We have the 2021 2600RB and experienced the same issues of wear, tear & recalls. In addition, we also experienced fresh water syphoning out through the overflow line, & cracked fender flares. Having watched this video I'll be better prepared to do this suspension project next. Thanks.
The suspension made a huge difference for us. When I talked to Grand Design while doing the factory tour, they told us we made the right choice over the other brand. We love our Grand Design and traveled over 21,000 miles without any major problems. As a matter of fact, just changed out my Westlake Tires. Discount Tire was surprised I had them on so many miles. Hey Jim, the only thing I was missing was a good breaker bar. The bolts are not supposed to spin like that. You should only have to break the nuts on the inside. I highly recommend this upgrade after seeing the wear on the plastic bushings. You are so welcome!! You can do this job no problem. Thanks for watching, Stan
I have a Morryde system on my trailer, it was on the trailer when I bought it. As I watched the video (not thinking I would learn anything new) a few red flags went up in my mind. You started talking about wet bolts and zerts and I thought I know that I don't have zerts on mine. I went out crawled under and confirmed. A few days later I went to a RV show and Morryde was there. I found out that mine had a plastic inserts and dry bolts that wear out very quickly. They make a Heavy-Duty Shackle kit that I can replace mine with, the kit looks just like what you installed. BTW the rep said that their zerts are notorious for getting plugged, so get some zert caps for them. I will be upgrading my suspension soon, thank you for helping me to see this problem and saving me problems down the road.
Hi Matt, you are so welcome. Thank you for joining. When took apart the suspension the plastic/Teflon bushing were going as you saw in the video. Only after 10,000 miles!! Dan, You got this!! And you won't regret upgrading the suspension. As we have said several times, especially after cross country trip in the spring, we are glad we upgraded the suspension. This won't help you now but if you ever do this again, put the bushings in the freezer overnight so they contract/shrink and they'll slide right in the spring eyes.
Rick, I forgot about that trick! That is good advise. Forty years ago I work for a vertical pump company. That was what we did to get bushings in and heat to expand. Thanks for mentioning it on the channel. Stan

Hi Rick, we took it down to the Grand Design Rally in Quartzsite after I did the install. The trailer was traveling super good. A very nice ride almost rolling on air. Hey Stan & Rhonda...great video! My wife and I did that upgrade last summer on our 2600RB. I appreciate the detailed video you put together and the great explanations for those considering this upgrade. The only thing I didn't see or hear mention of, was greasing the wet bolts. I assume you hit them with the grease gun after you got everything torqued to 40' lbs. We're not retired yet so as a general rule I grease our wet bolts the beginning of every season and check them periodically through the season.

Just a cautionary note. I have a GD Reflection that came with wet bolts and copper/brass bushings. In less than 12,000 miles the bushings were completely shot. I wasn't expecting them to be so bad when I changed them for the beefier shackles. Glad I did.
Hello Maureen, I the heavy duty shackles. I would change out the CRE3000 for the new CRE4000 way more stout for the Reflection. Depending where you live and where your rig was towed to from Elkhart Indiana you may have more miles than you think. Thank you for your comment. I will check them once we get back. I am in the process of doing this to a camper that is 15 years old...Rust has taken its toll and after about 8 hrs, I just about have one side done. If I'd have known it was going to be a battle, I would have taken it to a dealer. I'm now very wary of YT videos that make things look easier than they are.
Hello Ronald, we did this upgrade on a 2021 Grand Design trailer. If you would of asked about putting it on a camper that is 15 years old I would of advised you to take to a professional. The installation is as easy as it is shown on our video. Many people have written on this thread with the same result. I am so sorry you had a bad experience. I can guarantee from experience if you would have taken it to the dealership it would of probably been there for months. I also stated in the video not to attempt this unless you are completely comfortable doing the job! On a 15 year old trailer, I’m sure it was a major job. Seems like the grease should be primed on the bolt so the outside of the bushing would lock into the inside of the spring eye. Its the bolt that gets lubed to pivot inside the bushing. NICE RV GARAGE. Us Cajuns change axles on muddy St Augustine grass on a Imagine 24mpr at 75 yrs old (still trying to prove we don't have what it takes}...that's what 3 tours in Nam gets you.

