I swear almost every one of these videos has me thinking less and less of working with wallets and more and more seduced by the wonderous amount of options I could pursue in bag making. My dad has tuck locks on his laptop bag underneath a leather strap and buckle like this, and it took me way longer than I would like to admit at 30+ years to get in to the first time. I will definitely be adding these to my mom's bag when I finally get around to it. Thank you.
Happy to hear you got to discover tuck locks! Over here, they're always something that I associated with leather bags, both the handbag for my mom and the knife sheath that my father made before he passed away had them and I fell in love with them ever since. Keep up the great work, looking forward to seeing you make the bag!
I'm guessing if you ever make a blooper reel 15:36 will be in it. LOL. BTW, much thanks for the recent videos showing ways to help Ukraine. You do good work in more than one way!
I will use these tuck locks for my next portfolio-style briefcase, thanks to your video. Enjoyed this helpful video and the back-quarter profile of your head. 😄
You have a great channel. It's always an Education. Thanks for all the hard work. I'm just starting out, having learnt so much from you, and a few other RUclips leather workers.
Love these I have been using them for a little while now, I actually used your tutorial for the French seam today I love using your vids as a reference thank you 👌👍
On large bags, I have taken two of the bottom parts of the closure and set one in under the logo and one on the front, under the flap so that the user can attach a small padlock.
These closures are so convenient to use too. I have a bag that has one of these hidden under a strap, like you showed as well. It's way faster to open and close than if it were a simple strap/buckle combination. I loved the calm explanation and demo, great video :)
Hey @CorterLeather I have a couples questions as a new leatherworker; do you test your patterns before selling them? Also building off that, if your answer is yes, how long do you test it before selling. I only want to give the best and am not sure when to release a new product after the prototype. Would love to hear your opinion on this, thanks.
Hi, thanks for the helpful video. I have a satchel where the top part of tuck lock has come off, and instead of screws, it uses some sort of rivet system to hold the flap in. Can this be mended somehow?
I'm exploring these, I have an application but the lock may be under a load, not constant, and not very powerful, more jerky, and I don't know how well the tabs will keep it in place, I have 2 coming in, a screw in type and a tab type, but want to try both to see if they'll hold
@CorterLeather I know you've mentioned the vieldon tape before, but I haven't been able to find it. Would you be so kind as to provide a link where you get yours, please? I'd love to give it a try. Thank you!
I will have to use these, I love hiding them, too. I've needed a reason to order from Buckleguy, anyways, heheh. Do you know the size of line to cut for the prongs? (Looks about 4~6mm)
those chinese flat punches you mentioned can be easily self-made from an old screwdriver, broken stitching chisels, etc. i have several of varying widths.
I was thinking the same thing. I was going to take my old flathead screw drivers and work a thinner edges for punches. The best thing they're pretty cheap at the thrift stores so you can have multiple sizes.
Why don't you fold the keepers towards each other (overlapping them) so you don't have to trim them and it doesn't stick out over the back of the keeper. Also look into Loxx closures(expensive but work it).
As long as you're not making a nice designer type womans bag I guess you could use those. Maybe on something rugged or for men . But definitely not on a nice handbag, those would be horrid.

I love that kind of closure, my old 50s-60s school bag has this style and even 70+ years old it works with no problems
they're my absolute fav now that I know about them haha!
I am a very big fan of Buckleguy's really flat magnetic locks. Low profile. Very nice and simple designs.
I'm guessing if you ever make a blooper reel 15:36 will be in it. LOL. BTW, much thanks for the recent videos showing ways to help Ukraine. You do good work in more than one way!
I love this lock on my ONA camera bag, it really is the best. the ease of open and closing you don't have to think about it.
Tuck locks are my favorite closures for bags also!

Amazing work

I love tuck locks, unfortunately I don't get too use them much though! Thanks for the tutorial on your way of installing them! Keep on keeping on!
Beautiful ❤
Good work 👌

I've had these type closures on purses for years, but it took this to tell me what they were called. :)
This bag closure reminds me of Luggage closures from the 70's
The small tool can be made from an old flat screw driver, you just need to sharpen it with a file
Where do u get ur sticky backed nylon fabric from?
Thanks for the vid
I was going to ask the same question.
Is there a video/pattern for YOUR bag?? *love it*
Very nice!
Thanks 😊
Very nice! You have a beard, you are way cooler now! Great video!

Like that bag. Do you have a video of it?

The next one to check out is Loxx… worth a squiz :-)
I was about to say the same! Loxx are my favourite.

Any suggestions on fixing a tuck lock? It seems the resistance fixture is missing
Nice 😊

Where can I get the adhesive backed nylon fabric ?
Where do yo get the nylon backing? Thanks
Does this have to be used on leather. Or can it be used on faux leather??
Where can you get the adhesive backed nylon fabric you use?

Молодец🥰
Sickkkk
ahaha... i saw you... lol
These gills on the back are bent inwards, not outwards ...

I've never heard anyone call a double cap rivet a "pop rivet."
So… you carry a purse? 🤔
