Hi guys!! We can't wait to check out that area next Spring!! Those bird sounds...so pleasant in the background 😍 ❤Great video about different boat options for the loop!
Would you consider the Hunter 50cc, with its wing keel at 5.50 draft, a reasonable boat for the Great Loop. I admire the Hunter design and the 50 cc, is perfect to the Mrs., and myself for long term cruising. We'd like to do the Great Lopp aboud the Hunter 50 cc.
The Hunter 50 CC is a fine-looking boat and very spacious. However that draft of 5 1/2 ft is going to be very very limiting. We know people who did it in boats with a 5 foot draft and they end up bumping the bottom quite a bit. The canals would be almost undoable once you get over 5 ft. Particularly parts of the Trent and Erie. We do have an online course available that will allow you to understand the journey, the boat, the crew, and living aboard. We do discuss the different types of boats to include sailboats and give examples. It's available at www.GreatLoopAcademy.com. we also have a free newsletter on that you can sign up for where we give tips and techniques about the loop. It's great to have you onboard. 😎
Nice walk around. Can a boat with a 5' draft successfully navigate the northern region of the Great Loop in Canada and the NY State region (specifically the Erie, Rideau, and Trent-Severn Canals as well as Georgian Bay)? Thanks!
5' is pushing it. The Rideau will have you sign a waiver. I also believe the Trent is that way, too. Ours was 4.5 and it was dicey at times. You may want to take our courses at Great Loop Academy to learn about other restrictions. 😎 Sam and Rev www.GreatLoopAcademy.com
Thank you! I will most certainly involve myself in your courses. That was my plan at the outset. I think we will shift our attention toward a different boat on our short list. The other boat atop our list in a tie has a 4.5' draft. That will have to do. We'll carry less fuel, if necessary, to lessen the draft somewhat and add to the Air Draft which has ample space.
We will be cheering you on! Be sure to sign up for our free newsletter at www.WhatYachtToDo.com for tips, tricks, and techniques about the loop as well as some free boating goodies 😎
Same a awesome great loop boat 1990 harbor master 520 coastal or a 1990 Sea Ray 390 we've had both growing up Harbor Master 520 coastal was in Tennessee the Sea Ray 390 in Michigan out of south haven Michigan
Merry Christmas to you and yours! I'd love something like the Aquila 36 to do the Loop in. You have the stability and maneuverability of a cat, but I believe the 36 is a narrow enough beam to fit into a standard slip.
i lived in hilton head for a couple years. went to the parade of homes a windmill harbor. great area but it has become slightly commercialized abd greatly over priced because of yankees retiring and moving south. still a beautiful place.
Take your time and enjoy life little angry bro. 😂 you don’t have to rush it in a few months. I know people who’ve done it in a year and such. Sorry bro that you can’t afford to do it. You’re mad and angry and your first thing you brought up was fuel.

It's such a great Marina! Also, the South one is like a resort with restaurants 😎
Hilton Head great place to stop when on the loop also a great place to visit if not on the loop
Agree totally 😎
I've lots of fond memories of Hilton Head: visited the island many weekends when I wanted to get away from Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort. 😜
Great place. Thanks for your service in the Marines! Sam was USAF for 23 years!
Merry Christmas y"all and enjoyed the marina and the boats and the sounds that go with it. Would love the warmth right now.
Thanks Buck, Hope yours was Merry and have a Happy New Year 🎉
Very nice !
Thank You! 😎

Safe travels and 🙏
Scott
Thanks Scott, Hope yours was Merry and have a Happy New Year 🎉
Merry Christmas whenever you are today!
Thanks Bill, Hope yours was Merry and have a Happy New Year 🎉
I did it in 1997 took 75 days with a few delays. You really want wide side decks and easy on off at the docks.
For Sure!
Merry Christmas Rev & Sam!
Thanks Elaine and Scott, Hope yours was Merry and have a Happy New Year 🎉

44 Swift Trawler great boat to do the loop in. Just need to decide if you want to go slow or fast
😎 Has a lot of flexibility for sure!
Merry Christmas from western PA
Thanks Rus, Hope yours was Merry and have a Happy New Year 🎉
Beautiful marina, thanks for the tour. Does the lock compensate for the tide or it mostly to control access?
It controls the water level to keep it somewhat constant. 😎
That is a Cardinal calling as you walk along.
Sweet!
Going to do it this year in an Albin 28TE

Marry Christmas!
Thanks Tim, Hope yours was Merry and have a Happy New Year 🎉
We have a 61 sportfish. Can you do the great loop in a sportfish?
It can be done! If the draft is 5' or under, no problem. You might have some challenges in some areas with finding marinas, but DO IT!
very nice place
Yes indeed 😊
Same a awesome great loop boat

Both great boats! I've been on a 390 and also the big sister (480). Will have to look at the Harbor Master. Thanks for the heads up 🙂

Thanks, Hope yours was Merry and have a Happy New Year, I have been on the 36 and it's a really nice boat!🎉
I live in Beaufort county north of the broad❤
Beautiful country and people there!
Windmill Harbor another great place on Hilton Head
Absolutely a must stop! Happy New Year 🎉
Grand Banks 51 a great boat to do the loop
Wonderful boat!
Hope you both are doing well :)
Thank you. Great to have you onboard with us! 😎
Trawler all the way single screw diesel engine like a ford Lehman 120 uses a gallon and a half of fuel per hour
That works too! ❤️
That pirate ship is a formosa 🤫😑
Thanks

Ye, it's beautiful there! Hope yours was Merry and have a Happy New Year 🎉
The loop is a big waste of time and gas... No logical reason to do it... Shop at Walmart and drive 8 hours a day for 6 months.
Bless your heart. Suggest you stop wasting your time following loop boats and journeys. Have a nice day!
