boner" it turned out to be his knees, they just had a bad angle. This was proven when the artists showed off the cells and character design. The little Mermaid cover was based off of a painting of Atlantis done by some artist, and they legit just didn't think it looked much like a penis. They edited it out in later releases. None of them were ever intentional. The Rescuers one was never meant to be subliminal messaging at all. It was likely a prank pulled by someone in the office, and it somehow slipped through. They were quick to fix it in all other releases, because it was only one cell of the whole movie that had been changed.
I love how they didn't care that a whole-ass horror film was made on their property without any permission but a preschool with unlicensed licensed characters on display? Oh no!

That doesn’t mean Disney doesn’t also suck. But choosing when and where to use legal means is just a pretty important thing for corporations to do. Folks say Disney sued preschools when really they just sent cease and desist letters to not use their characters without permission. These definitely are different things. I get why Disney tries to control how their characters are used to make sure their IP isn’t diluted or associated with things they aren’t actually finding/affiliated with, but I still think giving a shit about preschool wall murals is dumb AF.

I used to be a Disney cast member at Hollywood Studies in summer of 2021. That was when the police sting operation went down and they arrested 17 people affiliated with being p*dophiles, 3 of them working at Disney. I ended up meeting one of those arrested (before she was) and its creepy how I never got any weird vibes from her. Her boyfriend, on the other hand, routinely made those in the college program highly uncomfortable, backing them into corners. Disney does take fingerprints after being hired but before starting work for a background check, but I don't know what's all involved in the background check.
A background check looks for past convictions. Background checks can't determine if someone is a pedophile or if they might do something in the future.

In terms of the pedophiles in Disneyland portion, I worked as a cast member in Disney World a couple years ago and can testify that there are a lot of creepy people that work in those parks. I think part of the problem is that creepiness can come off as friendliness a lot of the time. There were co-workers there I had no idea were actually more creepy than friendly until months into the job. We had a guy basically straight up stalking one of my female co-workers, she reported him multiple times and Disney didn't do a damn thing about it until he was caught taking pictures of her at work and even then he was only given a warning for that, they didn't even fire him. I think the most they did was make sure her schedule never lined up with his and I'm pretty sure the only reason they jumped in then was that the incident happened during work hours so it would have been a liability if they hadn't done at least something at that point. The only time anyone ever got fired from where I worked was when they caused a scene in front of a guest, so I guess that means Disney cares more about their image than the safety of their own employees.

Defunctland actually has a very interesting video about the "Ripoff Disney land", the reason it looks so similar is because it was built in collaboration with Disney and was supposed to be a new disney land until disney cancelled the project but since the park was almost complete they used it anyway and changed all of the disney stuff to original characters

I worked at the magic kingdom in Florida from the late 70's to the early 90's. And you would not believe how much gets covered up, a friend of mine still works their and she said that it is even getting worse. With new management they keep cut jobs and she said that most cast members are now doing the work of about two to three people. She said guest are getting hurt left and right, but management just keeps covering over and tells the cast members not to talk about it ever again, if they do they will get fired.
How much do they get paid? Seems like a job you’d just quit if not happy

I’m kinda sad that Bobby Driscoll wasn’t mentioned in this video. Bobby was the voice of Peter Pan in the animated film. The way Disney treated him after Peter Pan and what became of him after his career abruptly ended is probably why they treasure their child stars so much now. That poor guy, I think there may have even been efforts to cover up the fact that he died too. It’s been a while since I heard about it. Look it up for yourselves tho. He was in Peter Pan and Song of the South which is another film Disney tries to pretend they didn’t make.

I used to work at a rehab that had the policy "no one dies on property." It was an alcohol/drug rehab. If we found someone dead we were required to do CPR until they were removed by EMT. I actually SAW a nursing staff member do this. So I totally believe a place like Disney would incorporate this. BtW I worked with this company until 2016 so yes it was a recent policy.