Hi Mike, I have no clue. What I do know is some RV dealers will keep your RV for a month not to mention it may take you a few months just to get in. I took my other RV in for a small repair and finally got it back with a dead battery after 3 months. Hope this helps. Stan

Mark, you are 100% correct. I wanted to show it could be done with conventional tools. I’m a flip flop king when it comes to buying an impact driver. All my battery tools are Milwaukee. @@OverTheHillAdventures I went DeWalt, the big boys try to outdo each other so it all depends on who has the latest. Wranglerstar (a utuber) is a Mikwaukee/SnapOn user. I’ll have to check my eTrailer wetbolt kit to make sure the 4 outer spring bushings are included, or buy separately.
@@markbergthold6181 when I bought the suspension system and wet bolt kit. I ended up with extras which was nice. I was really surprised how worn the stock suspension was. Why wouldn’t you lube the wet bolt through the grease fitting to ensure there is no air pocket in the shaft of the bolt and then spread the grease?
Hi Paul, I can’t remember but I am pretty sure I did. I just didn’t film it. It’s pretty cool the wet bolts fill pretty quickly. However, that is a very good plan. I also greased before I put them in. Never had any issues with greasing them.
When installing the new wet bolts, one should have a wrench on the bolt head to keep the bolt from turning. Just tightening the nut may cause the entire bolt to turn and the serrations on the wet bolt will wallow out the new shackle.
Carl, great advise but you shouldn't have to. The serrations are made to seat in the heavy duty shackles. Not one of my new wet bolts stripped the serrations. However, it would not hurt especially when using an impact wrench. I will tell you as in the video, a lot of the old bolts serrations were stripped. I think it was because they over tighten them. Per MorRyde specs 40lbs of torque. Thank you for your comment!! Stan
@@OverTheHillAdventures Yes, during installation at the factory those OE bolts turned because the bolt was not held in place when the worker tightened the nut. The serrations wallowed out the shackle. It’s always best to err on the side of caution and use a wrench on the bolt head when tightening the nuts.
It's there a reason you choose the 3000 and not the 4000 with the 4 inch of travel

I’m not clear on where you supported the camper weight with the jack stands/ jack. I see you lowered the rear stabilizers to provide stability but they are not weight bearing.
No I did not use the jack stands as weight bearing. Just to stabilize for extra safety. I put the jacks stands in back where the frame drops down. I also put the jack stands in the front where the frame drops down. Then I put the stabilizer jacks down for extra safety.

@@leonardcole5095 thank you Leonardo! I lowered the front of the trailer all the way down. I placed heavy duty jack stands in the back first. With two 3 ton floor jacks I lifted up the front until all four tires are off the ground. Then placed the front heavy duty jack stands in the front of the frame. When you take those nuts off, they’re not supposed to be reinstalled.
Thank you! They give you all new wet bolts and nuts.
Nuts are egg shaped, only use once. This is to assure they stay tight.
Thanks for posting the video. I have a 2019 2600RB and just bought the MORyde CRE3000 from my dealer. Based on your video I knew I had to get the version for the 35" wheel base, but the dealer was unsure of which wet bolt and shackle kit I needed and you didn't mention any sizes or part numbers for those. The parts guy said everyone was getting a standard version even though there are two different sizes. I want to make sure they ordered the right parts. Would you share what the dimensions/size specs are on the wet bolt kit and shackles you used? Thanks for the info.

I measured mine out of curiosity before taking it in to the dealer and I thought the shackles were 3 1/8" but maybe the 2.25" is the bolt size and not the shackles? Dave, agreed!! However, folks are traveling further then ever before. Not just on weekends or a couple of weeks during the summer. They are gone full time or traveling full time. It is only my opinion travel trailers were never made for full time living or long travels. Hence the term recreational vehicles. Plus the roads are terrible! @@OverTheHillAdventures I can agree with that. We will be taking our first long trip this summer in our new 2600RB. New Jersey to Rhode Island then to Maine. I'll be pulling with the almost the same truck as your 1500. We will see how it goes. Roads are very bad over here.
@@davefederici2618 you will do great. When I towed with my 1500 I traveled with only 2.5 gallons in the water tank so I would not go over my payload. I watched my payload like a hawk. Safe travels 😎🙌 Stan

