Nazgûl: Becoming the Ringwraiths | A Grim tale of death and destruction

- Опубликовано: 6 фев 2025
- This tale unfolds against the dark backdrop of Middle-Earth, tracing the fate of nine mortal men who are transformed into wraiths under the influence of Sauron's Rings of Power. Initially, these men are mighty lords who rise in stature and power due to the rings, but eventually, they succumb to their corrupting force, becoming the dreaded Nazgûl, bound to Sauron’s will.
Throughout the Second Age, these spectral beings serve Sauron with unwavering loyalty, spreading fear and despair until Sauron's defeat at the end of the age. However, with the temporary scattering of Sauron's spirit, the Nazgûl lose their physical forms and vanish temporarily from Middle-Earth.
As the Third Age dawns, Sauron’s resurgence signals the return of the Nazgûl, who reappear as shadows of malice haunting the lands. The most formidable among them, the Witch-king, emerges to lead, bringing terror and darkness back into the world. Their power lies not in their physical might but in the dread they evoke-paralyzing warriors and beasts alike with fear, and their very presence causes decay and despair.
The story also touches on the tragedy of Isildur, who, after Sauron's initial defeat, loses the One Ring to deceitful waters, leading to his own untimely death. This loss marks the continuation of the ring's cursed legacy, weaving sorrow into the tapestry of Middle-Earth’s history.
In parallel, a captain's diary entries provide a harrowing account of the ongoing war against these dark forces, detailing the despair and brutal encounters with the Nazgûl, who perform horrifying rituals that drain life and spirit, signifying a war against the very essence of life.
The tale concludes in the twilight of the Third Age, illustrating the deep-seated fear and the everlasting impact of the Nazgûl, whose presence warps reality itself into a wraith-world of despair and shadows. Despite moments of resistance and fleeting victories, the dark power of the Nazgûl and their master leaves a lasting imprint of dread across Middle-Earth, challenging the very nature of hope and resistance in a world beleaguered by shadow.
Honestly this is one of the best things regarding Lord of the Rings I've seen in years. I wish you had written Rings of Power. 😂
Thank you, I feel honoured!
I don’t
Ai generated script and visuals
@@numenorean81you mean your computer feels honored?
@@StevieMooreIt's still better than that ROP tripe. Of course it was written dismally on purpose.
If "The Rings of Power" series had any real creativity and depth, it would be delving into the history and evolution of the Nine Pre-Nazgulite kingdoms. There's lots of room for epic adventure there that doesn't corrupt the Tolkien canon.
Oh yes, it is such a wasted opportunity.
Or the blue wizards
That was masterfully done!!
Absolutely. The history of the Black Numenoreans, the Haradrim, and the Corsairs of Umbar is still waiting to be explored, along with that of the 4 ancient kingdoms of Dwarves east of Rhûn. There could be Elves of the Avari hidden in the East, along with previously unknown realms of Men in the East and South of Middle Earth. Finally the adventures of the Blue Wizards remain to be told.
Sadly, Amazon didn’t want to take the risk of writing completely new stories with completely new and unknown characters, for fear Tolkien fans wouldn’t be interested if there were no familiar characters from the books.
Very well said. That is a vein of pure gold that is begging to be mined
Your exposition on the Dúnedain was absolutely amazing.
I am very happy to hear that, I like to think it is the strongest part of the video.