It kind of seems like a responsible policy to demand that they not make a medical call and decide not to bother trying to resuscitate people when they might still be able to be saved. We keep trying as long as you’re in our care seems like a reasonable response, not just for legal reasons either.
When I was in college we had a guy that used to work for Disney's Animation Department as a speaker in my 3D Animation class. After class he stuck around to talk and he told us that Disney might be prestigious but they treat their employees horribly. He said he would be made to work for weeks straight on projects. He said he wasn't allowed to live a life and was constantly being threatened with being fired. He said they would have staff meetings and management would come in and berate them over anything and everything.

Nara dreamland wasn't necessarily a ripoff, it was actually supposed to be the first official Japanese Disney park and Walt had a lot of input on it during the early days but plans fell through so it had to lose the Disney branding. The park actually did well as it's own thing for a while, but a few decades later Universal studios japan opened, was a HUGE hit, and took business away from Nara dreamland. Disney saw USJ and took another shot at Japan and was super successful. Nara dreamland couldn't compete and couldn't afford to keep going. A few years ago the whole place got bulldozed

Here in São Paulo Brazil we had this burger place called Jedi’s Burger which was of course Star Wars themed. Their menu mentioned characters’ names, the decorations inside the place were all Star Wars memorabilia, the furniture was Star Wars inspired, etc etc. They got really popular, we’re featured in some online articles and magazines, and actually were in business for some time without any problems. Then, out of the blue, they got served with a cease and desist order from Disney (which of course now owns Lucas Films) telling them either to stop using the Star Wars brand in any way shape or form, or sign a contract to pay royalties to Disney, or, finally, face legal action. They obviously stopped using the Star Wars brand, changed the restaurant’s name (from Jedi’s to Jeti’s), got rid of all the decorations, which had an enormous impact on their business. They kinda fell into oblivion since this happened. The restaurant is still open, but it is nowhere near as popular as before, and therefore their revenue plummeted and so did the quality of the food. Which is a shame because they had really nice burgers. So, thanks Disney, for ruining a perfectly good burger joint.

So here’s an incredibly dark thing that happened at Disney that I hear no one talk about or even mention in passing but it’s very possible that Disney buried it so far deep down that no one knows about it. This happened a long time ago to a relative of mine(I won’t divulge her name or information to keep her identity safe but if you do happen to find it online please keep her identity to yourself) so what happened was she was at a Disney theme park when she tripped and due to their own negligence and not fixing up their park properly they left a spike out on the ground which she landed directly upon. Her entire eye came out of its socket and the Disney team rushed to get her to Emergency care but it was too late. She had lost her eye but thankfully not her life. Now she wears a glass eye and Disney has given her a lump sum to compensate for it as well as free passes to the park for her and her family forever. But who would want to go back? It’s not enough to cover up what happened to her and give her back her sight in that eye. I once heard a young family member describe her foolishly as lucky because she gets to go back to the park whenever she wants for free and get free stuff. It makes me want to vomit thinking about that.

I saw White Wilderness as a kid in my school. Everyone laughed at the lemmings falling off the cliffs scene. As I got older I learned about lemmings population control method, but never knew crew members deliberately through live animals off a cliff.
Biggest critique of this video would be the lack of knowledge on Nara Dreamland. They weren't just simply a "knock off Disneyland" Theres a whole backstory as to WHY they looked so similar. As for why they went out of business, it wasn't because they were found out and were afraid of getting sued. I was a lifeguard for Disney in Orlando. The reason no one has died officially on property even though they have is because Disney does not employ a Coroner so no one is ever officially announced dead on property, a magical loophole. As a lifeguard, our job was to stabilize the victim(CPR/Defib/Spinal) until Orange County Fire and Rescue arrived and took it from there.

Oooh another fact is that people do leave loved ones ashes in rides, primarily Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean! Those ashes then get vacuumed up (if they can) and discarded. It happened a couple times a year. I’m not sure what happens if ashes are scattered in a water ride, that’s one of the reasons you shouldn’t stick your hands in the water! Another person did get some of their fingertips chopped off in Pirates of the Caribbean! And people definitely have had heart attacks on property too…
I think they close the ride to clean and disinfect the water when ashes are dropped in the water. They have a protocols for that.

