  • S G Curry Ltd's Kobelco SK140SR clearing out drains in central Ireland. This Kobelco is specially modified to work in extreme soft ground conditions with wide pads and a wider undercarriage to accommodate them. The main body of the machine is also lifted higher than normal off the undercarriage.

    Does that machine have a button to do a flat horizontal cut, or are you manually controlling three joints to get the cut flat?

    Awesome video, my friend! I could do this all day... What crop is raised in this field? Is there a cover crop, or is this a Peat field?

    • @AwesomeEarthmovers
      @AwesomeEarthmovers  5 лет назад +2

      kevin webster it’s used to simply harvest the peat not for burning but for bagged garden soil

      @@AwesomeEarthmovers thank you for the quick response! I love doing these types of jobs. The long, tedious ones, that no one likes to do. If you can, I would love to see some Peat harvesting videos. We don't have those here in the U.S.A. Thank you for making these videos, and sharing them with us! Always a good video from you, good editing, as well! :)

      Awesome Earthmovers are these drains to keep the peat either side the right moistness or does the peat form in the drains?

    • @AwesomeEarthmovers
      @AwesomeEarthmovers  5 лет назад +2

      D Hewitt it’s to keep water off the surface of the peat between the drains. In the summer they take a little layer off the surface each time which has to be reasonably dry. That is then put in piles which are loaded on to trucks and taken away later in the year. If you want to see this I have a video called “Peat Harvesting in Ireland” on the channel.

    Cool machine, but the harvesting and burning of peat on an industrial scale is worse the both coal and natural gas.