Your channel is unique among the lotr channels 😊.
I remember watching Return of the King in a movie theater. When the Witch King shrieked as he was atop Minas Morgul, it was so loud and piercing that I covered my ears and felt sheer terror coming at me. Spooky.
I hope this piece evoked some kind of unease as well, maybe not as intense as in the theater but just enough to make you paus 😉
Do you not know Death when you see it, Old Man?
*This is MY HOUR.*
🗡️🔥💀👑
I was a kid and I remember that part in the theater so vividly! I remember watching it again at home and covering my ears because I thought it was going to be as loud! It was genuinely horrifying
@@numenorean81absolutely. You nailed it, man.
Commenting for the algorithm…this channel needs the exposure it deserves! I could listen to this all night, and I have! I live very remotely and deep in the woods, I have a lot of land and a small cabin. It’s pitch black and dead silent at night. I love listening to channels like this in that silence. Sometimes I can freak myself out though that’s for sure! 😂. When you legitimately can’t see your hand when it’s practically touching your face, your mind can fill up all that darkness with some scary stuff if you’re not used to it. 😅. I wouldn’t live any other way though!
Thank you for the bump, the algo always needs some massage!
And being out there in the woods (by yourself?) at night can definitely turn a well placed shadow into chills up your spine
really sounds like you’ve got the ultimate setting for binge-listening/-watching :)
I'm such a suburban girl but I have dreamt of living in the middle of no where. I'm sure I wouldn't survive but the fantasy is fun.
Nazgul needs their own movie!!!
I was thinking exactly the same after watching this
just not by amazon :D
@@ROBOTKO555 HBO perhaps. Even that network that did Spartacus🤷🏻♂️.
Sure. So long as they don't become the heros of the stories.
The same people begging for every mystery to be explained to them end up complaining about every mystery being explained to them.
Read more books and you'll understand why good authors create mysteries on purpose.
I agree this video kicks ass and Amazon should have poured thier money in this story.
Oh my …. This was scary to listen to and watch. But wow- you’ve captured what I think is a very good rendition of Tolkien’s “darkness”.
Impressive use of words and the imagery provided by Tolkien.
Really really really good writing.
I really, really enjoy the exploration of the dark corners of Tolkien's world, with some very light moments in between.
Thank you!
Narration is the best thing i've ever heard.
Thank you you good sir!

Thanks man! What was your favorite part of this one?
I have been watching the rings of power the tv series that amazon studios produced the production department did a good job the first season had a slow start and season 2 just started
It will be interesting to see the events that come after the creation of the rings of power the three eleven kings under the sky and the seven the dwarflords in their mountain halls of stone
Amazing art
I am so glad to see material of this quality on Tolkien legendarium. Even though the second season of The Rings of Power is *slightly* better (a touch less less bad) than the first, it does not touch what you have made.
The opening of this video was great
Was that your favorite part?
Nice graphics
That Dúnedain journal reminds me of the WWZ audio drama.
As in World War Z ?
My god your channel is stunning
Much thanks!
Those poor bastards...Tolkiens words? I would like to watch a Nazgul horror film though!
Not a specific wording of Tolkien :)

Intro music is awsome! Can you give me the name???
What’s the name of the intro music? Absolutely amazing.
the music in the begining its beutifule, what is the name?
damn dude...this is dark!
Hope I didnt scare you away 😉
@@numenorean81 well done!
Its supposed to be
What is the music playing towards the beginning
The Nazgûl have been very much defanged by the Jackson films imho. This reminds us how bloody terrifying and how utterly without mercy these servants of Sauron were. The rings given to them, trapped them in centuries of living death with no will, just Sauron’s burning in their consciousness. Sauron chose his servants well.
Very true. I feel if we got the Nazgûl, as they were depicted in the books, the films might have to be R-rated. It’s probably one of the few gripes I have but a forgivable one considering the circumstances.
The Nazgul in time seem to have become the Dementors of Azkaban.
I came here for sarcasms sake, I stayed for a cool soundtrack, well done. I almost did a similar offering, The Deloreans of Mordor….this is better than my Slap Sticks
Killer ass channel bro
Thanks!
What is the intro music?
Imagine seeing this shit in a movie.. R rated Nazgul movie, yes please !!
Awesome video, Thank you. Keep up the good content on this channel. 🤩
Indeed! we need a dark gritty movie, yet also brimming with mystery.
The past villians seemed scarier then what happened in lotr
Indeed so, yet think about it. There is a lot of time that goes by, literally centuries on end, where we as readers have no idea what the dark ones are doing. It all can't be sunshine and unicorns right. I wager they do some grotesque acts from time to time, at least.
I know he was only named in the rose of the witch king RPG so it’s not really canon however I love that game so chose to consider Morgomir the name of a 3rd Nazgûl and I’m on the fence weather Gothmog is a Nazgûl or black Númenóreans. I’m certain he’s not an orc though
Finally in battle of middle earth Isildur also became a Nazgûl which even though it’s non canon it’s still a good idea imo.
"And seven other dudes. Scary ones..."
lol, Yeah, it fell a bit short on their presentation, I agree
@@numenorean81 Not at all. That's pretty much how they're presented in the lore. Your presentation was awesome.
Thats usually how it is, a fall from grace
And I’m supposed to be scared of a stupid flaming eyeball on a tower over these guys?
And you think about the gurzyul from Lord of the rings online MMORPG? I want to hear a story about the Mouth of Sauron.
Ah, The Mouth of Sauron, I love that character. A video about him would interesting indeed
Imagine if they ever dropped:
LOTR: The WitchKing
...everyone would apeshit.

