    I haven’t watched Amazon’s the Rings of Power series and have no clue. But after watching the movie the Lord of the Rings, I cried my eyes out. It’s not the result of Elf Dumbledore’s “I will not say: do not weep; for not all tears are an evil” quotation 😁. It was about how the movie never failed to impress, often my innocent childhood memories coming flooding back to me. You know that’s what watching masterpieces does to you.. It’s definitely one of my favorite movies of all time.
    Well, actually, I had to make a quick succession of google searches , which was quite a task for a lazybones like me, before being rewarded with some detailed knowledge of the Norse mythology I had barely known about since I was one year old.
    Curious Muse’s video led me to yet another round of google searches, but for a slightly different reason 🤔.. Well, it seems like Curious Muse kind of enjoys spreading fake news (hehe, you know what I mean) and I’m not a kind of person who would just sit back and do nothing about it. Well met, Curious Muse!
    I would support media literacy and combat wrong information for dear life.😉😅
    Thank you for your attention to detail, though, hehe😁

    As always, I enjoy your work, including this one. It's a good introduction to Tolkien's references and inspiration for his own written works for anyone wanting to approach Tolkien, including for those considering Rings of Power (RoP). And I learned something myself, in regards to dwarrow. But I'm not sure that I would extend those influences to be an influence on RoP. With each episode, I have noted increasing digressions from the lore as meticulously written by Tolkien, including fabrication of major "lore" elements found nowhere in Tolkien's works. So for those who start with Rings of Power and want to understand more and who go to the wellspring itself, becoming more versed in Tolkien lore is likely going to lead to confusion, the divide growing wider with each episode.

    Good breeze through, LOTR is one the most well written stories of all time. The dialogue, characters and scenarios are natural and believable. Rings of power dialogue feels like an AI prompt by comparison. I won't be surprised when it's announced that it was all written by a bot. There aren't any writer alive that can match Tolkien. When you've read his work and understand his skill with the English language, Rings of power will feel like a cheap insult.

    Rings of Power is not a Tolkien story. Not even close. It's an Amazon original grrl fantasy (probably written by AI) with LotR skin on it. They wrecked the lore left right and center when in fact they didn't need to. So if you want to see what happen before the trilogy you will not find it here.

    • @justaguy2365
      @justaguy2365 Год назад +2

      So I'm not the only one who feels like it's written by AI? It makes a lot of sense. There was an article a few years ago in which a bot wrote a few paragraphs of a LOTR story with just a prompt. But like AI, when you look or listen closely... It's just word salad with no real substance.

      The Rings of Power isn’t based on any one book Tolkien wrote. This Amazon series is inspired and based on the characters and works of Tolkien, but not a direct adaptation of any works. And that’s just fine.

    • @justaguy2365
      @justaguy2365 Год назад

      @@CuriousMuse Sure it's fine. That's like when you see the generic chocolate milk that says "Chocolate flavored beverage" I have no reason to watch something that Tolkien didn't intend to write. This show is a perfect example of someone trying to force a story where there is no story. I don't think you've read any of his works, if you did, you'd see the difference in style, pace, dialogue, plot. Not that it matters. They've reached whatever target audience they wanted. The average, mindless consumer. Folks who don't care about the story and just want to veg out on the sofa.

      @@justaguy2365 it's great you have your strong point of view but it's also good you recognize there are multiple audiences with their own needs. I'd not call them average or mindless but just different to you.

    Rings of Power is not a good series. I get the feeling that it was made by people who dont really know how to make a series. And with the whole polical correctness situation you cannot really talk about it, because if you dont like it, you are a racist, and if you like it, you are blind and you are manipulated by corporations. The truth is that the show its ok, and thats about it. If it hadnt the Tolkien brand on top, nobody would watch it really. The directing, visuals, script, they are all basic. There are some cool ideas, but they cannot compensate for a very indifferent show. And the thing is that they change the original mythology that Tolkien built so much, that its beraly a Tolkien story! And you know what? Thats ok. I wouldt care, if the show was just good, but it just isnt. I dont hate it, I dont love it. It just bores me, and its a shame because there are so many good stories that could been told from the Second Age of Middle Earth. I just cannot see where all of Amazons millions went.
    I only have to say that I am watching House of Dragon and I am having a blast.