I never understand why these big companies just choose to cover up these horrible events than tackle it head on. The practice of making child popstars is actually really similar to how K-popstars are made. Korean children are forced to sign a contract and a very young age. Afterwards, the kids are trained everyday for however long for choreography and have a extremely big diet restriction. This goes on until a certain age and sadly lots of kids are rejected and even after that whole routine for many years lots of peoples don’t even get to become a popular group and are just left- LEFT so all those years go to waste

The skull was donated by UCLA and is very well known. No one’s ever hung themselves in It’s a Small World, that was a provably false rumor. My mother worked at Disneyland In Anaheim as a summer job in the year 1994.
She told me she didn’t remember her exact position/role she was supposed to be doing. But she does remember greeting people at the entrance/checking their stuff. On one day everything was going normal. Until a woman with her 2 children (both maybe 5-10) were about to cross the street. The mother stepped into the street first. But without looking both ways, she was hit by a mustang going at around 60-64 mph.
The mother instantly died, (because she hit her head on a curb). Her children instantly start running down the street to see what was going on. Both of the kids start sobbing and screaming “mommy”. The youngest child tried putting the brain / goo back into the mothers head but it was too late. Something that would traumatize my mother for the rest of her life.
11:01 Defunctland actually has a great video about Nara Dreamland. The reason why it was such a convincing "rip off" was actually because it was originally supposed to be a Disneyland park. For reasons that the video explains way better than I can Disney backed out at the last second and fucked them over. Since it had already been in the works they just kind of rebranded everything and opened it up as a separate theme park. Really fascinating video, for sure worth a watch.

There was a funny thing I heard about Disney cartoonists.
Apparently, the artists employed by Disney sign a contract that includes giving Disney all rights to the art they create while employed there. This led to some animators and artists to being naughty and drawing non-G rated cartoons. Since Disney technically owns all the art, there is most likely some vault that houses all the dirty cartoons.

My sister in law had the opportunity to work at Disney (she was being scouted by them and/or had friends who work/ed for them) but was like "hell no" because she knew she would be exploited and not properly given credit for her work.
I vividly remember the "America Sings" ride. All guests had to sit in the seats and the entire huge carousel would move around into the next show part, until each animated stage show had been seen. It was one of the best family entertainment sections at Disney, Ca, ever. Each time we went to Disney, we would not miss this ride. Until we visited one time & it was closed and we were very surprised. Then we found out that an employee had been crushed in the moving sections, that it caught her foot and dragged her into the turning divider part. Such a tragedy that was, and that closed one of the most successful Disney rides of all time. It was such a cheerful ride. Everyone would clap & sing to the patriotic animated entertainment, and everyone left there smiling & happy. RIP Debbie.

I've worked for Disney for 11 years. Though they don't like the death's of guests or Cast Members called on Disney property, it does happen especially when it's obvious the person is dead before EMTs arrive, Now if the person dies while EMTs are working on them, they wait until off property.
There’s also Rebecca Corium a daycare worker for Disney cruse lines that disappeared on one of the Disney cruises in 2011 there’s so much coverup, mystery and speculation surrounding that case as well, especially how they handled it. There’s so many unanswered questions…super sad and creepy!

The videos of the victorious cast being all happy, but then Dan arrives with his camera and the mood changes. You can see how he always targets Ariana and how the other actors try to distract him so he doesn't try to film inappropriate images but he stills focuses on her, and sometimes her Co star ( the girl with the blue highlights, I think it's Jeanette McCurdy) will sit in front of her so her skirt is hidden. Another instance of animal abuse/negligence happened when Disney was working on Snow Buddies. I don’t exactly remember the entire story, because I read about it a while ago, but I do remember reading that a few dogs died while it was being produced. I’m pretty sure there were more awful stories that came out from behind the scenes when Snow Buddies was in production, but the story about the dogs is what stuck with me the most.

I was born in California, went to Disneyland many times. I can remember being dropped off at the front gates, given money to get in, for food and drinks and being picked up that night. This was in 1986 to 1991. There were times when a group of us girls would feel uncomfortable from male staff hitting on us. Good thing we stayed in a group. I sometimes wonder how we were able to escape being kidnapped or worse happening. A different time.

