This is what honest tax paying citizens are rewarded with in Bengaluru. Heavy rains, water logging, collapsing infrastructure, dangers due to open manholes and potholes and drains as well as live electricity wires etc. Our city planning and administration and civic bodies such as BDA, BBMP etc truly ought to be held to book for this level of poor planning and hopeless execution. Yet our great politicians live in Sadashivanagar and the High Grounds. Truly they all have an Emperor Nero syndrome.

@sm2411 a very good point. It is an issue in all cities. But honestly it is the builder and real estate ,politician nexus with BBMP and the government which gets the necessary permissions to build in tank beds and catchment areas. And frankly the common public are not always aware that they are buying a property on a tank bed or in a catchment or low lying area. Saying that, UB city and Lavelle Road and all are amongst the poshest places in this city and this is happening there.
It is also due to the pollution by way of plates and cups and construction debris and garbage which clogs and blocks all the storm water drains and causes backing up of water when it rains. There are a lot of factors at play here. But the root cause is too much of population and too much greed.

@sm2411 I agree. All the areas planned, designed and built in the early years right up to the early 1990’s are perfectly fine. Anything after mid 1990’s is an absolute mess. This is true of most of our so called urban cities. Bangalore, Madras, Bombay, Delhi/ Gurgaon/ Noida, newer reaches of Calcutta and all….

Trough is a region of low pressure. As he said, a trough is being developed from East MP to Inter Karnataka. The moisture-laden winds blow from the Arabian Sea, which is relatively a high pressure region, towards the trough. Though, I guess, due to global warming, the seas are getting unusually hot, creating all this to happen earlier than it actually should.

Just because there is no proper drainage system.. every year thousands of engineering graduates just from Karnataka come to Bangalore, imagine from through india.. To accommodate them more buildings are constructed, so water starts moving slowly during heavy rain..some amount of Water would have naturally sank if there was no building , but cities like Bangalore, need proper drainage is only solution

    ಮಾಡಿದುಣ್ಣೋ ಮಹಾರಾಯ
    You reap what you sow!
Everyday everyone is complaining and questioning BBMP, and govt whenever there’s heavy rains and water logging.
The volume of settlers from outside Bangalore has been on the rise ever since 50’s and 60’s. More explosive after 2000.
There’s no limit, no boundaries, no conditions. Anyone and everyone comes and wants to stay here and never return to their base.
There has to be some cap on the number of new settlers who come into the city and make their home forever. Someone who earns 100/- a day to on who earns 100000/- a day, everyone wants to be here and stay here. And the govt and bbmp have to make do what they can.
Bangalore city is like a school where anyone can join, any number of people can join, anytime of the year - no questions asked; including Bangladeshi’s and Pakistani’s and many more.
City dwelling population is always rising, but the no. of individuals who pay tax remains the same or doesn’t balance the equation.
Cinema halls, schools, colleges, bus, trains, rickshaws, cabs, aeroplanes, restaurants, pubs, bars, hotels, lodges, metros and malls all have some sort of limit to allow and stop the no. of people who can enter or stay at any given time. But when it comes to Bangalore City, there’s no such thing whatsoever !
    All are welcome
    Throughout the year
    No limit
How does anyone fathom to manage such a flood of settlers all year around.?
Yes, BBMP and govt is easy target. But even if those complaining people are made to run govt and BBMP, things will not change, probably get worse for sure.
Without some sort of population control, such woes will happen again and again. And again. Stop complaining and live thankfully. If one can’t do that, then please return to your natives ! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Right , why just people need to return to their natives , what about the businesses ,IT companies that should too return to their natives . Bangalore will be like any tier 2 city ,without the talent diverse people that make the city attractive to thousands of foreign businesses that comes to city ,take taxes and provide livelihood to natives which mostly either will rent their home or become pg owners. There are hundreds of city in world where population is even greater than Bengaluru with better infra. The migration is historical event it always happened whether it’s Indian going to us Canada or Tamilian going to Singapore or Malayali’s going to Arab countries within India too people migrate but problem starts when one starts to feel inferior to satisfy own ego starts to distinguish with others based on language religion caste and what not this have been happening from years and will continue. talking about reservations for local in govt pvt sector to what not every state people tried thinking to take advantage of the place they born but to those people who think the other state people the outsiders why don’t you declare yourself as separate nation and start issuing visa and then let’s see how many businesses get remain in the city and continuing operating. These businesses and it companies have not been relative of anyone neither of south or north or any country . They will come and go wherever they will find things cheap and best. So all the people whenever you say the Bengaluru and it’s people remember that’s the effort of all Indian of all states from all sort of professions their hardwork that made the city a global city which now everyone in world starts knowing. Bengaluru belongs to everyone who has legal right to live eat and sleep in a city. Inspite of anyone state the Karnataka state govt get lot of direct and indirect taxes from businesses and Indians citizen living in a city and providing businesses to local as well as people of other state in all forms. It’s clearly ineffectiveness of city government that even after this much revenue they are not even be able to provide basic infra and facility.

They're not your boys, they're delivery executives. Have some respect for the baseline working staff and stop showing your "elite" teeth when calling them out in names as you wish to and telling them that they've no other choice, because they've choice to opt out but can't as they need to feed their mouths, so they grind it out but definitely despise people like you. I was one of them briefly at some point in my life and know what type of "customers" you are, no need any special introduction.
