Sis continue to block and delete those comments. The problem with social media is it’s faceless and not the real world. We don’t know who’s behind the keyboard. I really believe some of the negativity comes from troll farms. We ( Black people) need a different form of social media.
I agree with you. Africans/black people globally are more alike than we are different. The conflicts are useless in this global oppression and harm us more than helps us.

This is one of the most positive, practical, sensible, mature, and much-needed posts I've seen on RUclips on diasporan experiences. Unfortunately, too many persons take their personal demons, dysfunctions, and disappointments online, instead of going to heal, get help, or get their acts together first. Unfortunately too many people (and large segments of the media) seem to have inherited, and / or thrive on PHD behavior (Pull Him / Her Down). But like crabs in a bucket, nobody moves up and out by pulling others down. Thank you. Best wishes to you and your family.
Greetings from NY! Don't mind them, these are mainly insecure trolls. Most of these so-called "diaspora wars" only exist on the Internet. In real life, most black people are mature, level-headed, and calm.

I don't understand the diaspora wars. Especially since the different groups have grown up with each other, formed friendships with each other, and even married and have had children with each other. I don't get into all of that either. Instead, I enjoy what each group has to offer and keep it moving.

I agree with you 1000% I travel yearly to Africa....We have colonial casualties and former USA enslaved casualties..but I'm so blessed to have the best of friends in East africa and west Africa...I'm taking friends from America to africa ..one sister who travel with me to Senega....she l hungout for a month with some local sisters in Saint Louis, Senegal..and when it was time to return back to the States all the sisters from the local compound crying .(.it wasn't a dry eye in group ) asking the sister when will she return.?...they truly enjoyed the laughter..the bonding. The foods and the stories..let's put and end to the ignorance as it arrives on both ends. Let it be understood..upon our unity, it will be " Game Over " for our colonizers..

We all share a common enemy and it’s pointless to have such strong opinions about each other. We really need to focus on loving ourselves and each other as well as respecting one another. I was born in Tanzania but raised in DC and Maryland. Even after my family immigrated to the U.S, I have always lived in predominantly black communities my entire life, including now. I'm a proud HBCU graduate. Most of my friends are Black Americans and my brother-in-law is a Black American. I dare say that the Diaspora Wars are fueled and spearheaded by agents of chaos, who are unbeknownst to themselves willing agents of White Supremacy. That's why the work you and others do is so necessary and important. Also I find people who are easily duped into Diaspora Wars (on both sides) tend to be least likely to be in community with people from other parts of the Diaspora. We need to change that. It really does wonders in combating the ignorance. I know it did for me and my family.

I agree with your comments. We can’t get caught up with online tear downs. Historically speaking as melanated people, our life experiences/struggles should give us grace to overlook our cultural ignorance/differences. So we must continue to connect and learn about each other. Magnify what lifts us up as a people collectively. This will only make us stronger. One love!

I must be one of your oldest subscribers and though I've got to admit not being a regular viewer, it is nice to see you doing well after so many years.
Kaylan thank you for your much needed view point. Grace, respect, kindness and love. We have to start paying attention to these virtues in dealing with each other. Over the years in order to survive in hostile environments, people have had to develop a hard shell; a ready to fight attitude at all times. Unfortunately it's hard to change that aggressiveness. And instead of focusing it in the right quarter, we often turn it on to each other. Time to start being kind to each other and stop the wholesale tear down of people who look like us.
Thank you for offering this space to share something positive. The diaspora wars that I see (both IRL and online) reminds me of a quote from Seyla Benhabib, who says that we all must remember that “we all come from a culture.” I think this is a transformative way that we can begin to engage across the diaspora because (for me) it highlight two important things: (1) everyone has their own unique culture and cultural practice that is worthy of observance and (2) no cultural practice is better than another.
I think this reframing could help us learn to be more curious about one another and seek to understand each other as opposed to comparing ourselves.

People are just people with all of their imperfections. Although difficult, we should be looking for the good in each of us. Unfortunately, human nature has always caused us to put each other down as a way to lift each other up. CRAZY!

