      I've actually run into a problem my dude,
      devtalk.blender.org/t/why-is-texture-baking-so-mind-meltingly-slow/5653/4
      Seems like whatever I do, i cant render out my more complex scenes.
      Granted im doing a building with like, 1500 objects and expecting it to bake to a plane.
      Yet still, what happens in more complex scenes? Like, what if i had a gauntlet with bolts in it? Im not sure if anyone else has this issue.
      I did everything else in the article and just gave up. Im gonna probably just abuse collection instances.

    If you want a texture that can replace the node network that is currently plugged into the Base Color input of the Principled BSDF node, this is NOT the correct way to do it (since the Diffuse pass of a Principled BSDF can be influenced by more than just the Base Color input). The correct (albeit clunky) way would be to use a temporary Emission shader to bake each PBR channel separately.

    Hi! In this video, you recommend 1024 as texture size to bake albedo map. I want to know why is it important to use 1024.
    Thanks

    • @TheRoyalSkies
      @TheRoyalSkies  4 года назад +4

      Sure thing. When working with texture maps. You always save in powers of 2. So 64x64, 128x128, 512x512, 1024x1024, 2048x2048, 4096x4096 are industry standard numbers. When you use numbers besides these you end up wasting space and data on your image.
      And, I just picked 1024 because it's a pretty large size. So it will have plenty of detail, but not too much. When you get larger than 1024 things start to slow down on average computers.
      Hope that helps :)

    sometimes the procedural texture comes out black or white if you use the principled shader. either use a diffuse node and bake that for example I had to
    connect the procedural brick texture directly to a diffuse shader to make it bake out
    seems intermittent though :/

    • @TheRoyalSkies
      @TheRoyalSkies  4 года назад +1

      Yes you can. The seams you see when you mirror are a result of "not adjusting the normals". It took a while for me to figure that one out too, but the blender stack exchange can help you fix those seams step by step-
      I'll have to make a video on it soon-

    • @Legojack261
      @Legojack261 3 года назад +2

      I know your comment is 3 months ago and you may have figured it out already, but just in case you haven't, or for other people have the same issue: If you're using Principled BSDF, metalness must be set to 0 when baking the diffuse. I don't know the reason or logic behind it, but remember to set your metalness values back to what they were afterward (or make a duplicate of your Principled BSDF for reference if you're using a very specific number for your metalness)

      If it's just the albedo/diffuse you're talking about, you just have to copy the image texture node in all of the materials you're trying to bake. Otherwise, if what you're talking about is different material parameters, is just as royal skyes said.
