I knew it, you will come up with the right decision. Since our retirement my wife and I go to Europe from May till October and then we run away from rain and cold in Europe and go back home to Australia and enjoy summer again. So having two base places, we are always in summer and from those places we can travel around where we wish. We wish you great time wherever you end up going. I hope you will keep your chanel alive and keep filming whenever you have time for it.
Hello to you! Have a nice trip and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you. But there will probably be another film before then. Hugs from us in Denmark.
When we brought our base in France, It had to have space to park the van and was totally finished work wise, I did not want to put any money into it and most importantly because I lived in France when I was younger I understood the way the French work (or not) I did not want to have to organise workmen coming to the home, plus property in France does not really increase in price very much so spending anything on it is really a waste, investment wise. (tax etc). When we moved in we drove the van up the drive opened the door and sat down with a nice bottle of wine. job done 🙂
I know just what you mean about short days and cold weather, I call it ‘campered out’, we have a small lock up and leave, always ready for the next trip after a breather. Enjoy that lovely warm weather on your trip.
Hi guys! I watched this on a plane to Kuching, which is one of our favourite places in the world. My wife Mary-Lou and i have been full time travellers for 2 years now, in Asia and Uruguay so far. We’d love to catch up with you when you’re in Kuching, we’re here until early February. With love, Ken
Hi Ken! That will be great! We should be in Kuching during the first few weeks of January. Please reach out to us on Instagram or send an email to wewillnomad@gmail.com then we can stay in touch.
Exiting 🍀🎉🍀🎉 Will cross my fingers. 🏠Really looking forward to following your Malaysia-adventures. Hopefully you found some good babysitters for Millie ☺️
Have a great time in Asia folks. Good luck with the purchase, I'm sure that it will all work out and in 6 months time Lisa will be Yogaing (!) away to her hearts content on that sun terrace. Is there anything that Andre cannot do ? Those hinges look so cool on the laptops.
Looking forwardto your Malaysia travel videos. Am amazed you have 3 months of gear in those small cases, I would love to see your micropacking as I always take too much. Happy travels.
Hi, may you have a nice holiday in the warmth. Here in Denmark it is wet and stormy while we are getting ready for Christmas. Greetings from Allan from the church in Ringkøbing
Oh WOW! So envious of your plans and we’re looking forward to seeing your new travels and later project. We found it funny to be mentioned in the video 😂😂 We would love to hear the financial aspects of the project when you’re in a position to consider sharing? Does it create any tax implications if you rent out?? Have fun guys and stay safe ❤
Thanks! We'll definitely talk about the finances at some point. Once we have a firm grip on everything.😁 Rentals requires registration with the authorities and usually incur a flat tax of 22% on what I guess would be after expenses.
"Freedom just another Word for Nothing left to Loose " GOOD LUCK IN MALAYASIA A long time since I've been there .. from Lankgowi you hop across to Thailand .. Good look with the Property purchase .🎉 Stay Free and Safe Travels😊
Congratulaions on making new decisions in life. It has been great following you life in Millie around Europe. But I totally understand why you dońt wantvto spend another winter in the van. Have a nice trip to Malaysia! Hope you Will film a little from there as Well.
Thank you! Although we love the van, it's gets difficult in winter. But we're looking forward to returning soon. Of course we'll be filming in Malaysia!
PS I had a quick question(Xmas Shopping)! - Mifi ... If you were starting again (With Stuff to buy) ... would you buy a Starlink Mini rather than Netgear? The Mini seems to be much more suited for Mobile/multi country Life. - Which Dashcam did you end up with. Some many have extra features that i dont think I need! * Just when you thought you were free of Millie ... i draw you back in!
We always go back to the Starlink question 😁 For us it has to be permanently roof mounted. The old panels were no good for this. The Mini and the new flat panel both are more practical to mount in this way. They need quite a bit of power.. The mini around 40-60W and the standard closer to 100W. At least the mini runs off 12V which is good. So you HAVE to sign up for roaming else it cannot be used in motion or away from a fixed location. Consider the 'basic' roaming package at £50 per month - limited at 50Gb (not enough for us) and limited for 2 months of 'international travel' away from registered location (not enough for us). For full roaming it's double the price. We generally don't spend more than 1 EUR per day. BUT it's not just the cost, it's convenience. If you have a good cell data provider offering good EU roaming the in Europe Starlink is hardly worth it. I would probably still stick to the SIM card in a router option just for the versatility. What would be great is to incorporate e-sim tech into a router somehow. By the way another option to consider is the offerings from connectpls. (Not an endorsement). As for the dashcam - we're using the Viofo A229 Pro - still our favourite. They just launched the A329 Pro which I haven't seen yet but would love to test.
@@WeWillNomad Thanks! I hadn’t read the small print on “roaming two months” … Yicks - you saved me there! Yes - I have been looking for e-Sim (and a “C charger” Electric Scooter should anyone be reading this) But can’t find either at a reasonable price. Thanks for the recommendation on DashCam. Looking forward to seeing where you landed … Europe is Dark, Cold, Wet and Windy … you are missing nothing!
The weather in Italy where your van is parked, is warmer than the UK in the height of summer 😂 I hope you have a great time out east it should be interesting 😀😀😀👍👍👍👍👍
Location,Location,Location. I've Transacted 16 properties. Currently have Five including a 10 acre Farm. I've always done well when considering location even when I've had to pile money in to renovate. You might want to consider putting a container for storage on the property so you can rent the place out when you are away for sometime. There's many tax advantages along the way buy doing this. Good luck with all of that :)
Thanks Matt. There's actually a renovated 'trullo' next to the house which could serve as a storage unit. Nothing is ever perfect but, location and desirability are the main factors which swayed us on this one. In fact, we knew there was a British couple who came back twice to view the property in the days before we saw it, and they made an offer the day after we signed. And we made the decision the same DAY we viewed it.
Thank you as always. A small change but we think it will be good for us. That mountain house belongs to our family and they very rarely use it. We were very happy to have some space to find our feet before we departed.
You guys are adorable 😆 And Andre getting philosophical: what IS freedom? indeed 🤔 😉 And I can see how that place ticks a lot of your boxes. And surprisingly roomy! That would feel HUGE to me, as I live in a tiny studio apartment (not much bigger than Milli). When I stay in a house now I feel like I'm being stretched or uncoiled or something 🤭
I live in a rented appartment under a socalled general housing coorparative, meaning that it essentially is a non-profit organization. And it has rent control. I don't have to worry about I can sell it, if I need to move to another place, and everything with building maintenance is taken care for me. The last shirt you are going to wear have no pockets, and leaving behind some vaugely valuable property is not a priority for me.
Not rude at all. However, the 'how' isn't that easy to answer. It took some serious effort and required a lot of dedication, sacrifice, and planning over decades. We did answer some of this on how we afford to travel full-time in a Q&A from early 2023 which you might find helpful. The short answer is, we live off a combination of savings, passive investments (property & stocks) as well as income from remote work projects on occasion. Sadly, RUclips does not provide us with any meaningful income 😁But it helps to cover the cost of equipment.

Yes, that's exactly what we're hoping to achieve with this. After 7 years a base would be nice - even just for just knowing it's there. 😁

Thanks! True about the weather. That's partly why we like that area. And why we're wary of visiting the UK 😁

Safe travels. 👍🐸
We're already missing Milli too. 😁 But it's just for a few months..
Could I have subtitles for the video in Finnish as well?
Sure, sorry about that. RUclips have made some very confusing changes to the languages recently.