When my sisters and I were really little my mom took us to Disneyland and there was a big sort of hullabaloo by the gates when we were leaving. We weren't really sure what was going on so my mom just sort of turned us into like a little human chain and told us not to let go of each other's hands and tried to like get us out of the park. It wasn't until we were actually in our car driving away that my mom told my oldest sister that a child had been kidnapped and they had slowed the gates down to keep people from leaving without being seen by security. By the time they had found the child that had been taken the people had already cut the child's hair change the child's clothes and told the child not to answer to its own name. The only way the people were able to recognize their baby was because they kept the same shoes on. This was in the very very early '90s and to this day I've never seen the story in the news or anywhere.

After that incident that construction has not been the same at disneyland, it got renovated to be more safe to the employees, adding walls that could break, then it got remodeled as "innoventions", then Tomorrowland Expo Center and finally "Star Wars Launch Bay", but never a rotating theater again.

Mr Ballen goes into great detail about Debbie Stone! It was a tragic error on the creation of the stage. There was a gap in between the walls and where the stage turned. The stage itself was a concerted ride. The inside didn’t move with the outside did. She went behind it to clean or do something and she slipped in between that space. With no way out, she was forced to turn with each turn of the stage. She went all the way around, twice I think. No one knows how long she was alive for but guests said they heard screams but assumed it was part of the show. RIP Debbie 💔🥺

There were Disney statues, images, and even the differnet rooms and grade levels were based on Disney things. A note about Nara Dreamland: It was originally supposed to be the first actual Disneyland in Japan, to the point where Walt Disney actually had a hand in planning out the park. There was some sort of dispute while they were building it and Disney pulled out all of their licensing. Nara Dreamland was almost completely built at this point so they just scrubbed all of the Disney branding and opened the park. Disney just left them alone because they kinda felt like dicks for pulling out at the last minute. Then in the 80's Disney would open Tokyo Disneyland and attendance for Nara Dreamland would basically go into freefall over the next two decades. By it's last couple years of operation, there was literally trash and stray animals all around the park and half of the rides didn't work because they couldn't afford to maintain them. Defunctland has a whole video about it's history if you want a deeper dive on the subject. It's really fascinating stuff.

Fun fact, although Disney is known for its copyright strict policies, and for suing every single organization that litterally just interacts with its content, to this Day there is one South American (paraguayan specifically) company that is called Mickey and that uses a logo of "a mouse similar to the Mickey Mouse of Disney" (they are litterally the same xd). Disney did sue the company but ended up losing the trials and to this day Mickey still uses the same logo.

Used to work at the water parks. I was specifically told “even if someone is decapitated, you must still must attempt to resuscitate” or them dragging make a wish kids under the turn styles.
This is so fascinating. I haven’t even gotten past tier 2 and I have to comment because I almost became one of these child stars. When I was about 12/13 I was “discovered” my a Disney executive by my aunt and uncle who worked with Disney. They saw a video of me playing guitar and singing and basically said they wanted to give me a tv show. All I had to do was send in a demo CD and an audition tape. How it was explained to me was they they would base the show around a character suited specifically for me.
I didn’t do it. Can’t give a definitive reason why; it just didn’t feel right and I didn’t send anything in.
It’s so strange hearing about this process from this outside perspective. I had no idea what I could have potentially gotten myself into, and I’m so glad that I didn’t.

PLEASE talk about Escape From Tomorrow. The production is impressive, but the movie itself is such garbage, it's cheesy, it's insane, the main character is "interested" in two teenage girls, and the entire message is "DISNEY BAD BECAUSE ITS A CORPORATION" I mean, there are plenty of things to criticize Disney for (as evidenced by this video lol) but the director/writer of Escape From Tomorrow puts all the blame on people who dare want to go to a theme park and his idea of criticism is surface level at best.
If you ever do talk about the movie I suggest you look at interviews with the director. He compares people cheering at a parade in Disney World to a cult and says the people clapping were acting like it was "the second coming of Christ" and he keeps telling the same story in multiple interviews about how a little girl was screaming over a princess wand, apparently he was pretty salty about that. Also he claims that in the movie the audience is supposed to think the two teenage girls are "flirting" with the main (adult) character, and that the Disney princesses at the parks contribute to the "sexual frustration" of the park because they're women who are attractive.
Also in the movie a woman goes insane because she killed a little girl by hugging her too hard.
