i set up my 1st minipc firewall using opnsense and this video, man you saved me so much trouble of trying to set up adguard. This works straight away. Thank you. I really appreciate what you did here.
Where can I see what is getting blocked to allow it when something doesn't work? I seem to only find statistics and log messages about errors and such.
Hmm, I selected all the blacklists that had to do with porn and created the cron job but it still allows all porn websites, what am I missing? I am currently running my opnsense box as a transparent filtering bridge that sits between my router and modem, maybe the dns thing does not work under these conditions?
Check to see which DNS server was being used by your computer. I have not used transparent filtering bridge before, so I’m not sure, but it could be the issue.
@@sysadmin102 Yes so my computer is pointing to my router's default gateway because my transparent filtering bridge does not have an IP address on any of the ports. i used this youtube video from Daves Garage channel to create this setup "OPNSense: Protect Your Home LAN With a Transparent Filtering Bridge with Step by Step Instructions"
Maybe you should ask him since he already had more knowledge than I do regarding transparent bridge. I viewed the video, it looks like OPNsense receiving the default DNS Servers and subnet from the ISP router.

Is there a way to let a device on my network bypass the DNSBL?
I have not actually try it, but sometimes I used VPN for a quick bypass.
is there any other configuration needed before these configurations because i did all these and it didn't give any effect
It’s depending on how you setup your network. For it to work, OPNSense needs to be the DNS Server and using unbound DNS
what do you do to access opnsense by fqdn and not lan local ip address?
Use OPNSense as your DNS Server.
@@sysadmin102 is there a video on that setup? thx for the reply