@@numenorean81 thx a lot, keep up the great work, love it.
Wowwwwwww
9 movies should be made about these kings and their downfall into darkness. Like come on! That would be so interesting…enough hobbits and elves.
Lets do it! 😄
The Souls of The Damned.
Even though this is good. I really miss the voice from the witch king series.
Imagining a hobbit sized wraith :)
Never liked the zombie looking ones in Peter Jackson’s movies. Also the straightener type of long hair and beard was altogether taking it a bit too far. The artwork here is impressive and I always thought the ring wraiths would look more simple but kingly but also more vampiric due to the rings corruption.
Did you narrate this ?
I use "professional" voices.
If the rings of power had used chatgpt it would have been a lot better
Title shoukd be. NAZGUL the return of the witch king and wringwraiths. NAZGUL part 2 fall of men. NAZGUL part 3 fall of darkness
These are good titles, they have a nice ring to them!
Yes, Jesus is a Nazgul!
Huh?
It’s pronounced “Dune eh dine” not “Dane”.
Isildur's lesson is not that the ring betrayed him, but it is about power corrupting him. Had he thrown the ring into the fire when he cut it from Sauron's hand, his life would have been much different
My ex is a Nazgûl
Hmm, mine is a Ringwraith, we have something in common!😂
Very atmospheric, but the narration is a bit clunky and verbose at times - possibly needs a rewrite to tighten it up. Also, the Dúnedain would never have called those daggers "barrow blades". They are only called this in the Lord of the Rings because that's where Bombadil found them - in the barrow the hobbits were imprisoned in. So why would the Dúnedain who forged them call them "barrow blades" before they had even ended up in a barrow? They also wouldn't say: "in the Year of the Sun 1409" - as though the Sun had only been around for 1,409 years. This was actually the THIRD AGE of the Sun. And Men wouldn't divide the ages into pre-Sun and Sun years, since there were no Men before the first sunrise. They would just say: "Third Age 1409" or even just "1409".
Yeah I have to admit, calling them "Barrow blades" is clearly a mistake, not something i gave a lot of thought to when writing.
Regarding the whole "Year of the Sun" bit... My thought was that the specific year of 1409 was called a year of the sun, and not 1410, 1411, etc. These sun-years would seldom occur, but would follow a regular cycle. Perhaps it was just something local, only used in the time-keepers of Cardolan.
I wanna know why they have american accents if there supposed to be the dunedain
I do believe it is a subtle British accent from the Captain
This christian imagery with crosses and everything is just wrong. Nevertheless, it's still cool as are these videos.
There is a cross on one of the houses, other than that I am not sure I see any. If you refer to the poor scout being flayed... well, he is just holding out his arms in agony, so I would not call that a cross :)
You lost me.
How so?
