It’s the first time I am seeing your video it’s very interesting I love the way you cook from now on I will be following your beautiful recipes.PS did you peel your callaloo steams
First of all love your channel and i am grateful for the lessons, because i am from USA and married to a Trini man and love learning to cook his favorite dishes. However i would like to know how long it should cook and whats the name brand of the all purpose seasoning, as didnt catch name.
lastoute1 hi thank you for your kind words, it Cook’s rapidly I’ll say about 20 minutes. The brand of seasonings I use is Maggi all-purpose season up. 🙂
gigimagz hi thank you for watching & your kind comment it’s greatly appreciated 🙂 to answer your question the coconut powder milk is real convenient & there’s a few great brands the downside is that freshly used coconut milk produces its own oils we won’t get that with packaged coconut milk I hope that answers your question 🙂
Thank you for that quick response ☺️☺️. I am watching the coconut cut eye as we speak but I'll blend it today. I am so happy your response time was Swift🤣
I dont make my calloloo like this. As a cook u must have a version to cook calloloo without blender for those who dont have. Our grandparents didnt have blenders and they still made the sweetest calloloo. I will put in the bush after garlic and seasoning to cook and melt down in oil...the only thing thats melts the bush before water, then add in ochro and pumpkin to oil to cook and help further break down bush and then the coconut milk for water/ flavour
Hi I’m trying to figure out the basis for your comment?? I grew up in the 80’s so there’s a lot of things I know! Having said that we must respect the various methods of doing things!
Shay Thomas hi sure this is an average I’m giving you for 1 bundle of callaloo 2 Shadon Beni 1 medium onion 6 pimento peppers 2 Teaspoons freshly mince ginger 3 gloves garlic 1/2 bundle of fine thyme 1 hot pepper(optional) Please finely chop all the seasonings
Made in Trinidad keep both some persons peel the stems, I will advise that you cut up the stems small make sure all of them are cut the same size. Usually the stems if it cuts to big it’s somewhat difficult for it to be swizzle I hope this helps.
Caribbean Food Network yes what’s your point for many years conola oil was marketed as a better oil than vegetable oil cooking butter I won’t call brand have quite a reputation majority of persons with any knowledge about it stays clear to each their own you be blessed
Caribbean Food Network also don’t take my word or anyone else word for it do your own research on why canola oil got a reputation for being considered healthy there’s a lot of knowledge out there available to any & everyone again you be blessed
Oooohhh yeesss... we make an okra soup with the callaloo leaves and also, often times we stew it with meats or as a side dish... deeeee-lish ;) And it needs so little cooking time too ;)
It's one of the most requested recipes on my channel, but it takes sooo much preparation, lol ;) I may treat my subscribers in the new year to that video ;) By the way, do you have a video of how you make shadon beni mix?
shahirah forde hi it’s 2 bundles of dasheen bush 20 Okra Roughly 1 cup of diced pumpkin 6 cups of coconut milk A medley of freshly mince seasoning(listen to demo for the combination/blend I used) Method please follow instructions on the demo above.
Precelle Brown if you never tried it you won’t know it’s not sweetened with the sugar! It’s used to enhance the flavors look at the amount of sugar used
What about them you little can’t cook behind what about them are you eating from me??did it take away from me cooking are you a health inspector are you a food critic??you all need to just keep your tails off my channel go support the “others” like yourselves oh & by the way ask around me

gigimagz hi thank you for watching & your kind comment it’s greatly appreciated 🙂 to answer your question the coconut powder milk is real convenient & there’s a few great brands the downside is that freshly used coconut milk produces its own oils we won’t get that with packaged coconut milk I hope that answers your question 🙂

Oh and do you keep the stem of the callaloo bush ? Or only the leaf ?
Made in Trinidad keep both some persons peel the stems, I will advise that you cut up the stems small make sure all of them are cut the same size. Usually the stems if it cuts to big it’s somewhat difficult for it to be swizzle I hope this helps.
Do you get a strong garlic taste ? Don’t think I ever saw my mom burn the garlic
Made in Trinidad hi no it just releases a distinct taste. It somewhat cooks off the garlic taste during cooking.
Made in Trinidad
When you burn the garlic the taste is unforgettable 😋 yum

Caribbean Food Network yes what’s your point for many years conola oil was marketed as a better oil than vegetable oil cooking butter I won’t call brand have quite a reputation majority of persons with any knowledge about it stays clear to each their own you be blessed