Wow Barbados was one of the first three countries I considered visiting when I pondered traveling out of the U.S., for the first time. I respect your prime minister very much. She has gumption and hutzpah! And you are even able to trace your family tree back beyond one hundred years. I am still endeavoring to do this. Yes very ridiculous to speak ill about a whole continent of people. I believe these beefs are started by those with money and political influence that wish to keep division between Africans, thus control, wherever we are. Those that struggle financially among us are the ones I believe who get into these verbal antipodal paludal spouts. Stay the course with your positive vibes, sistah, for us as a collective. 14 years is a lot! I've been tuned in off and on since 2021. I've resided in Queens NY for 36 years however born in French Guiana. My mom's side is from at least 3 generations in Guyana. My dad's side is 3 gens in French Guiana. I cant wait to visit the motherland.

Anybody else notice that these wars only exist online and doesn't really exist in real life?
Individual people have interaction with other individuals from other places and blanket all based on an experience. That is the most ignorant thing that people can do. But some of these people don't look at themselves in the mirror to even see if they are worthy of criticizing anyone else. These low vibrating people will never divide the Oneness that binds up together. They don't understand that, that is what the enemies want. I like the comments you made. We need to take a step back and understand the root cause of why Black people around the world, including the Continent of Africa speak such negativity about each other. It is by design. The westerners (Europeans, enslavers, colonizers etc) had to find a way to keep us divided so we would never come together and unify. So the enslavers/colonizers designed a propaganda system that would manipulate our minds against people of African descent, on the Continent and off the Continent. So we base our perceptions on what they told us and through media. It is time for us to stop bashing each other and come together in unity and change the negative stereotypes and narrative about who we are as a people. After all people of African descent is the largest group of people on the planet. So let’s start heart felt love for each other versus the negative stereotypes generated by white supremacy and western media. ❤

I totally agree with you, do not embrace the monitoring spirits of those people who are not happy with themselves or unity. I am a proud black diverse woman. I decided to go to Africa recently and decided Senegal was where I needed to be. I have travelled to North Africa in my younger days, very different embrac. The way my brothers and sisters in Senegal embraced me and my friend who was born in the Caribbean. I was born in Europe and always embraced my couture - Jamaican - Guyanese parents. Growing up , I heard it from other black cultures the negative comments re being part Guyanese and I address it straight away, my parents were proud of who they were and their humbly begins and the countries they travelled from to Europe.. I always seen myself has an African because that is where my ancestors came from. I identify with all my ethnicity. I hope we has black people will unite and embrace each other, we are black and should be proud. Just stumbled on this blog.🎉

My sister you are correct. All nationalities are mixed bags with the good and the bad and everything in between. It's pointless, useless and plainly stupid for us to through mud onto each other. It's not enough that everywhere in the world we are insulted and disrespected; we must double down on all that against ourselves. Omg! When you revealed that your mother side came from Barbados I was shocked because when I first encountered your channel one thing that struck me about you was the physical similarities between you and my maternal aunt when she was young.
At first I thought it was slavery related because most of us came from the same ethnic background with maybe one boat stop between one another but the fact that both of our mothers are of Bajan descent was a big Eureka moment in my mind

Listening to you and watching your videos is a little therapeutic and comforting. Disparaging the continent and the entire Africans is mostly out of ignorance considering how huge the continent is. There will be good and not so good wherever you find yourself. You must chose who you associate with and who and where to avoid. The same principle applies no matter where you find yourself. Generally, Africans are welcoming. That was mostly the reason the European were able to take advantage of Africans, that in turn, brought colonialism and slavery that followed.
Great video, speaking against these diaspora wars nonsense. Im from the Caribbean living in North America and married to an African lady. This devision strikes me as self-destructive to us collectively, and I wouldn't be surprised if there are nefarious people encouraging our division. By the way, I was going through a slave register for the island im from whilst doing research on my ancestry. There are listed on the register slaves originating from Igbo, Mendinka, Coramantie, Ibibo, Hausa, Congo, and many more. I'm just saying for those denying ancestry from africa.

I'm from the Caribbean..we talk about the similarities and have a good laugh about it..I grew up in NY..and have very similar cultural identities with my American brothers, how our parents raised us etc..one people with different flavors
