Wouldn’t iron head do more damage than knock off 12:46 huh weird when I went to do the calc on showdown it shows knock doing only 34% max am I inputting then incorrectly or something
He was covering for if the caracosta switched out and blanked a sucker punch so he could get another mons item. I don’t think he ever planned on trying to KO with bishsharp when he had a kart in the back. Caracosta was at 59% and the lifeorb bisharp iron head does 55.7% max to a -1 defense caracosta. So either way bisharp was going to die there.

Shiftry has a 50/50 shot of having focus sash, and with heat wave also potentially being in the movepool, it was too risky to try to take the opportunity.
because shiftry can have focus sash, and it could (in fact it did) have a fire type move, leading to a serious possibility of durant being the one that died instead of shiftry.
Oops, sorry misread the situation. He was afraid Shiftry might have had a focus sash. Shiftry often runs heat wave which one hit kills durant so he wanted to keep his durant alive.
It's not just sash, 20% chance to miss then 50% chance to be sash. So 40% chance to hit and take the KO AND then be forced to switch out next turn cause of banded first impression, but 54% chance to be KO'd by heat wave (90% acc), 6% chance he and you both miss, then you have to switch. So this arguably way worse than even a 50-50. This is because banded first impression is in essence a u-turn hyperbeam, the opponent could bring in their setup sweeper and get one free turn and steamroll (haxorus, calyrexes, polteageist, crowned zacian all need one turn only).

Going for the 2nd Knock instead of Iron Head wasn't a good play for sure. So yeah, Iron Head would be better in that situation. Aqua Jet and Sucker Punch both have the same priority level of 1. In that case the faster mon moves faster. In that case +2 Carracosta would outspeed Bisharp and would knock it out with Aqua Jet. Sucker Punch would also fail.^^
If you knew Caracosta was going to aqua jet, why didn’t you switch to toxicroak instead of sacking bisharp? Dry skin would’ve healed you enough to where you could outlive his dynamax

Sucker is only +1, faster opponents using priority moves is actually one of the best ways to play around it.
I kept waiting for you to realize that toxicroak had dry skin and you could bait a water move to move it out of the range of carracosta
