  • Welcome to this yoga practice for Eka Pada Galavasana, Flying Pigeon Pose, otherwise known as Eka Pada Galavasana. This class is the third in the arm balance series, a series that is designed to help you build upper body strength, work towards challenging yoga poses and level up your practice.
In this class I take you through a flow to prepare your body and help ready you for flying pigeon and then I break down how to enter the pose so that if you are a beginner this challenging pose becomes more attainable.
I hope you enjoy this class.

Really great class, as always. My pigeon can fly on one side but the other hip has very limited flexibility and thus that pigeon quickly crashes to the ground. It's still a fun pose to do!

I am the same with my epk one side is my friend and the other I have neglected but I guess the silver lining is there’s an opportunity there to focus on the other side and see how that develops with patience and persistence.

Amazing as always! I used to do the pose with my knee on the elbow instead of my arm. Version with knee on arm is harder but I can see that’s required to extend the leg ( which I can’t do yet)

Oh yes definitely, I also find for this pose in particular having the knee on the arm creates more of a ledge to be able to balance.

Everything collapses as soon as I try to straighten 😃. I guess I'm relying on the rear leg's knee to hold the front ankle in place...will keep coming back to this and hope to get there one day. Thank you Charlie 😊

Hey I know exactly where you are at. One thing that helps me is to focus on pressing the front leg (the one resting against the arms) into your arms at the same time that you straighten the leg. These opposing actions of pressing away and sending the other leg back will help to counterbalance your weight and keep you in the pose 💜

A split second for the back legs to lift off on both sides. Gotta keep working at it.

I can do it only when resting my head on a cushion. Not sure where the strength is missing.....
