At the start of the season the engine sounded a lot like a V10. Somewhere in my personal archive lies an onboard from Bahrain with Montoya in FP2 and I was convinced I was listening to a detuned V10. I can share the file with you if you're interrested
I think it's because of the exhaust running through the diffuser.
Hate it when people say Pedro De La Rosa was a bad driver. He has the Bahrain track record! And watch him in this Mclaren!
What a shame Kimi's last McLaren was a turd. He deserved at least 1 WDC with the team.
And Alonso at least one with Ferrari too
Zero Win seasone 2006, McLaren since 2006 MP4(21 very nice color chrome.
olds crying... R.I.P F1
the chassis was good but the engine was shit. they wasted his talent
Imagine they would have used the V10s just another year for 2006. This chassis combined with that even improved Mercedes engine from 2005...
@@the_razr he would’ve been fighting for the championship for sure
Apart from a few heroic drives by Raikkonen, the 2006 MP4-21 overall was lacking in qualifying and race performance that its immediate predecessor, the MP4-20, had throughout 2005 season. Considering the MP4-20 is ranked among the fastest F1 cars ever, despite the absurd sporting regulations it had to abide by, it is not unreasonable to say the 'MP4-20D' would have also competed well against the Renault R26 and Ferrari 248F1 in 2006 season.
A big what-if had the '07 and '08 cars featured the unrestricted 21,000rpm V8s. With the restricted 19,000rpm taking effect for 09-13.
Didn’t help McLaren that Newey left to join Redbull