Hi Steve, like night and day. When I changed to the Goodyear Endurance Tires the trailer towed awesome.
@@OverTheHillAdventures I just put Goodyears on as well. I won the wet bolt kit at a rally so figured I’d do the whole suspension upgrade. Did you notice any change with sway?
@@steve4658 the towing experience in general was better. At the time, I was towing with a 1/2 ton with a blue ox weight distribution hitch. I ran air bags on the truck so I had very little sway. It improved the bounce and the sway of the trailer. The trailer towed better all the way around. When I got the 3/4 ton the trailer towed like a dream. 33,000 miles not a single problem.
Did you tilt the front end down and then stick jack stands in the back and then lift it with the tongue jack and then place jack stands in the front? Or use your floor jack in each corner to lift each corner as you went? And are you really just on 4 jack stands? Also, it looks like you were on the drop frame portion, is that right? My 2400bh has drop frame in the back with bumper and in the front by the stabilizers. Is it ok to hoist it up there? Would be so much nicer since then I wouldn't need to deal with the belly cover. Thanks in advance!
I did drop it down on the front put the jack stands in the back first where the drop frame is welded to the original frame. Then lifted up in the front by the frame. If you have two floor jack the the front evenly. Yes I on only used for jack stands. Once I had it up on the four jack stand, I dropped the stabilization jacks for extra safety. I used 3 ton floor jacks. I was nervous doing it but it worked. Be super cautious.

Why didn't you change out the leaf springs?
No need to. Only 10,000 miles on the leaf springs when I did the suspension. With the wet bolts not much stress on the leaf springs unless you overload your trailer. Thanks for watching. Stan
First, your video's helped me deicide which Grand Design Model to purchase. Thanks to your input Stan and Rhonda, I have just purchased a new 2500RL - thank you!!! Quick question outside of the Suspension System. Did you guys upgrade yours and did you do both vents or just the one in the bathroom. My dealer is quoting me $1,400 to replace the standard vents to a Domestic Fan-Fantastic Vent and not sure if both are really needed when I'm boondocking. FYI, I'm not has handy as Stan :)
Daren, we have the vents that came with the rig. The one in the kitchen and in the bathroom are the power fans. Standard power fans. To be honest with our small space I thought putting the fancy fans were a waste of money. We open the glorious windows we have in the trailer and it’s been wonderful. I would definitely check around on the price. A whole air conditioning cost $600.00. Daren that’s way to much money for a 1 hour job. Thanks for the kind words and hope this helps. Stan and Rhonda

I have a 2500 rl and added a max air in bedroom. Had the dealer do this prior to picking it up. Boneheads had it wired to the light switch in BR so you had to have lights on when running the fan. Installed a separate switch in bath wired from that light switch so I can control it separately
What was the center line for the Equalizer... end to end center of bolt holes please

@@OverTheHillAdventures So the other most holes of the CRE3000 the measurement for that on the factory equalizer. After doing a little more research it looks like these are too small since my wheel base (center to center of wheels) is 42" and requires the longer CRE3000 part
@@OttawaMale43 so we have a 35” wheel base. We we spoke to Steve the MORryde representative at the Quartzsite RV show which on video told us what to buy. He specializes strictly with the Imagine series. It bolted up perfectly. I hope this helps. Several of our viewers have done the same job and are very pleased with the outcome. 40lbs that was recommended by MORryde. I did use some lock tight.
Sorry Dan miss read your comment. Wheels are 90-95lbs no lock tight..lol
Did it change the ride suspension feel ?
Rene, I just drove across the country. I feel it handled great!! It just feels much smoother. The roads are horrible. The suspension handled it great. I think I probably would broke a leaf spring with the stock suspension with the roads we traveled. Stan
@@OverTheHillAdventures thanks for answering so promptly, I have a 37’ Raptor 5th wheel and my wife and kids ride in the back. They complain because it’s such a rough ride. I have triple axle and I’ve already broken 1 leaf springs and expect to break another on a long summer trip🥴. I now believe I will be switching them out as well ! Thanks for they video and reply !
